Top political strategist Woody Allen thinks Obama would get much more done as dictator; No, really
The notorious and formerly funny movie director Woody Allen is apparently frustrated with the cumbersome operations of American democracy too.
The one-time-father-now-husband-of-his-daughter tells the Spanish-language magazine La Vanguardia that the United States' Democratic Smoker-in-Chief could accomplish a whole lot more from his White House if he didn't have so many disorderly, annoying people objecting, distracting and criticizing him all the time.
Such social messiness has been known to occur in functioning democracies, even cinematic ones, although less often on celebrity-strewn movie sets under the direction of a dictatorial director.
"It would be good...if (Obama) could be dictator for a few years because he could do a lot of good things quickly," Allen is quoted as saying.
Allen is also said to have said:
I am pleased with Obama. I think he is brilliant. The Republican Party should get out of his way and stop trying to hurt him.
With healthcare and the economy now fully fixed, no doubt one area in urgent need of sweeping Obama-style reforms would be targeting movie reviewers who write negatively about Hollywood. Or about its politician favorites.

I remember how I felt when I found out he was basically a pervert: the same way I felt when I found out there was no Santa Claus. I can't even watch his movies anymore. He is obviously insane.

Uhm, couldn't the same argument be made over & over for the Republicans, that the Democrats wouldn't get out of the way? It's all a sham. Shame on this idiot for taking his popularity and making such broad and one-sided statements.

What a complete idiot! Useless and complete!

And we are listening to this moron why?
Posted by: David | May 18, 2010 at 06:03 AM
I remember when Woody Allen had a lucid mind. Those days are long over.
Posted by: lvnm | May 18, 2010 at 06:04 AM
Who cares what Woody Allen thinks? Why do people take what movie stars and other famous people think as if they were some sort of polital experts? He's entitled to his opinion, but it has equal value to my opinion.
Posted by: Frog | May 18, 2010 at 06:04 AM
UNBELIEVABLE!!! What a moron Woody Allen is.

Just when your convinced Biden is the bumbest Politician out there, another Obummer supporter comes along....
Posted by: Duende | May 18, 2010 at 06:05 AM
And the True Progressive Agenda is now fully exposed, by a pedophile incestuous douche.
This is the America that Obama and the Progressive Cabal want for us all, Dictatorship.
Posted by: Matt | May 18, 2010 at 06:06 AM
I predict we are going to hear this being said often.....be prepared.
Posted by: OG2 | May 18, 2010 at 06:07 AM
Right, and this is the same Woody Allen that wants everybody to give Roman Polanski a "get out of jail free" card. Sorry, Woody. You were funny, briefly, about thirty years ago. Now you are just a tiresome old man, like so many of your colleagues in Hollywood.
Posted by: plaasjaapie | May 18, 2010 at 06:07 AM
Once again Ron White is right . . . You can't fix stupid.
Posted by: Gerald Jacobs | May 18, 2010 at 06:08 AM
I'm sorry Woody but he can't have that kind of power found from his birthplace. In America we follow the constitution. If Obama can't get things done it's not because of the Republicans. The Democrats control both houses. It's his radical agenda that even some Democrats cannot support.

You know, if someone like Dennis Miller said this about Bush when he was president...

That was actually pretty funny. Cheers to the LA Times.

This man is a total jerk. This is they same guy that thinks the preditor Polansky hiding in Europe should be let go. I hope people finally wake up and see people like this for the small minds that they exhibit. It sure is funny those that have want to make sure that those that do not never get to he one that has. I think Allen should get out of everyones way and stop making stupid movies and statements.

He is a rich fool and a court jester of idiotic proportions. Just like most actors in Hollywood
America is on a downward spiral and if they are happy about it. It they are not stopped there will be serious problems across the country.
I'll let you determine who "they" are and what “serious problems" means. They are serious and very dangerous. Elections have consequences so get out and vote these bums out!
Posted by: Matt | May 18, 2010 at 06:16 AM
If Woody thinks Obama is "brilliant" while at the same time blaming Republicans for "getting in his way" (right now the Democrats have a super-majority, the Republicans do not have enough votes to stop ANYTHING), then Woody is as dumb as a box of rocks and his endorsement of Obama has about as much meaning. Woody will want the president to be a dictator only until he decrees things Woody doesn't like.
Posted by: Mach1fan | May 18, 2010 at 06:16 AM
what an idiot!!
Posted by: Chubs | May 18, 2010 at 06:16 AM
I believe you're taking things out of context. As horrible as Woody Allen may be the guy is making a satirical statement based on the same thing Bush was about during his two terms as president. Bush did say "their should be limits to democracy" which is ammusing because it's always been in relation to the U.S versus the Chinese and why china has been able to leap incredibly forward into the 21st century. It's because of the dictatorship.
In anycase his statement is generally something anyone will take with a grain of salt.
I'm bored with these drudge headlines. I like it better when his links are about alternatives to Obama and in the last year he's been limited to the influence of Sarah Palin and her well calculated and respectable aspirations for media personality.
Peace out

For some reason I'm not surprised. It's like these people don't have a clue as to what's going on or how things work. He can pretty much do what he wants to now Woody and he still hasn't fixed a damn thing.
Posted by: Eroe | May 18, 2010 at 06:16 AM
omg....?
Posted by: tulsa | May 18, 2010 at 06:16 AM
Woody Allen, Roman Polanski both off the radar narcissists and both are deviant cradle robbers. It won't be long and we'll hear more of Hollywood a al Sean Penn, Whoopie Goldberg, Susan Sarandon, defending Woody's comments. Hollywood is truly sick.
Posted by: GFFM | May 18, 2010 at 06:16 AM
Woody, I'm sorry to tell you this, but that's fortunately not the way it works in this nation. But if you are so fond of that form of government, I'm sure you would be more than welcome in another country like, say Venezuela. You could be Chavez's pet talking monkey. There are other places as well. If you don't care for South America.

Sieg Heil, Obama! Hey Woody, you useful idiot, you should watch out, Obama is anti-Israel and anti-Jewish.
Posted by: Garu | May 18, 2010 at 06:17 AM
Why is it that the rich elite types believe that socialism and totalitarianism and dictatorialism is the answer to all of America's woes? I presume it is because they, being rich, assume they get to be in power over all us peasants if that time actually comes. Crawl back under your rock Woody!
Posted by: Stephen | May 18, 2010 at 06:17 AM
I like Woody's films....but famous directors and actors have scary views on government and world politics.
Posted by: Andrew | May 18, 2010 at 06:18 AM
Are we really listening to this pedophile? How low can the news media get!
Posted by: Joe | May 18, 2010 at 06:19 AM
Woodie, Woodie, Woodie,
.
Shut up.
.
Taking advice from pedophiles isn't prudent to Republicans or Socialists. Crawl back under your rock. We want to remember as you were way back when you used to make funny movies.
Posted by: Charlie Chaplin | May 18, 2010 at 06:21 AM
Wow. So not only is Woody a pedophile, but he's also a certified whack-job too.
It's amazing what some people will see as "reasonable" use of power when THEIR favorite ideologue is in office.
Fortunately, Woody Allen is irrelevant and can be easily ignored.
Posted by: Tim Baker | May 18, 2010 at 06:22 AM
I knew it! The liberal elite are planning to do away with democracy! Woody is just saying it like it is from the beautiful people's viewpoint.
I never, never would say that giving the President dictator status would be a good thing! Get a grip Woody, do you realize what you are saying?? Hey how is everything over in socialist europe, no problems there?
Posted by: Mike | May 18, 2010 at 06:22 AM
Woody is out of touch. Obama already has dictatorial powers. The Main Stream Media, the Democrat majorities, and of course his buddies at Goldman Sachs, et al have made him dictator, and the ACORN census will "re-elect" him in 2012.
Posted by: RPhillips111 | May 18, 2010 at 06:22 AM
How did this article get into the Times? Did some right-wing whacko sneak in during the night and slip it by the guards? Woody, Woody, we hardly knew ye.

Allen represents leftist hollywood quite well. They romanticize dictatorships. Mao, Stalin, Castro, Hitler, Pol Pot, and Chavez, are but a few of the great leftist dictators in recent memory. In a 0bama dictatorship, Allen, Penn, and Glover, would enjoy rounding 'non-believers' up for mass executions.

"This Lecherous dwarf" (this is how Bertam Fields called him in the Court a few years ago during a "my manager-stole-me-my-money" thin in Los Angeles), is a perfect illustration of Hollywood stars' imbecility and incompetence -
Posted by: alceste | May 18, 2010 at 06:24 AM
This is a joke right? It really is... Woody Allen is a funny man... I know this has got to be a joke.. I just know it... However, it is NOT FUNNY AT ALL!!

This weasel is a has been who now confirms he is in addition to being a pervert he must be in the early stages of dementia. Hey you creep I really do not thank people care what you think. Do everyone a favor SHUT UP!!!

This is why no one in mainstream America trusts Hollywood and the art elitists of NYC. Yeah...life is comfortable for the rich, elite apologists. If they were so concerned about the rest of the country, they should voluntarily reduce their earnings, reduce ticket prices so we can all see the movies we deserve. Or, give half their earnings to the bums on the streets in Hollywood....or the streets of LA and San Fran.
Posted by: Fred Flintstone | May 18, 2010 at 06:25 AM
Hey, Woody? Remember when you were relevant?
no? NEITHER DO I. I'M NOT OLD ENOUGH!!!
Go back to banging your daughter and leave running the country to those of us that devote our energies to NOT being pedderasses.

Obviously some rare form of STD or dementia has addled poor Woody's brain. I think it's wonderful when "whack-jobs" like this speak out in favor of the Idiot-in-Chief. Keep talking Woody....you help make our point!
Posted by: Bill L. | May 18, 2010 at 06:25 AM
Well, there is no longer any reason to ever listen to or see anything by this idiot. Maybe he would like to go live in China or better yet, let's revive Stalinist Russia so he can have the dictatorial ruler that he wants. When you are being made fun of by even major newspapers, Mr Allen, you know that you've gone way too far left.
Posted by: goal setting | May 18, 2010 at 06:25 AM
This says everything about the way liberals see the world and their totalitarian approach to control everyone and everything in it. These are very, very scary people. All of them.
Posted by: John A. Jauregui | May 18, 2010 at 06:26 AM
Well, that's why Hollywood is a make-believe world. Reality doesn't exist for these people. Whew!! Who takes these clowns seriously?!
Posted by: Keith Gardner | May 18, 2010 at 06:26 AM
This from a pedophile....it's so intellectual, so elitist, so Hollywood and so typical. Thank God the majority of America is waking up to the realization of radical, dysfunctional idiots like Allen.
