Lowest ever: Obama job approval sinks to 39%, as even Democrats' support melts away
President Obama has passed the Big 4-0 -- going the wrong way.
Turns out voters were not simply satisfied to spank the Democrat and his party in the Nov. 2 midterm elections with historic losses in the House of Representatives.
Obama's job approval rating as calculated by the Zogby Poll has now sunk to 39%, a new low for his 22-month presidency that began with so much hope and excitement and poll numbers up around 70. As recently as Sept. 20, his job approval was 49%.
A whopping 60% now disapprove of his job, up from 51% disapproval Sept. 20.
Obama now trails in hypothetical 2012 matchups against Republicans Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and the next Bush, Jeb.
And, oh, my! Lookee here! Obama has even fallen into a statistical tie with none other than Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor.
How embarrassing that is because other polls have shown a majority of Americans believe she is unqualified for the presidency. So it appears many have now decided, on second thought after a nearly two-year test drive, Obama looks that way too.
Obama began losing the support of independents in the summer of 2009, as he responded to polls showing voter concerns focused on the economy by staging 59 town hall meetings on healthcare. Independents were a crucial part of his coalition win in 2008 but have now dwindled to 39%.
Only 6% of Republicans, not surprisingly, approve of Obama's job performance. But younger voters, also crucial in the ex-state senator's convincing defeat of John McCain, now approve by only 42%.
Nearly 7 in 10 likely voters say the country is on the wrong track, rarely a good sign for incumbents.
But, Zogby notes, perhaps most ominous for the president is that he's now losing support among his own party people. His approval plopped nearly 10% in just one week, from 78% down to 72% in Zogby's latest read.
Obama, John Zogby writes, "is failing to please more than one-fourth of his own party’s voters. This is a perilous position for the President.
"Conventional wisdom calls for him to reach for the center and assume that Democrats will stay with him in 2012. But as we saw in the mid-terms, Democrats can't win without strong turnout from the young and minorities, both of which are demographics that need more motivation than others to vote."
Former governor Romney fares the best against Obama (44-38%), then comes Gingrich (43%-39%), then another former governor, Jeb Bush (40%-38%), who says he is not running. Palin ties (40%-41%). Obama does, however, destroy developer Donald Trump (39%-29%) and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg (32%-13%). (A separate Quinnipiac Poll Monday found Obama in dead heats with either Romney or former Gov. Mike Huckabee.)

Obama probably thought he could get away with his community organizer charade and the people would continue to fall for it; however, people became wise early and are now seeing what a huge mistake voting for him is turning out to be. Hard to now find anyone who voted for him. That, to me, is very telling of his chances in '12. He is done, d-o-n-e! Stick a fork in him. I am loving it.

It will be fun to watch the liberal media cry and pout when Sarah becomes the POTUS! She is going to sweep the map and win by a landside!

This is unbelievable. How can there be 39% of those polled who approve of this disaster. If this man wins re-election, there is something terribly wrong with the electorate.

Obama cares not a bit! Worries about everything but the economy. The man is a communist, wishes for our demise. Where is Marcus Garvey when you need him?

As a small business owner in California, here is my point of view:
Our Congress voted for a healthcare bill without telling us what it would cost employers.
Since it was passed so hastily, we can only assume that the costs will be quite high. Add that burden to the fact we're in the middle of the worst recession since World War 2.
If that is the case, we need to build a reserve of money to pay for those new taxes. (Small businesses cannot rely on any help from the banks. They aren't lending, even to companies with perfect credit.)
In order to build that financial safety net, we cannot hire, even if we would like to.
The healthcare bill should have been examined carefully and presented to the Congress and the American people with the exact costs and benefits. If that had happened, I am confident there would be less unemployment today.

Obama just gave another $3 BILLION away to Israel to try to buy their compliance with his peace initiative. I am pro-Israel, but Obama needs to stop giving away money to foreign countries while more and more people are out of work and hungry (14.7% in the US this month) right here in the US.
Despite the shellacking, Obama still doesn't get it. 2012.

Don't worry liberals, Obama won't slip past 30%. That's the number of you that will never admit you were wrong. This is what happens when you elect a President without even asking for I.D.. Now, instead of his National Socialist utopia, we'll usher in the next Reagan in record time. Thank you for that.
Obama appoligists like "Posted by: angellight | November 23, 2010 at 05:21 AM" typify exactly why National Socialism is an epic failure. Yet they still crow on about "if only he tried...blah, blah, blah".
I'm gleeful to report, YOU STILL DON'T GET IT! And I don't want you to. Keep Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi right out front and center. With their mugs as a constant reminder to the voters, the GOP should get a super majority in the House, Senate, and the big prize in 2012.

If you click the link to the Zogby Poll you will find out that they took the numbers from on-line participants and everyone knows that those who tend to take on-line polls are tea party/republicans.
I never really understood tea party people... They say they want to get back to the original constitution but they do not understand that without amendments even women wouldn't have the right to vote. They say that T.E.A. stands for "Taxed Enough Already" yet we all know the statistics of the southern red states and all of them get back more in federal dollars than they actually pay in. The whole concept of the boston tea party was taxation without representation and it's a fact that all the red states get more representation than the blue states. Just take a look at the population of California and compare that with Louisiana or Oklahoma or any other southern red state and there is no comparison. 30 million vs. 4 million? Yet each state gets two U.S. Senators.

Some people question whether or not he is trying? He is trying and succeeding in destroying our country. He has shown the enemy that we have succumbed to their terror by the actions of the TSA at airports. He and his cronies are sending a message to the terrorists...we are weak and getting weaker...strike at will. Anyone that doesn't believe this guy hates America and wants to see it destroyed, has their head in the sand.

Who are the 39% who still support this fool? Why is it still that high?
Posted by: Doug | November 23, 2010 at 06:47 PM
It is sad that some people, including the President, do not realize that this country has always been a socialist country, but for the rich.

39% is way to high for him.

Ahhhh Barack, what a colossal failure you have been and I was a supporter. I want you out as bad as I wanted Bush out. In the last 12 years we've had a complete idiot with some executive experience comparatively speaking to a juvenile community organizer and it shows blatantly and badly.

For those "TRUE BELIEVERS" who think he would govern from the center had it not been for Pelosi & Reid, wake up. Dictator Hugo Chavez has joked that Obama is to the left of himself & Fidel Castro. Take a look at another headline from today.
"CARACAS, Venezuela - During his most recent blanket television broadcast, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez took the opportunity to embrace President Obama, inviting him to join him in the construction of a new world order."
"Chávez was responding to President Obama's recent quip about diverting Air Force One in order to pay Caracas a visit. Leaving a NATO summit in Portugal, the president joked, according to a tweet by CBS reporter Mark Knoller, about having "AF-1 fly home via South America so he could visit Hugo Chavez."
"Chávez went on, jovially stating that, were Obama to pay him a visit, both leaders would “sit down to talk, to eat socialist arepas,” a corn-based pancake popular in the country."
The biggest threat to the United States sadly is the man who is charged with protecting it. Sadly we're stuck with the most least qualified and experienced individuals to ever hold the office, he gives the term "Empty Suit" new meaning.

There was a time when a Democrat was a loyal American ... today a Democrat is either an ignorant idiologue or simply a parasite looking for something for nothing.
Obama is DISGUSTING in every conceivable way. Worst President in our 220 year history, he blows away Carter, and Carter was just god-awful, I remember his like it was yesterday ... oh yeah, I forgot it WAS yesterday with Carter shooting his mouth off again at the ripe old age of 80.
I'm 53, I know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. If you're under 40 ... you know little. By the way, the article is about what I'd expect from Los Angeles, a superficial piece. I left L.A. 20 years ago, best damn decision I ever made. Your Mayor sucks, your city sucks, I know ... I've been all over the world ... L.A. vs. Mogadishu? It's a toss-up!

Dale asks "Is anyone really surprised by these numbers"? Yes, I can't believe the number is that high!!! There are still 39% of the people out there who appear to have opted for a frontal lobotomy before answering the question of wheter they approve of the the job O Bow Mao is doing.

There's a reason why we're supposed to an honest and hopefully competant press. It is - or was - SUPPOSED to "vet" our presidential candidates. The vetting process would flush out the wackos and hotheads and, theoretically - the Marxists and "America haters" - extremists from both ends of the spectrum. Our press FAILED - they fawned, the had "thrills run up their legs" the swooned - the orchestrated a coronation.
So, in the case of Obama the "process" FAILED - and we have a pseudo-intellectual "academic" - Chicago Machine politician who brought his cronies, union pals, academic crazies and the rest of the flotsam and jetsom - along with his radical political doctrine.
We have only OURSELVES to blame - well not me personally - but - ya know.
Posted by: Jamesb | November 23, 2010 at 08:12 PM
I love the people that defend this guy on this poll. He has 11% of the NATIONAL vote from African Americans, 15% of the NATIONAL vote from college students and teachers and 10% of the vote from the overpaid drones in unions. So, that accounts for 36% approval. That means if you know someone who isn't black, unionized or under 22 - they can't stand Obama.
Speak your mind, avoid political correctness and call for this fraud to show his eligibility, his college record or his overseas funding. IMPEACH OBAMA NOW!
He's a radical fraud and anyone who doubts this is part of the problem...
Posted by: George Pinecroll | November 23, 2010 at 08:13 PM
Politics aside, the real problem Obama is facing now is a question of competency - starting with Obama personally and reaching down through his entire administration. The "word" is that O is more interested in watching hoops on ESPN than staying through an entire meeting.
Come on already - and people made fun of Reagan for falling asleep? At least he was IN the meetings.
We may not like a president here or there but IF we respect their competency we'll go along with certain policies - like Nixon in China or Carter with Egypt and Israel, whatever - what's going on with this White House?

i just finished scrolling thru most of the posts ... what impresses me most is the fact that so many of them are not favorable commentary on Mr. Obama ... so let me add my 2 cents ...i'm not a partisan, i'm an american ... and i'm paid to provide common sensical solutions to complex problems ... in that regard, i'm baffled how Mr. Obama continues to insist on applying ideology (which simply doesn't work in actual practice), when the real solution is in front of him and would buy him political capital since it will work, but i digress (e.g. profiling combined with random full body searches at the airport) ... nope, instead let's increase the burden on the entire air travel industry (at a time when it is still reeling financially) by subjecting all the masses/customer base to humiliation ... i can just see it now ... when the airlines begin to slip further towards insolvency (because of gov't involvement) ... Mr. Obama will step in and propose a GM-styled rescue (i.e. which is akin to gov't control of ownership) ... in essence, gov't which created the problem ... is offered as the solution to it ... common sensical? i think not ...

Obama will just keep sinking! Instead of spending any time in the white house he is already in Indiana campaigning for 2012. He's touting his bailout of GM, but what he isn't saying is that his admininistration has bought 25% of the hybrids effectively continuing the subsidies. The man just can't quit lying!
To make matters worse, there is a crisis in Korea but Obama is in Indiana campaigning.
Obama has not earned a second term!

How stupid do you have to be to think that a President that would assist in the bail out Wall Street, bring back Bernanke and continue the same basic foreign policies in Iraq and Afghanistan is a socialist, communist, etc.?
Stupid enough to vote for George W. Bush twice!
(begin sarcasm) Yeah, you "conservatives" that think you have figured out Obama are surefire geniuses... (end sarcasm)

I should write a book about this. The similarities between Obama's presidency and the Titanic.
People clamoring to get on board the maiden voyage of an inspirational, charismatic, unsinkable ship. Captain and designer going for speed records without regard to their passengers' safety. In the end calamity for most everybody.
Global warming was happening 100 years ago or else the Titanic wouldn't have hit the ice berg. It's still warming since the last ice age. And when the planet wobbles as it does every 10K years or so, half of north america will be under an ice sheet again and the sahara desert will be covered in lakes. Our geological history proves that to be true.
Obama is not salvation, not even close. He's not even a good multi-tasking manager. The Titanic passengers are realizing this now, as it becomes obvious that the ship of their dreams is starting to go down without enough life rafts.

Obama is the weakest president this country has ever had. The rest of the world sees Obama as as a lesser Jimmy Carter. He has no sense of how to run the government and relies on his left wing cronies to tell him what to do. If we survive the next two years it will be a miracle. Obama may be academically smart, but he is severely handicapped when it comes to running our country. He has become and emabarrassment to the country and a laughing stock of the world,

All I can say is that we tried to warn those who thought this socialist pig was the second coming and it turns out that he is no better than a con artist, two bit thug from the streets of Chicago! His So-called Father was a communist. His Mother was a liar and from his college days to 2007 he put Anti American, hippy thugs around him to form the ideals that he now possesses! This P.O.S must be defeated in 2012 or our nation as we know it will not exist. W.W.R.D (What Would Reagan Do?)

Worst and most damaging president of ALL times in America.
Doesn't care what Americans really want to see....instead continues to install his socialistic values that will eventually crater our way of life as we have known it over the past 200 plus years.
The worst part, he is still in office for another couple of years. God help America, please!
