Sarah Palin claims Paul Revere warned the British

Sarah Palin, if you haven't heard, is taking some of her family around the country, visiting historical U.S. landmarks, and talking to the media along the way.

Thursday her "One Nation" traveling road show stopped in Boston, where the former Alaska governor, her parents, her husband, and little Piper visited Paul Revere's house, the Old North Church, and Bunker Hill. Palin posted photos of that leg of her trip on the SarahPAC blog.

One moment that you won't find posted on the blog is Palin's response to reporters when they asked her who Paul Revere was. Instead of saying, "Come on, everyone knows who Paul Revere, the silversmith and patriot is," she stammered while saying this:

"He who warned, uh, the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh, by ringing those bells, and um, makin' sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed."

Needless to say, the lamestream media are having a field day with that gaffe.

Politico: Palin makes Bachmann look like Longfellow

Forbes: This certainly gives us an entirely new point of view to consider when examining our nation’s founding.

Mediaite: Palin’s version wasn’t exactly the official History Channel rendition of the tale...

ABC: Perhaps this week's lesson in the annals of American history was necessary for Sarah Palin.

Fox News has the video up leading their site, but no text or commentary. Perhaps they're speechless.

All of this reminds me of a fortune cookie I once received that said, "We teach what we most need to learn." In which case, ride on, "One Nation," ride on.

Why does the media continue to cover this cluster-fudge? Let it go. As K.O. used to say, "that woman is an idiot."

Not close to 57 states

The question is asinine with no other purpose but to embarrass Palin. I'm no Palin fan, but pitching "Who is Paul Revere?" to a 40+ year old American is below the belt. The fact she took the bait says more about her than she intended, but this isn't "journalism." No wonder she - and really, much of America - dislike and distrust the media.

what gaff.......if joe biden misses its lovable old joe

These smug liberals in the media make the same kind of slip of the tongue as Palin. They knew what she meant. But they just had to jump on it. And the press wonders why people trust them less and less.

How did Keith Olbermann always say so perfect:
"This woman is an idiot!" :-)

Has anyone else notices that her make up looks more and more like Tammy Fae Baker?

Is she drunk or just a total idiot?

yes, and of course the germans bombed pearl harbor

I absolutely LOVE Sarah Palin.
And it's not so much that she was wrong and will claim she 'mis-spoke' but the fact that what she said doesn't even make sense.
The media is going out of their way to trip her up. Who would ask such a question of anyone else. I love the media for this!!
I really really really hope she runs and takes Trump along for our entertainment!!!

It will appear as a gaffe yet she is correct. The colonies were British and the residents were British citizens. And also Paul Revere warned "the regulars are coming" meaning the proffessional military of their government.

Ladies and gentlemen... SARAH PALIN!

Why does the media give this money and attention half wit any attention.

Gaff? More correctly, ignorant of the basic historic facts upon which the U.S.A. was founded.

Palin was correct.

From the original text written by Revere:

"I observed a Wood at a Small distance, & made for that. When I got there, out Started Six officers, on Horse back, and orderd me to dismount;-one of them, who appeared to have the command, examined me, where I came from,& what my Name Was? I told him. it was Revere, he asked if it was Paul? I told him yes He asked me if I was an express? I answered in the afirmative. He demanded what time I left Boston? ( -> I told him; and aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing the River, and that There would be five hundred Americans there in a short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up <- ) . He imediately rode towards those who stoppd us, when all five of them came down upon a full gallop; one of them, whom I afterwards found to be Major Mitchel, of the 5th Regiment, Clapped his pistol to my head, called me by name, & told me he was going to ask me some questions, & if I did not give him true answers, he would blow my brains out. He then asked me similar questions to those above. He then orderd me to mount my Horse, after searching me for arms"

Media = Egg on face

Sarah:

Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition.

-BO

Sarah Palin probably knows the right answer but she needs to stop trying to score political points. Her message gets lost in translation at best.

"During Paul Revere’s ride he was stopped by British soldiers, which Revere recounts in a 1789 letter maintained by the Massachusetts Historical Society in his original language (emphasis mine):

Paul Revere's own words: "I observed a Wood at a Small distance, & made for that. I told him; and aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing the River, and that There would be five hundred Americans there in a short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up. He then orderd me to mount my Horse, after searching me for arms

Upon being stopped, did Revere, in essence, warn the British soldiers of the colonists’ plans? Yes. The strawmen built by the media seems to almost indicate that Revere rode through the streets warning the British soldiers. In actuality, simply put, Paul Revere told Regulars of the colonists’ plans during his attempt to warn the colonists of the Regulars approach (Revere actually said, “the Regulars are coming!”. The colonist still viewed themselves as British subjects at the time and would not have said, “the British are coming”.

from the Paul Revere Heritage Project:

The Redcoats had set temporary roadblocks as a security measure and on their way to Concord they encountered British soldiers. Prescott managed to escape; Revere was captured and Dawes tried to run away but was arrested shortly thereafter. The British held Revere and interrogated him with a pistol on his chest. He was asked about the plans of the militia and where they kept their ammunition. When asked where the Patriots were hiding he told them the truth and replied that they had 500 militiamen in Concord protecting them and 1500 coming. As they rode towards Concord he was told that if he tried to escape he would be shot.

Palin/Bachmann..........The ULTIMATE "ticket" Hee Haw !!!!

HA HA HA HA HA HA - for you people who continue to admire this woman, God help you. stupid stupid person, how is this not obvious to all?

You lamestream elitists think you're all so smart. Fact is Palin has more patriotism in her pinky than traitor Hussein Obozo. Getting a few historical facts wrong doesn't change that she is our only hope to save this country from IslamoCommunist tyranny.

Her idiocy aside... you might want to get your quote correct when the video is right next to it. How hard is it to transcribe correctly anyway? Did you run out of interns?

I love revisionist history especially by someone dumber than a bag of hammers.

Palin is the ideal Tea Party candidate--the female equivalent of George Duh Bush. She is a know nothing that does not want to know anything which makes her an ideal puppet candidate.

See why we need Keith Olberman on a widely viewed cable network: That woman is an idiot!

Needs to be repeated. Only way to get the point across to the other idiots who can't recognize one of their own.

Her rendition of history makes me wonder why I bothered to spend 7 years earning a Ph.D. in early American history, reading sources, compiling data, writing drafts of my dissertation, when I could have followed Moose Barbie's lead and made it all up.

Oh poor Sarah. Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition.

Seems like she was channeling Bush.

Does it ever end with this woman. She's ignorant and dangerous. And she's never finished anything she's started in her entire adult life, except maybe her hair. Oh that's right, the GOP spent $150,000 teaching her how to dress.

I really wish she'd do all of us a favor and fall into a storm sewer drain. Enough already.

Yeah...

Live by the sword, die by the sword, Sarah.

Being attractive can open a lot of doors, but it can't make a dumb person smarter.

I may never stop laughing. What a pathetic moron.

The GOP has actually found someone less intelligent than George W. Bush to run for president.

why o why is this woman still seen as news worthy??

IF YOU'VE EVER SEEN......DAVID LETTERMAN'S....... CLIPS OF GEORGE W. 'S...... GAFFES...... IN GREAT MOMENTS IN PRESIDENTIAL SPEECH......ONE HAS TO WONDER....... IF SARAH PALIN EVER WAS... ON HIS SPEECH WRITING TEAM.....FOR EXAMPLE...."FOOL ME ONCE......(BRAIN FREEZE)......YOU CAN'T FOOL ME AGAIN"....IF ONLY SHE WOULD RUN.....I'VE GOT DIBS ON THE NEXT "OUR NORTH KOREAN ALLIES"...MOMENT

Let's hope the Republicans keep up the fight in Michigan this coming election year, unlike 2008.

And this was the "qualified" GOP candidate for VP. Amazing. Amazing that anyone without brain damage thinks she's a good choice for any office.

Leave her alone. Would you taunt an autistic child or retarded teenager? No. We need to stop teasing stupid people and be kind to each other.

Paul Revere did WHAT????? OMG!!!!!

There goes that liberal media again... calling out poor Sarah with her own words.

I have to say Bill O'Reilly was right: Palin needs a college education.

Just when I thought she couldn't be any more laughable.

Pathetic new jobs report - 9.1% unemployment rate - over 2 solid years of the US Unemployment rate at historically high levels, at or near 9% to as high as 10.1% - sure, write a story about Sarah Palin

If I didn't know better, I would think the media has over done it a bit in making this trash heap the blazing 64-point headline story on every print and electronic outlet they can find... To quote Keith Olbermann "This women is an IDIOT" !! This video is PROOF..

Nuf said... STOP NOW...

Is this the next segment in National Lampoon's Vacation series?

"One if by land, and, uh, two if by . . . snow machine?"

we were all British in 1775.

Reminds me of Jay Leno's pieces called "Jay Walking" where he asks SIMPLE questions of people who have no clue. So maybe she is more like us than we want to admit.

You just can't make this stuff up.
