Donald Trump releases his birth certificate, demands Obama does the same
Donald Trump, like a hungry dog unwilling to let go of a bone, not only refuses to stop attacking President Obama over his birth certificate, but Monday released his own certificate of birth to a conservative website.
Trump, the billionaire television star and real estate mogul, was on "Fox and Friends" Monday morning beating the "birther" drum.
"Why doesn't he show his birth certificate?" Trump asked the hosts of the talk show, echoing what he repeated on "The View" last week. "I wish he would, because I think it's a terrible pale that's hanging over him."
Later Trump, who has hinted at running for the Republican nomination for president, placed doubt upon Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie's statement that he remembers Obama as a baby in Hawaii.
"What bothers me is that some people who should know better are trying to use this for political reasons," Abercrombie said in late 2010. "Maybe I'm the only one in the country that could look you right in the eye right now and tell you, 'I was here when that baby was born.' "
Trump, however, thinks that Abercrombie, a Democrat, is defending Obama for political reasons.
"I think this guy should be investigated," Trump said of Abercrombie. "He remembers when Obama was born; give me a break. He is just trying to do something for his party."
Some claim the president was born in Africa and thus does not meet constitutional requirements to hold the nation's highest office. Those who don't believe Obama was born in Hawaii are often called birthers. Trump has defended the birthers and went a step further Monday when he released his birth certificate to Newsmax.
"It took me one hour to get my birth certificate. It’s inconceivable that, after four years of questioning, the president still hasn’t produced his birth certificate," Trump told the website, ignoring Obama's Certificate of Live Birth that has been on the Ticket, and elsewhere, for years.
Trump may be aggressive, but he hasn't gone as far as conservative Allen Keyes went in 2009.
"The person you call President Obama, and I frankly refuse to call him that, at the moment he is somebody who is kind of an alleged usurper, who is alleged to be someone who is occupying that office without constitutional warrant to do so," Keyes, who lost to Obama for U.S. Senate seat in 2004, stated in a long tirade.

Did Trump's certificate specify the individual trailer, or just the park?

Please note that Mr. Trump did not release his birth certificate but rather a hospital certificate that he was born there. Those are two completely different certificates.
Posted by: KER | March 28, 2011 at 03:08 PM
That's not a real birth certificate. It's a hospital issued souvenir document. He wouldn't be able to get a passport with it. A real birth certificate would be on file with the New York City Dept of Health, although he would have the option of ordering a computer generated abstract or a "vault certificate" (which Hawaii doesn't give an option of ordering a certified copy).

Though they feature some of the same words, a "Certificate of Live Birth" and a "Birth Certificate" are NOT the same thing. One only certifies that someone reported a birth of a live child, the other officially confirms and records the child's identity and details of his birth.
A "Certificate of Live Birth" would not be accepted at the DMV for a driver's license, or at the post office for a passport.
Please Mr. Obama, go ahead and release the proper legal document (like every previous president has done) so that we can put an end to this birther nonsence once and for all and show the world what an idiot Mr. Trump is for doubting your word.

Barack Obama released his birth certificate in 2008 while running for Senator of Illinois. The point is moot. Funny how nobody ever asked for proof like this of other Presidents.

Whar is long form, Donald? Whar?

That's a commemorative hospital certificate which is NOT valid for any official use, unlike the state issued one Obama published.

Smoking Gun just proved the document above IS NOT TRUMP's REAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE!

Keep up the good work--the world was clueless about something being wrong with Obama's birth certificate untill he started sandbagging--the truth (what ever it is) needs to come out.

I actually like Donald Trump. But what's the deal here? He was born IN JAMAICA? That means he can't run for President. Don't try to tell me he was born in New York. Please. It's right there on his birth certificate. Jamaica. Just a little joke, Donald.
Posted by: Richard Wilson | March 28, 2011 at 03:14 PM
He a racist, just like the other birthers. Hes also scared of Obama and looking for any way to get him off the ballot.
Posted by: levi | March 28, 2011 at 03:14 PM
As an independant, I was actually considering Trump as a viable candidate. Until now. Seriously, the birther route? wow.
If you are reading this and you think Pres. Obama wasn't born in the U.S., go get your head examined right now.

It doesn't make logical sense for him to continue hold back on his certificate. The political advantage of making his opponents appear assinine has passed and only leaves three options:
1) The President has something still to gain politically from this move/ underestimates how much of a partisan jerk this move paints him as.
2) He is trying to make a point that he doesn't need to release his private records for a variety of reasons.
3) He doesn't ahve a birth certificate either because he wasn't born in the US, or it was lost or not recorded.
As a moderate, I really don't know which of these options is likely any more.

Now show us your real hair
Posted by: Nester | March 28, 2011 at 03:15 PM
I want to see the state of New York issue "Certificate of Live Birth", not one made by a hospital in Jamacia. Besides, no where does it say Jamacia USA.
I am starting to doubt that this guy is American --- maybe Jamacia? Barbados?? Trinidad & Tobago???
I want USA on the certificate.

A self-serving, media hungry, clown! Nobody wants to see his birth certificate. If he wants to show somethin, show me what that head looks like without that fake helmet he wears for hair.
Posted by: j3161usa | March 28, 2011 at 03:27 PM
Well obviously Donald Trump can't be president! Just look at the birth certificate! It says clear as day at the top: he was born in Jamaica!
Posted by: K | March 28, 2011 at 03:28 PM
He's not "ignoring the certificate of live birth." Whatever you think of this -- either Obama's hiding something or it's the biggest mind-screw since "he kept us out of war" to make his opponents look crazy -- nobody doubts he was born ALIVE. There's the issue of the long-form birth certificate, which is not the same as a certificate of live birth. It's just not.
Call the birthers as nuts as you wish, but a "certificate of live birth" is NOT a "birth certificate," certainly not an original or a long-form.

Donald Trump is a moron.
May he run, as it'd ensure Obama prevails.
Posted by: Jim Kendall | March 28, 2011 at 03:30 PM
Has the President EVER, in his life, needed to show a copy of his birth certificate for identification? Most ALL of us have. I'm not a birther, but please... Showing a birth certificate is an act common as American apple pie. Strange. Very strange that Obama would not have a copy or a record of his birth and be willing to put all the "birthers" call for it to shameful rest. Strange. Very strange
Posted by: Mike Beall | March 28, 2011 at 03:30 PM
This isn't a Birth Certificate. This is the document that the hospital gives to the parents. A Birth Certificate is issued by the state in which the birth occurred--like the one that President Obama has released.
Posted by: Albert Engebretson | March 28, 2011 at 03:30 PM
How is it you failed to mentioned that the birth certificate Trump released is not an official birth certificate issued by the state of New York? It's a hospital issued certificate which is not the same thing. Furthermore, anybody with access to the Internet can see a copy of Obama's birth certificate. So either Trump is ignorant or just lying to stir up controversy neither of which strengthens his case to be elected President. I suppose either,or both, may improve his chances winning the GOP nomination however.

Nobody cares about your birth certificate Don. There is no chance you will ever be President of the US of A.

Posted by: Fuready | March 28, 2011 at 03:33 PM
Mr. Trump, do you think that just beacuse you released your certificate President Obama has to do the same? He is the president and can have a certificate forged at any time he wants and you will never know the authenticity. Just live with the fact that he is the president and that you will never hold his job.

I believe not what most people say as most will and most all politicians will lie to just about everyone .
But I believe in the documents and if someone runs for president of the United States, then per the law they must be born in the United States, thus you should be required to prove your birth with the required documents and thus your citizenship in order to hold the office of the Presidency.
No different than providing the documents to an employer who is looking to hire you, provide the proper legal documents or the employer (us the United States Citizens who hired you) should fire you for being unqualified and undocumented.

An original Birth Certificate shows the name of the doctor who performed or attested to the birth, where the birth occurred, the name of the mother and other information. BO has chosen for some reason or another to deny the American people this information. This can only breed questions about his birth.

What do you mean attacking...It's about time.
Posted by: mike | March 28, 2011 at 03:42 PM
Obama needs to produce the form the State of Hawaii claims they are holding. Obama claims he was born in a specific hospital in Hawaii. The form the State of Hawaii should be from that hospital and include the name of the doctor that made the delivery and several witnesses.
If it is not the type of form from that hospital it raises questions. Is it the type of birth form that his grandmother could have signed for with no verification or witnesses? If so, why did Obama lie and would he be guilty of perjury or voter fraud as he signed Declarations he was eligible to hold the office of the President?

I want to see the Long form!

You cannot get a passport or a driver's license in the USA with a hospital issued birth certificate. Where abouts in Jamaica were you born Donny - Kingston?

He's not going anywhere. People need to deal with it. Shouldn't you have more to worry about, Trump? Like doing something with that hair perhaps?

Mr.Trump
Could you release all your divorce and financial records also?
Posted by: Edward Andersen | March 28, 2011 at 03:50 PM
That's not a legal birth certificate. It's a souvenir document given to the parents by the hospital. it is not valid in a court of law. Ooops.
Posted by: Chilidog | March 28, 2011 at 03:52 PM
This is not a state-issued birth certificate, but rather a keepsake that the hospital issues to new parents on the joyous occasion of their child's birth. I demand that Donald Trump release the State of New York's official long-form birth certificate, and prove that he's a citizen!
Posted by: Montanamommy | March 28, 2011 at 03:52 PM
I thought this guy was smarter than this. What a joke he is.Few people have their original birth certificate. The proof of birth is on file in the county clerk's office where you were born. I guess someone 44 years ago sent a birth announcement to the paper in Hawaii anticipating that Barack Obama would run for president. These birthers are so full of hate at the thought that a black person is in the white house, they just can't stand it, so they make themselves look like complete fools to try to stir up controversy. Good luck idiots.
Posted by: pattyo | March 28, 2011 at 03:53 PM
Folks, this is all that conservatives have. They cannot successfully debate Obama on policy, so they resort to pouting and tantrums like this. YAWN.
Obama did provide his birth certificate. There is nothing more that he can do that will satisfy these small minded troglodytes. Frankly, I believe such stunts are nothing more than an expression of ignorance and racism.
Conservatives, I savor the sweet taste of your tears.

I looked at the 'revealed' birth certificate and it wasn't like mine. No hospital name nor doctor's name. Maybe his hippie mom had Barry at home. But still, I suspect that there is info other than just the names of mom and pop on a home delivery birth certificate. Sorry, no QED here, although I wish it was.

Trump is just embarrassing himself now. Anyone with half a brain knows that Obama is as American as Bush, or Clinton, or 40 others who have held the highest office in the land before him.
I think some people just get confused by the term African-American. "Are they African? Are they American? I just don't know!" Yes, Virginia, there are black Americans. They are real. And what little evidence we have suggests they can be darn good at the whole POTUS thing.
