Do you recognize this friend of many politicians?

Sure does look familiar, doesn't he?


He should look familiar. Americans spent an awful lot of hours with him, minus much of the hair.

Well, this is one of a number of military photos unearthed by the Smoking Gun, which likes to play games with pictures.

This one is from records in the National Archives belonging to a number of celebrities, largely from their pre-celebrity days. In this case from 1943, long before this former Naval Reservist chatted up so many politicians and other celebrities.

Do you recognize this man? No, it's not Paul Newman, though he's in the photo gallery too.
