Barbara Demick is the Times’ Beijing bureau chief. She joined the bureau in 2009. She is also the author of two books, ‘Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea,’ and ‘Logavina Street: Life and Death in a Sarajevo Neighborhood.’

David Pierson covers business in Asia and the Chinese economy for the Times. He’s been with the Times since 2000 and joined the Beijing bureau in 2009.
