George W. Bush makes surprise visit to U.S. troops

Republican President George W Bush and Laura Bush visit US reoops at the USO at Dallas Forth Worth airport 8-11-10

Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, made a surprise visit to U.S. troops this afternoon.

They showed up at the USO in the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. There they mingled with the returning soldiers, thanked them, chatted and posed for photos as proof of the unexpected encounter for folks back home.

The USO just posted an assortment of the photos on its Facebook page, which quickly drew a growing list of appreciative comments.

"What an AWESOME moment," Robert Rowe wrote. "If anyone can't see the President and First Lady's love for our nations troops, they must be dead or blind. May God Bless them ALL !" Richard Cruz wrote: "The look on that kid's face says it all...."

And Shirley Lovely Fry added: "A President and First Lady who love their country and their country's military."

"Do you Miss Me Yet?" Yes, GWB, I do.

I think this is the sign of a true patriot and a caring man.

Nice... I bet the troops appreciated seeing a Commander in Chief they actually respect.. And who respects them back.

Good morale boost for them.

The former presidents sincerity still is felt by the troops.Contact between him and the soldiers is palpable.kareem ramadan everyone.

That's my President! History will be far kinder to him in the long run.

What a great story. One thing I loved about former President Bush was his unwavering commitment to our troops.

Now----THAT is a President !

Like him as President or not George W. Bush always showed appreciation for the men & women who sacrifice for us daily. Such a glaring difference between Laura & Michelle....Notice please liberals-why I know you do not like President Bush-please notice this visit like ALL his visits to troops, even when President was done without press, without fanfare & most of all without even a teleprompter.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED OOPS IT WASN'T. Now that Obama is returning our troops home Bush is taking the credit. Our troops know Bush never cared about them for the 8 years he was in office but their respecting the title of President. When you see the thousands of soldiers cheer Obama but these are a few smiling for a photo op for Bush. During the years Bush was President my son said an ad was made for Bush with soldiers making statements of support but they were paid a bonus of 1000 dollars to do it. I asked why the soldiers had to be paid he said because they were told to read a statement that everyone knew was a lie, but they needed the extra money. One soldier had to be paid to greet and cheer for Obama. Obama listen to the troops and Americans who wanted the War to end and it happen. Bush made a deal with Satan and nothing will change that. Look the picture of the African American soldier smiling and getting paid to do it. I guess this is another fake story we'll read about in Bush's book of lies. I'll never forget when Bush said God told him to be President and we see the results was Satan told Bush to be President we see the results.

A REAL PRESIDENT!

How nice of them to take time out and visit our troops.
Yes, I do miss Bush. He may not be the gracious speaker Obummer is, but there is no doubt that what he says comes from his heart and not a teleprompter. He loves our troops.
He did what he thought was right when he was in office and every democrat agreed that we should invade Iraq because of the weapons everyone thought Hussien had. He has left Obummer alone as a courtesy to the incoming president and has not said one critical thing about him and his party. Obummer on the other hand can only blame Bush or scream racism when someone criticizes him.

I can't understand the venom that has been voiced about Bush. He's honorable, stubborn, knowledgeable, forthright, in other words, I like him. He's unafraid to expose himself, flaws and all.
Comparing his policy's that where challenged by the left, then after a year in half of "Change to Believe in", what I see is a great deal of Bush's policies still in place.
Where is the left, why aren't they crying, marching, burning their Obama for president posters? The reason is simple, Bushes policy's worked then and they are working now..... What the country needs is Obama retired and Jeb Bush president or Palin President and Jeb Bush Vice President..... thats a ticket we could believe in...............

I love GWB. I am so sick of Nancy Pelosi and her crew. Democrats mean one thing - higher taxes, political slop about being a do gooder and then taking as much as they can. Just look at Clinton - born in an outhouse and now worth millions. His big problem is that he will always be remembered for the stained dress. America is so pathetic.

Jacieca !!!! You drank Obummers Koolaid

I cannot believe that people still think this man was anywhere close to being a good president. Thousands of these men and women are dead because of his total disreguard for the value of peoples lives, and totally destroyed everything our great country stood for. He will go down as the worst president ever. Is this country better or worse than it was when he took over ? Time will tell how bad he and his cronnies really raked us over the coals. He makes Nixon look like a girl scout. The only good thing is that he showed how far off the grid a republican is willing to go. The world has been enlightened. Bubeye GOP . At least you all got rich from selling out the people.

Too bad he couldn't meet the caskets coming back, but they didn't allow cameras at those events, did they.

Worst President in the last half century, at least.

Jackieca....How long have you been off your meds?

Jackieca: Really? what planet are you from? i am astonished that people like you actually exist.....wow, just wow

I just recently left the military and I can assure you could be no further from the trouth. Talk to someone who is actually in the military and see for yourself how they will compare our past two presidents.

What a devoted servant of the New World Order and the G-8! He has no obligation whatsoever to give these loyal troops a visit and he does so on his own free time. He truly understands how bad this economy needs its poor people to go fight for our resources in energy rich countries. Its too bad there is no audio so we could hear his endearing southern drawl.

WAR CRIMINAL!!!

Obama: teleprompter-reliant, even young Scouts BOO HIM !!!

Bush: These troops are BEAMING ! YOU CANNOT FAKE THIS !!!

My heart is heavy for all our troops - they deserve a true leader - someone who has their back, prays for them every night (you know GW did/does), respects them immensely, and loves them whole-heartedly.

Libs always did and will disrespect the military. And the military knows this.

W and Laura are very genuine people and the love and admiration they have for our troops is quite evident. The smiles and the looks on the soldiers' faces are beyond heartwarming.

I wouldn't view this and use it as an opportunity to discredit the current President - as much as I disagree with his policies - but I just love these images because the joy in them is overwhelming.

Just wonderful. What a contrast to the two who currently inhabit the White House. President and Mrs. Bush make my heart swell with pride.

A good man, a great president, and a great Commander-in-Chief.

We miss him. Semper Fi.

History WILL be kind to President Bush.

Hopefully, it will not take so long as for him to not witness it.

That would be a travesty.

(Tho, I do believe he may be getting a taste of it even now).

YES !!!!

I LOVE President Bush and the First Lady, Laura Bush, they my friends and fellow Americans are both class acts, and have Always been proud of their country and the love the soldiers who defend our freedom! God Bless President Bush and Mrs. Bush, God Bless our brave American Troops and God Bless America! Pray to God for our country, these are tough times. Say No to the building of the mosque at ground zero-remember 911 and the innocent lives taken by the Islamic terrorists.

I really do miss Bush. I miss a president with honor and integrity.

Jackieca, those are some bold statements you're making about soldiers being paid to cheer President Bush. I have only one response:

PROVE IT!

We're waiting . . .

Jakieca, You should teach your son not to lie. It sounds to me like he's got some serious issues. Tell him if he didn't like the "DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL" policy then he shouldn't have joined!

@ Jackieca

Loser much?

interesting...

What a lovely thing to do of our military. I adore First Lady Laura, she's the sweetest lady ever, a genuine person. I miss having a man such as President George Bush as our President. I feel very insecure with Barack Obama. I'm scared nearly everyday for our country. We don't know anything about him to be true, there's no records of his available. I don't ever remember being left so blinded and how we let this stranger be elected to run our country. It's very scary and very sad.
I'm happy to see real Americans such as Laura & George Bush so proud and happy to sincerely be doing this when they don't have to. They make me feel proud too.

Jackieca- your obviously a moron of the worst kind. Pres. Bush, didn't call the press for this stop, he did it on his own accord. Unlike the personator in office who would rather play golf than visit our troops. Or Mrs. Obama taking a world class vacation on our dime- when is the last time you could afford to take a vacation like that? The difference is like night and day. If Pres. Obama did this, he would have notified the media both far a wide. Everything that man does is calculated. I guess George Soros and the Labor Unions that control Obama didn't give him his kitchen pass to go visit our troops this week.

I'll never forget when Bush said God told him to be President and we see the results was Satan told Bush to be President we see the results.

Jackieca,

Demonizing a man is just as wrong-headed as deifying one.

:-)

I can tell you about a group of people that don't see him as a WAR criminal.

My cousin is visiting us from Sweden this summer and her husband is a Kurd.

He grew up 10 miles from the villages that Saddam gassed thousands of men, women and children.

I can assure you...he does not view Bush as a criminal. It's all a matter of perspective.

People in places like Kurdistan, Somalia and Darfur don't carry much weight in the Left wings plans for our world....so no efforts on their behalf are deemed worthwhile.

NOW....fanatical Islamists....we must embrace them....right?

Fools and Cowards...all of you.

This is not a Commander and Chief any military personal I know love and respect.
After all, he's the guy that lied to the nation and the world and what is the result of that? Thousands of dead and injured US military personal, and for what??

STILL. WORST. PRESIDENT. EVER.

It's good to see President Bush and the First Lady again. As quatidion notes, "A good man, a great president, and a great Commander-in-Chief."

Obummer is so busy playing golf, partying and taking vacation after vacation on the tax payer's dime that he simply doesn't have the time for what's important. GWB and LB always did and still do. Honorable people.

God bless you President George W. Bush, the greatest president in american history. Thank you for keeping us safe for over 7 years, for taking the fight to our enemy, for your great and inspiring leadership after 9/11 and bringing the USA back on its feet, for liberating Iraq and Afghanistan and giving hope to millions, for getting saddam hussein, for saving millions in Africa from AIDS and malaria, for lowering my taxes, for rejuvinating the vast marshlands in Iraq thereby being the greatest environmental president in history, for being the first president in american history to encourage and fund adult stem cell research thereby being a hero of stem cell research, for having the record for the most consecutive months of job growth of any president in history, from saving thousands in Louisianna and New Orleans by pushing the negligent mayor and governor to evacuate their citizens and being the only one to help those poor people, for giving some of the greatest speeches of any president in history, especially after 9/11, for Justice Roberts and Justice Alito, for giving my elderly mother cheaper prescription drugs, for having to deal with more than almost any president in american history has had too, for your honesty, integrity and character and bringing honor back to the office of the presidency and for making me proud to be an american. Boy, do we miss you now.

These photos brought tears to my eyes. I want to run up and give GW and Laura a hug.

Each of the lib posters that posted their venomous garbage truly sound disturbed. Nothing more than lib talking points. In contrast, W and his lovely wife, Laura, continue to be the classy folks they are. They have always loved the troops and always will. God bless them.

I miss George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States of America. Cheers.

Great pictures. I miss Bush.

I forgot what this felt like. I miss having a president in office who actually loves his troops, and the country and its people. I miss having a president and first lady who told Americans that they were good people, and urged them to their better selves, instead of constantly scolding them and suggesting that they're not good enough. I miss having a president who ALWAYS treated the opposition with respect and NEVER said a bad word about his predecessor. I miss having a president who behaved like a man, and never complained. I miss having a president who the world knew MEANT what he said. I miss having a president who served all Americans, not just the ones who voted for him. I miss having a president who looked at Africa and saw people dying of malaria and AIDS and said "we have to help," even if it wasn't a popular move, and even if the press refused to credit him with saving millions of lives. I miss having a president who talked about liberty and democracy. I miss 4.5% unemployment. I miss 6% unemployment. I miss reading (as we did in 2006) that tax receipt were at their historical high, because EVERYONE WAS WORKING. I miss having vacations. I miss having a president who can be warm and can speak without a teleprompter. I miss having a president who seems to actually give a crap about this country, and not just about his party, and his agenda. I miss having a president who understood America. And I miss having a slightly-boring but always-gracious First Lady.

God, I miss them.

Shame on you, J. Smith. Your deadbeat president is in office now, and by your own (lack of) reasoning, Obama is a war criminal.

People like you were the ones that spit on soldiers when they returned from Vietnam.

I bet you would never say such hateful things about an islamic terrorist, would you? We know who you support and who you don't.

I pity the fool.

God Bless George Bush!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU MR. PRESIDENT
The greatest president of my generation.

Jackieca, you're an idiot. President Bush agreed to the Iraq withdrawal back in December 2008. He signed the accord in Baghdad, alongside Prime Minister Al-Maliki(sp).

http://articles.latimes.com/2008/jul/19/world/fg-usiraq19

So let's reword your uneducated phrase. It's OBAMA that is trying to take credit for President Bush's work.

This is Bush's war. All the deaths, all the blood, it's on his hands.
