Yemen president gets stern warning from Obama press secretary
The United States strongly condemns the use of violence by Yemeni government forces against demonstrators in Sanaa, Taiz and Hodeida in the past several days.
The Yemeni people have a right to demonstrate peacefully, and we remind
President Ali Abdullah Saleh of his responsibility to ensure the safety and security of Yemenis who are exercising their universal right to engage in political expression.
We call upon the Government of Yemen to conduct full investigations into these events and to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
The United States strongly supports the Yemeni people in their quest for greater opportunity and their pursuit of political and economic reform that will fulfill their aspirations.
President Saleh needs to resolve the political impasse with the opposition so that meaningful political change can take place in the near term in an orderly and peaceful manner.
We call upon all sides to engage in a constructive political dialogue and to chart a course that puts Yemen’s unity, progress and future prosperity ahead of individual agendas. ####

Seriously??? This guy looks like little Opie Taylor... Is he someone that Obama brought with him from one of his playground planning events? And he has the credentials to scold anyone???
Some needs to make him go take a "time out" in the corner....
Posted by: Jammer | April 06, 2011 at 06:44 AM
Wow!!! A stern message from Opie Taylor, the President of Yemen must be shaking in his boots. Send in Barney if we have to!

Yes Sir Mr. Carney!! Right away Sir!

Who the hell do these people think they are? What right do we have to tell someone else how to run their county? We can't even run our own! Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. I'm afraid the land I love is teetering on the brink due to the arrogance of those in charge. God have mercy on us all.

Ooooh, you "sternly" tell 'em, Jay. After all, we want to encourage the safest possible transition into the next generation of Western Civilization-hating death cult nihilists.

How was the White House able to find a replacement for Gibbs who has exactly the same voice tone, pitch, and inflection as Gibbs? What are the chances of that? A Gibbs clone?

Wooooooo, the presidential secretary has spoken. And they're trembling in their sandals.
What a little shrimp.
Posted by: kentex1146 | April 06, 2011 at 07:00 AM
Oh, great Jay. Stern words. I'm sure that will have great impact on Abdullah .
So here is our administration, once again, scorning other countries for not providing their citizens the opportunity to speak freely, reform their government (their government mind you...not private business) and utilize their entrepreneurial skills to better themselves.
It's nauseating to continue to hear our Country tell others to do the things they restrict us from doing.
Posted by: guymandoon | April 06, 2011 at 07:01 AM
I bet the president is shaking in his boots... Opie has spoken... LMAO!

Posted by: The Joker | April 06, 2011 at 07:10 AM
Jay Carney lectures the pres of yemen. Bet he's shaking in his boots. WHO are we to tell him to do anything? Bring our troops home, let the UN handle these messes..................we cannot win in the moslem world with their dark age mentality.

This is a joke , right? Who thinks these Arab leaders cares what this kid says?
Posted by: Mike Hernan | April 06, 2011 at 07:23 AM
"The Yemeni people have a right to demonstrate peacefully, and we remind President Ali Abdullah Saleh of his responsibility to ensure the safety and security of Yemenis who are exercising their universal right to engage in political expression"
Says who? Do I personally believe they should have the right to political expression? Of course. But if this is a universal right as Mr. Carney of the White House stated, what else is a universal right that we are going to lecture other world leaders on. Women's rights? I think so, but there are many around the world who do not agree. Religious freedoms, freedom of speech, rights of minorities or homosexuals? Obviously most of us would want these rights protected, but we have allies and business partners around the world that do not feel this way. It hasn't stopped us from having diplomatic or trade relations with them.
Posted by: Kevin Glynn | April 06, 2011 at 07:24 AM
Oh that will really make the Yemenis wake up and take notice....
Carney looks compeltely out of his league and seems like he would rather be anywhere else than performing this lame gig.
This is the most incompetent bunch of nitwits in the history of the POTUS.
Posted by: EJ | April 06, 2011 at 07:25 AM
Wow! Thats what passes for a STERN warning from this administration? I am sure they are quaking in their boots now. A PRESS SECRETARY called them out....they're in for it now!
Obama will now put them on double secret probation!
Posted by: Mikeh | April 06, 2011 at 07:26 AM
Notice Obama's flack didn't use the "D" word, Democracy.
Posted by: Johnny99 | April 06, 2011 at 07:27 AM
Are you kidding me? This is a stern warning? Gaddafi would certainly disagree!
Posted by: George | April 06, 2011 at 07:30 AM
So now we're engaging in helping Muslims topple their Mid East Gov's. In the vacuum what will be the replacement?
Radicals will replace our Dictators in positions of authority. Al-Qaeda will surly then to be able to take control of the whole Middle East and Iran will be right there. All because these Muslims want Sharia..............!
Then where will all the smug smiles be of Obama, Hillary and the rest of our so-called elicits....?
I'll tell you, if you bring up the part they played, they will change the subject, walk off or not say anything. It's the ole Cat in the Litter Box Routine, cover up the smell and hope no ones around to ask intelligent questions.
This is how they operate. A well trained six year old has more brains than our dead beat Leaders ever had...
These decisions they make, makes one wonder if they are all Drug Addicts, hopped up on Free Pills from Big Pharma...........
Posted by: Zrebe | April 06, 2011 at 07:31 AM
You are kidding right? Why don't you throw in the word shame too? That will get 'em. The United States strongly condemns blah, blah, blah. I am sure the Yemeni's feel much better now.
Posted by: maxwell hammer | April 06, 2011 at 07:31 AM
How can any foreign leader seriously consider a warning from a young "baby-faced" press secretary???? Are there no mature looking people around this President?
Posted by: Frank Edmond | April 06, 2011 at 07:35 AM
Wow! I'll bet THAT has 'em shaking in their boots! Carney looks like a child barely able to see over the podium.
Posted by: Robin | April 06, 2011 at 07:39 AM
President Obama, I for one am so disappointed in you !! What you didn't you do the same for the Bahrain and her peaceful demonstrations and the Majority of the people that have the ?!! Why did you send Secretary Robert gates to organize the Wahabi invasion of that Island? You can blow it out of your know what on the Yemen as well, because we don't believe you on this democracy movement!! You are sold out to the oil companies and yes, you have soiled yourself.
Posted by: Esther Haman | April 06, 2011 at 07:42 AM
Why is not our leader Dear Leader not telling them directly?.....Oh I forgot he is busy running for reelection with Al Sharpton and crew…..What a joke.
Posted by: captron | April 06, 2011 at 07:45 AM
Stern warning? No such thing coming from a little weasel like this guy OR the Big-O. The thug dictators of the world are laughing their asses of at america and takin us for a big ride and all you looney lefties that put this big eared dope in to office are to blame. Stupid Voters....."Hope......Change" What a platform. Empty suit that can read a teleprompter good. He probably uses it while in bed with Michelle Ma-belle. Barry + Loony lefties = EPIC FAIL.
Posted by: Reagan | April 06, 2011 at 07:45 AM
Demostrate peacefully.... just lol. Muslims demonstrate peacefully and people get beheaded after Friday prayers. This whole "pro-democracy" movement over there is a sham anyway, and we're stupid to buy into it. How exactly are you going to have a democratic society when you treat women, at least 50% of your society, like dirt.
No sympathy for these crazies, if we're lucky, they'll kill themselves before we have to deal with the problem.

Posted by: Darrel | April 06, 2011 at 07:49 AM
your "related" links to the "Yemen - stern warnings" post made me laugh out loud..reminds me of two kids drawing a line in the dirt and saying "don't cross that line" then re-drawing and doing the same exercise...come to think of it wasn't that exactly what the UN did w/ Saddam ..14 times or so...and he kept crossing the line...over and over again... empty threats are as ineffective as they are gutless...better to just shut up..

I don't get it. "The Yemeni people have a right to demonstrate peacefully, and we remind President Ali Abdullah Saleh of his responsibility to ensure the safety and security of Yemenis who are exercising their universal right to engage in political expression."
What about the Chinese people, the North Koreans, the Saudi's, Iranians, and oh yest the Russians to just name a few. There is a huge and distinct difference between President Obama's foreign policy position(s) and that of his predecessor.
Dubya attacked a country that provided sanction to a leader and his thugs who attacked and our country and killed 3100 human beings on American soil. He also attacked and defeated a dictator who was a sworn enemy of the US, provided safe haven to terrorists, used chemical weapons and exterminated millions of his own people to stay in power. In the process he liberated more than 50 million people from brutal government regimes.
On the other hand, President Obama has gotten ridden of our Egyptian ally without understand who would fill the void (Muslim brotherhood), started bombing Libya with no game plan and has reached out to every other thug on the world scene only to be snapped at and insulted. His very own words show his absolute disdain for our country and he has us on a path to economic armageddon.
2012 can't get here soon enough.

Dear Infidel American Pig Dog Son of Goat Droppings,
Get your own house in order
President Ali Abdullah Saleh
Posted by: From the Yemen President | April 06, 2011 at 08:06 AM
Wow...yes. I can see the Yemenis shaking in their sandals. More waving the wooden sword by the man-child wearing the newspaper hat in the Oval Office. Throw a few profound cliche's at the bad guys, while the real issues requiring tough decisions and hard choices get swept under the sofa.
What's next? Telling Ali Abdullah Saleh that if he doesn't behave, he won't be allowed to go to the prom? "...and you can forget about the keys to the car this weekend!"
In any event, I'm glad Obama has his priorities straight. Hitting the campaign trail and playing Joe Cool to packs of drooling, bobble-headed, estrogen-charged sycophants is oh so much more fun than being a real grown up president.

Why is Mr. Carney warning foreign nations is that not the job of the leader. Which in this case is Mr. Obama . Although U hope it will not be for much longer. We cannot continue to send children to do the job that requires an adult.

This witless drone is the perfect personification of this spineless and clueless administration.
Obama was eager to push Mubarak off the cliff - Gaddafi too - and now look what we have: The Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda jockeying for control. Pretty soon, with Obama's blessing, the entire Middle East will be taken over by Muslim extremists and the region will erupt in violence. However, as a closet Muslim (he's NOT a Christian...) that's exactly what he wants.
Hope all the Obama voters are happy.
Posted by: MrLogical | April 06, 2011 at 08:32 AM
First: this message is SO important that the press secretary delivers it. Saleh is probably saying"who?"... where's Hillary? Does the SOS even know this statement was released?
Second: this press secretary looks like he's 10 years old.
What a useless, pointless action.
Posted by: Diane | April 06, 2011 at 08:33 AM
Pic of Carney says it all - whata stud lecturing anyone about anything let alone how another country should handle its internal affairs - This whole administration is impotent and incompetent and so very dangerous - Will 2012 ever get here ?
