Opinion: Gallup poll shocker: Most Americans were healthy yesterday

Finally, a poll with good news, especially since it has nothing to do with politics. Or, perhaps, because it has nothing to do with politics.

While you were snoring, Gallup released the exciting research findings that about 85% of us were not sick with allergies yesterday.

That’s a higher percentage of the population than disapproves of Congress, which is, as always, preparing for its next recess.

And it’s even a much, much higher percentage than those who find Sarah Palin unqualified for the presidency. If you can believe there is such a thing.

According to this self-reported data, about 15% of U.S. adults said they were sick with allergy symptoms on any given day in October, down from almost 17% in September.

Even more good news! Can you stand it? Historical trends suggest that by January, when the new Congress opens and holiday bills start to arrive, only 1-in-10 Americans will report allergy symptoms on any given day.

Which is a sneezing shame for that one.

But it’s really great for the other nine of us.
