A belated happy Flag Day to you all

These guys are trouble. You can really tell, can't you? They may be dressed up like little U.S. sailors, but you know these three are the type who stayed too late in a back-alley bar in some remote port-of-call and missed the ship the next morning. Real trouble.

It's National Donut Day (so show some respect, you!)

randy's donuts

What one holiday unites us all?

Not Christmas or Chanukah.  And some people don't like Hallowe'en.  Certainly not Thanksgiving; who needs the baggage and guilt left us by the Pilgrims?

I offer you: my personal favorite holiday, National Donut Day.  National Donut Day brings all Americans together into one happy family, from the lowliest Homer to the mightiest Mr. Burns.  Today, friends, we are one, held together by the sweet jelly center that is the United States of America.  Or something.

Our own Elina Shatkin has the scoop on the best donuts in town!  So live it up, kids, 'cause it only comes 'round once a year.

Who needs birthday cake?

camel = best birthday gift ever"The camel is greeting Bill on his 95th Birthday," explains submitter Misty.

Um...I have several thoughts on this.  Where to start?  Where to start?

A) Bill looks a youthful seventy, tops!  Am I right or am I right?!  Ninety-five?!  Where's his aging portrait in the attic?

More importantly, B) How amazing is celebrating one's ninety-fifth birthday At. A. Camel. Farm?!?!?!

Dear My Unborn Children,

Pleasepleaseplease take me to visit a camel farm on my 95th birthday.

Love,
Lindsay (a/k/a "Mom")

This one's for you, Reggie

reggie the gator celebrates his anniversary today!

Okay, okay.

I admit that this photo is not technically Reggie the gator himself, but it's the best I can do, okay?  Be gentle, 'Sceners.  I show you this photo only to illustrate a milestone in the life of every Angeleno's favorite reptile.

Folks, today Reggie celebrates his one-year anniversary as a resident of the L.A. Zoo!

(Okay, maybe "celebrate" is too strong a word...I bet he's plotting his next escape, actually.  But hey, he's a fighter and I respect that!)

Happy Anniversary, Reggie!
