Red flag for a sinking Obama: Americans now prefer Hillary Clinton

It is, of course, a really silly thing to even think about, given the clout of the Chicago Machine boys currently occupying the White House.

But, just say, the Real Great Talker continues his spiraling descent in the polls over the next 12-18 months; already the Democrat is barely tied with Any Republican in opinion polls looking toward 2012.

Even worse, a majority of Americans have already decided they don't want Obama to have a second term.

And just say under Obama's leadership and insistence on his unpopular healthcare bill over jobs, all the spending and exploding deficits, plus the certainty of new taxes to cover his costs, the Democrats in Congress get thoroughly thrashed by the GOP come November. Maybe they even lose control of both houses.

This week a new poll showed Americans now preferring the GOP on a generic congressional ballot. And despite eagerly optimistic recent administration economic claims, the unemployment rate is likely to hang high, and now comes a new ABC News Poll finding national consumer confidence actually waning, not building.

Do you think then maybe by a year from now some Democratic Party bigwigs and money people might be whispering to each other that this arrogant Illinois guy is pulling a Jimmy Carter, constructing a disastrous....

...single term that teed up 12 straight years of Republican White House rule?

Well, it turns out, there is another Democrat -- another former senator, in fact -- hanging around now free of political tussles with an enhanced resume burnished on the world stage, thanks to Obama himself.

And a new CNN/Opinion Research Poll has just revealed that even today Americans like that other Democrat more and dislike that other Democrat less than they do the incumbent Democratic president.

That other Democrat is, of course, Hillary Clinton, who fought and scratched her way mightily but unsuccessfully through those bitter, belligerent Democratic primaries and caucuses of 2008. The former first lady and current secretary of State professes no intra-mural interest in challenging her White House boss, as she must as long as she's an administration team member.

The published CNN article focused on an Obama matchup with Sarah Palin. But within the data were Favorable/Unfavorable ratings for numerous prominent politicians of both parties. Here are the surprising new poll numbers for Clinton:

61% now think favorably of the former senator and only 35% unfavorably, both numbers improved from the 56% and 40% she had during the Democratic National Convention in late August of 2008.

An early 2012 political button

It is, on one level, an impressive turnaround for the once polarizing political figure.

And on another level it's a comment on the polarity of the political climate presided over by someone who promised to bring people together and change Washington's harsh partisan tone, another postponed campaign vow like eliminating Guantanamo and "Don't Ask-Don't Tell."

By comparison, in the same CNN poll, 57% of Americans now think favorably of Obama, down from 78% just before his inauguration; and 41% now think unfavorably of him, more than twice his unfavorable rating of early 2009.

Clinton's numbers also beat all other both Democrats and Republicans in the new poll.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has 38-50 Favorable-Unfavorable; Sen. Harry Reid 28-35. The good news for Reid is that 20% of Americans have never heard of him; the bad news is Nevadans know him well and have him trailing any conceivable Republican candidate in this November's election.

Among Republican names, Mike Huckabee's favorable-unfavorable rating is 43-29; Mitt Romney 40-34; Newt Gingrich 38-38 (see his recent speech video here); and Sarah Palin 39-55, up from her other recent numbers. See Palin's recent speech video right here.

Loyal Ticket readers may remember this item of ours from last December when USA Today and Gallup found the two most admired females in America were Clinton and Palin -- and only 1% separated them.

Even more loyal Ticket readers will recall our item from nearly two years ago here revealing that the day after she surrendered to Obama upon losing the party primary race and said she heartily supported him, Clinton associates purchased a Web domain name: HRC2012.

Probably just an over-eager staffer, wouldn't you think?

If she even mentions the possibility, the real facts of the abortion issue will crush her. She is a mass murderer in the same light that Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot are mass murderers.

As matter of fact, my younger brother is dying of pancreatic cancer resulting from childhood alcoholism made possible because the bitch sabotaged my life and the life of my family.....What accomplishments. I am 10 thousand times smarter than the lot and will pick apart any justification and reveal how it is rooted in nasty vanity.
Bill Clinton's Bastard

I don't see a single pro-Obama comment on here.

Obama takes on the tough issues such as health care reform, an incredibly corrupt financial system that steals from regular citizens, pursuing the Taliban and controlling loose nukes.

He has done more in his first few months of office than George W. Bush did in 8 years.

It is incredibly disappointing to read these Anti-Obama comments. Obama had the courage to make a great woman part of his cabinet. I supported Hillary over Obama....but Obama has won me over by his actions.

The majority of these comments are based on Obama's negative opinion polls. These are fair-weather comments and unwarranted.

He and Hillary are doing great things for this country!

Abortion is nothing more than a device to victimize women and use that victimization for voter recruitment....She knew....She knew in 1980...instead of being a leader...she decided to cheat ....HER NARRATIVE of hardship that you are and have been promulgating is BS...where is the INTEGRITY...THE QUEST FOR TRUTH>>>THAT DOES GET YOU TO THE WHITE HOUSE AND FANCY GLOBAL DINNERS...

GREAT article! I only hope and pray to God, that BO hasn't screwed things up so badly for the Dems, that Hillary will not be able to run again. All I can say to those that voted for this Administration, is that chickens have come home to roost! But who would have thought that it would have been so quickly!?! The voter remorse on FB alone, is ASTOUNDING!

Does it even matter anymore??? There are differences among Obama, Hillary and George W. Bush, but the differences are superficial. Have you noticed how Obama has continued W's policies (no regulation of bankers, expansion of war, rich getting richer, middle class being ground into the dust)? It would be no different with Hillary at the helm. All recent presidents have been puppets of a shadow government that vets all serious candidates for president. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

And what exactly has Hillary done? And what it is it about her champagne socialist ideology appeals to these Americans as opposed the any number of statists in government?

I guess it's true...You just can't fix stupid.

Obama was a huge mistake.

Look at commenters like Harry, George, Eric, et. al. -- look at them howl!

Harry: "You have zero credibility, Malcolm. Your rabid anti-Obama bile has been evident from the beginning, bordering on bigotry..."

George: "nothing but dribble..."

Eric basically says it's all a conspiracy to create a "schism," complains of media bias, everything is all Bush's fault (apparently this is eternal doctrine to some liberals), Carter was a victim of circumstances (he actually pins Carter's failings on Nixon and REAGAN! -- being "wedged" between too much conservatism!) , Republicans bad bad bad.

Geez, how DARE anybody have the temerity NOT to gush and fawn over their false idol!

There's a new brand of wacko pathology -- it has edged out BDS as a remarkable phenomenon -- and it's Obama-zombie Syndrome.

See the Obama-zombies seeth at the LA Times blogger -- it's all bias from the right-wing LA Times!

Who you want to fool? Show me a honorable poll that would show that Hillary is preferred to Obama, please, do. Ha! You can't. Hillary is an Israel shill and all the country see it; she sold her soul to Israel; but from there to the point where you want to bend the light, c'mon!... If Hillary would have been in the seat, we would have lost GM and Chrysler, be bombing Iran, starting WWIII and with $20 gallon of gas. Is that what you want for the country? I don't think so. Let me put it in other way: all the snobs that are blogging here, simply echo and copy; they just want to vent; they're terrorized, afraid of being 9/11-ed again--and they cannot even see it; all for what? Because we support Israel. Notice to bloggers: watch out what you aks for: Conservatives would get us down, veeeery down, under China, Russia, even India, just for the whim of it; look at Bush, no further. Conservatives are imbecile racists; they foulmouth Obama because they cannot do anything good, not even articulate their racism, that's the only flame inside them, believe me. To all the rest immature ones: T-H-I-N-K; You can do a lot better than pay attention and echo Limpbag, InsHannity and Gangrich; just think. Stop copying rabid peabrained losers and support your president, don't spit up--you're spitting your own.

My God finally the American voter is starting to WAKE-UP,this guy wants control of the U.S.with his sheep at his side.
He is the worst of the 2-evils.

I always preferred Hillary Clinton.

Glad to see others have finally seen the light.

I couldn't agree more with Jedimom. Hillary was clearly the best qualified candidate for President. She has the ability to get everyone to work together and is fiscally responsible. Her leadership would have brought this country together and focused on the real issues this country needs to address - jobs and economy.

Now voter's remorse is setting in .... luckily I voted for the Green Party.

I blame you Obama Zombies for this mess we're in! You know who you are!

Hillary is every bit as LIBERAL as Obama, McCain, Palin or Bush. None of these people are worthy to be anywhere near the oval office. I'll be looking hard for a PRO CONSTITUTION candidate with GOOD CHARACTER and unless Ron Paul runs, I'll likely be voting 3rd party. I'm DONE with voting for the LESSER of two EVILS, that method simply doesn't work. Both parties are corrupt and taking turns at bankrupting our country. We need MASSIVE SPENDING CUTS and a QUICK END to our unaffordable WARS. Our forefathers, the US CONSTITUTION, the BLOOD and SACRIFICE of our MANY VETERANS, the FUTURE of OUR CHILDREN and LIBERTY it's self, all hang in the balance.......

Obama has already done his damage. We elected an far left ideologue and the Democrats will long regret the day they chose Obama over HRC. Why would anyone think Obama would allow her to run? That train left the station summer 2008.

"... promised to bring people together and change Washington's harsh partisan tone, another postponed campaign vow like eliminating Guantanamo ..."

Obama hasn't just postponed his 'one America' promise. He hasn't just abandoned it. He has absolutely violated it. The Democrats 'special race victim' mantra and their scorched earth campaign to smear dissenting Americans in the Tea Party as racist Nazi white trash make Team Obama the most divisive administration in my lifetime --more divisive than W. Bush and, yes, Richard Nixon!

I just have to ask, after reading all of the anti-(unaffordable, unjust, unfounded, based on fear, etc...)war screeds posted here if many of you folks realize we have enemies in this world and that war has been part of the human condition since the dawn of civilization.

If we "stop" making war, do you folks think our enemies will also stop and love us? Are you capable of realizing the difference between good and evil, let alone realizing evil exists? Do you think our enemies are interested in living peacefully amongst a community of nations?

The feminization of this country continues, apparently, unabated.

Thank God your fathers and grandfathers were not such effete, feeling "men."

I'm as conservative as they get, and I'll admit BrockoSamaBama has done the impossible -- he has made Hillary look palatable by comparison.

Hillary Rodham Clinton has never done anything significant in her entire life and her inflated opinion of herself is downright laughable. If she had not chased and married Bill Clinton and hung on his coat tails she would never be a "carpetbagger" New York Senator from Arkansas, and for damn sure she would never have been an also ran failed contender for the Democrat Party 2008 Presidential candidate nomination. But now this inept failure is the Secretary of State and failing miserably again.

Hillary Rodham Clinton has never gotten one single job on her own anywhere in her life. And when she got them she botched every single one of them.

Professor Tommy "The Commie" Emerson, her mentor at Yale, got Hillary Rodham first job assigned to the CPUSA financed defense lawyer Charles Garry in the Black Panthers Bobby Seale murder trial. This was funded by the Communist Party USA.

When she applied for officer candidacy for the Department of the Navy JAG program after she graduated from Yale she was rejected by the Department of the Navy for as an "unfit as an officer candidate" because of her fellow traveler activities with CPUSA members and the radical SDS at Yale.

Professor Tommy "The Commie" Emerson also got her her law internship as the personal law clerk to Robert Truehaft, the head of the CA CPUSA and the Chief Counsel for the entire Communist Party USA. She not only worked for him but lived with Trueafts, both who were carding carrying CPUSA members.

Edward Kennedy's lawyer who was a friend and colleague of Robert Truehaft along with her Yale mentor Professor Emerson and they got her the job on the Watergate committee staff. She was outrightly fired by general counsel and chief of staff of the Watergate House Judiciary Committee, Jerry Zeifman, for lying, outrageous behavior (throwing tantrum tirades), unethical conduct, and serious Constitutional procedural violations. This is well documented!

Hillary Rodham failed her Washington DC Bar Exam at least once, so she got a job at the University of Arkansas not on her own, but through Bill Clinton who was already an instructor on the faculty at University of Arkansas. She apparently wrote her Arkansas Bar Exam on site at the University of Arkansas which was under some very suspicious conditions for monitoring and passed it – you may suspect that this was not completely on the up-and-up!

She only got her position at the Rose Law Firm as a political favor to Bill Clinton when he became Attorney General of Arkansas. And she was only made a partner in the Rose Law Firm as another political favor to Bill Clinton when he became the Governer of Arkansas. Her job there was funneling misappropriated monies through Edward Hubble for political purposes. She also deliberately had all the records of her activities at the Rose Law Firm burned when she was under investigation for Whitewater. This has been well documented.

Her political appointments to corporation board positions at Tysons Food, Wal Mart, and other organizations where she really did nothing but collect monies were always for political favors owed her husband, both when he was Governer, President, and later as an ex-President.

She doesn't even write her own books - and her editing according to her ghost writers is light skimming at best. She has ghost writers like Barbara Feinman, who wrote “It takes A Village” and she stiffs them by not paying them in full even when she gets multi-million dollar advances.

Oh yes, the debacle she ran for nationalizing healthcare in Bill Clinton's first term was not only a disaster, had she not been the first lady she would be in a federal penitentiary for the deliberate misappropriation of a massive amount of government funds she could not account for and has never been accounted for.

Her integrity is zero, as she lies constantly, like being born in 1947 and claiming she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary who climbed Everest in 1953 who was not knighted until 1955; and the Bosnia whopper lie that she was under sniper fire where a video shows otherwise , and the lie about the lady who died without health insurance etc.,.. stealing Whitehouse artifacts and getting caught, receiving illegal monies from the Chinese Red Army agent Johnny Cheung at the Whitehouse, $100,000 Cattle Futures, Whitewater, Travelgate, 900 FBI files illegally held by her staff at the Whitehouse, obstruction of justice in the Vince Foster suicide investigation, and perjury before a Federal Grand Jury on Whitewater and her Rose Law Firm activities, and, on, and on.

Apparently, she is also into the occult. Hillary Rodham Clinton used New Age psychic Jean Houston, co-director of the Foundation for Mind Research, held séances at the Whitehouse to “channel” with the spirit of Eleanor Roosevelt. In her own words, Mrs. Clinton states she had talks with Eleanor Roosevelt, Mohandas Gandhi, and Jesus Christ according to Carl Bernstein.

I will not vote for Hillay Clinton...for 2012. She could not stand on her own.. Hillary went along with the Popularity of Mr. Obama..Everyone that voted for Obama got back splashed...You didn't listen to Sean Hannity when he lay out the trues "facts" of Mr. Obama...I will vote for a Democrat if only I will see his record first..Let's vote Mr. Obama out of the White House..Impeach Him, if possible. I am proud of been an American. Stand for Liberty and Justice for all. And, One God the Creator of heavens and earth.. no matter what Science cannot duplicate the existence of natural creation of our Lord.. And Mr. Obama is not going to prevent me from speaking or praising my Lord, God Savior.. God Bless America mfs

Hillary would have done a better job for the party.I don't believe that she would have passed a healthcare plan in the manner that was done. She was more moderate and more to the center.Obama said he wants to transform America. When he passess the cap and trade and value added tax we will be just like Greece and the rest of Europe as they have all these things. That was his plan in the first place.Isn't hope and change (chains) wonderful?

If I had to have a Democrat as President, I would rather have Hillary as President. If I had to have someone as President, I would rather have most any Republican over any Democrat. The direction this country is attempting to go in under Obama, Pelosi and Ried right now simply scares the daylights out of me. (I am being polite) They have become as welcome to most Americans as a pedaphile is to a childs parents.

Comrades, don't be fearful. There is plenty of farm work available for everyone. Lots of dirt available for food. What? You won't pick the potatoes???

Obama is the biggest mistake we have made. Hopefully 2012 will solve it.

Obama wants to spread the wealth and by doing that the people who are getting a free ride will never have any incentive to get ahead in this world. And, speaking of the world, what's this latest he said about us being equal in the world like we don't WANT to be number one anymore? The man simply isn't ready to be in control of our country.

I won't even waste space refuting the "let's just say" speculation and absurd poll results about Obama's chance in 2012 at this point of his presidency.
He WILL get a second term, because Republicans have nothing!!!
As for Hillary Clinton, her still bitter supporters and other sore
losers need to seek get grief counseling and move on.
Clinton ran a lousy campaign, which was a scary precursor
of how she'd govern.Independents and moderates of both parties loathed her.Youth wanted someone new,not the beginnings of a political dynasty.

She alienated black Americans and liberals in the base with her and Bill's attacks against Obama. He remained civil, disciplined and on message, even when fighting the Clinton machine AND right wing smears.I certainly couldn't have stayed cool about the absurdity of Clinton's futile efforts to count the Michigan and Florida contests toward her delegate count.
The GOP were salivating to have HER as the nominee, because they relished the idea of tarring, feathering and driving a stake through her one more time in the general election .She would have had NO CHANCE against any white Republican male in 2008.
The GOP was caught flat footed when Obama won the nomination, because, beyond their smears ,they had no substantive strategy against him. All they had was bitter working class whites, and racist right wingnuts in their corner.
Clinton is our Secretary of State, and a very good one.As a strong Obama supporter,I was non plussed at Obama's choice to put her in his cabinet. But it turned out to be one of his MANY good decisions as President. And it kept her out of the running to oppose him in 2012.

To quote from the first sentence ,the whole premise of this article is "a really silly thing to even think about ."

I am an independent conservative who would never support Hillary Clinton. I have more of a libertarian mindset. But one thing I can say, I would rather have have her than Obama any day. At least she cares what the will of the people is and understands our role as a superpower. I believe she would not "bow" down to any other country. I really go back and forth with my opinion of Obama, sometimes I think, "this guy is an absolute moron who can't see what he's doing to this country" and then I think, "this guy is as sly as a fox and he knows well what he's doing to the country". I really hope it's the former as opposed to the latter, but either way this guy goes down in history as the worst American president ever. 5 years ago, I would have bet $10,000 without blinking an eye that I would never say what I'm about to say but I wish Hillary was in the presidency instead of the current dictator.

How could a President be so bad that I would actually prefer Hillary Clinton to them? We now have an answer.

who made that stupid assumtion about everyone wants hillary, I sure as hell don't. She comes off as arrogant, self righteous.......she may have some politaical savvy, but no people skills if you listen to how she talks down to people, like she was a self proclaimed godess. She more scripted than she is personable!!!!!!!!!!

What about Bill Clinton? I didn't care much for him when he was pres, but I'd prefer him to what we got now. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I miss him.

Get a clue everyone.

The clnton machine elevated obama to begin with so they could trot out someone who was so terribly to the left that they would make hillary look like a middle of the roader.

They did not bargain with a groundswell that knocked hillary out of the primary by a few delegates.

So here we are with hillary cooling her jets at State Dept with a handfull of aces and making all the right moves for 2012.

We will see an amazing display of middle-of-the-road advertising for hillary. and we will hear how hillarycare would have been SOOOO much better than the obamination of obamacare, so why don't you vote for me. . . yadda yadda yadda . . .

"Hillary Clinton fought and SCRATCHED her way . . . . "?? Don't forget that CNN did as much as any Lame Stream Media to discredit and disparage Hillary in a clearly sexist way, and your choice of words to describe her campaign gives you away even when you are reporting on her in a mostly constructive manner.

Obama raised almost $750 million in the last election cycle. If he decides to serve another term, he'll raise a billion at a minimum. The GOP is dousing for water in Death Valley at this point. They welcome every encouraging poll as another cloud on the horizon.

Oh wait -- I guess it's the LA Times using sexist language. My mistake.

I'm sue most true Americans would now prefer Daffy Duck to Obumer.

This is absolutely no surprise. I am one of those ugly Republican Conservatives that believe a Hillary run in 2012 is very plausible. First, I don't think Obama is all that warm and fuzzy over Clinton. The first six months of his tenure she was treated like a third stringer being sent to places that were low on the foreign affairs priority list. This has been upgraded, but only after the media started spot lighting the slight. Secondly, I highly suspect they have some pretty different perspectives on nearly everything, particularly the foreign affairs agenda. Thirdly, Obama penchant for often behaving arrogant and sophomoric is not exactly the way Clinton behaves, at least not publicly. And this piece is right on target whether you agree with Obama or not, blame him or not, he is presiding over some very devisive issues (you can even blame it on Bush if you like, doesn't matter). People have grown increasingly tired of the blame Bush mentality. Obama hurts himself by doing that and not stepping up and taking charge. Even if it's true, that gets old quickly. I can't remember any president behaving that way so long, so often. So if things don't improve for the President, expect Clinton to start distancing herself, eventually resigning, and then running. She's highly electable, and would save the Democrats the presidency. If things do change and Obama can lose some of the "my way or the highway" change mentality, he will eventually gain back favor and win in re-election. Three years is ten life times in politics, so it is way, way too early to count him out. And I would never ever count a Clinton out - they are, if nothing else, savvy politicians.

I used to hate Hillary but now I have greater respect on her. The liberal media had done a great disservice to this country by not being fair to her. The New York times CBS MSNBC CNN had made up their mind to nominate Barack Hussain Obama . His persona was created but not vetted unlike Hillary Clinton. Let's face it nobody know the real Obama . For one thing I keep hearing that he is a Harvard Graduate but can any media tell me how he perform academically. since he has no real executive job experience ( knowing that his job experience is only a Professor and a community organizer) how come nobody from the media had help. The liberal media is party to blame. they dumb down American readers and now they are paying the consequence of Obama's failed policy. It looks like we pick not just a lemon but a rotten lemon.Sure can't wait for next election. Time for true change.

Jedimom is right. Eric is wrong. Hillary was the right choice, and not because she was a woman or Bill's spouse. She is a smart and balanced woman, and as she showed in the Senate, a good leasder.

This administration has driven me right into the soothing soundwaves of ...RUSH !

This sucks: first healthcare fiasco that benefits big pharm, and big insurance, and then the dismantling of NASA. Now he's going to bludgeon high finance 'till they leave NYC. He's taken student loans, autos, banks. aaaaaahhhhh it's the OBAMA-HOLE

I don't care what people say about Hillary or Obama, but in my personal opinion (and I did say MY personal opinion) I regret someone like Obama is in office. He is inexperienced and has to many secrets. Things with him just don't add up, but that's alright the one's who put him in office will see in the end when all this insanity unravels. I'm not talking about politics I'm talking about mortality and dignity and honesty something he knows nothing about. I know everyone in politics is going to be misleading to a certain extent, but come on people open your eyes look what's in front of you. Where did Obama really come from, and why is he really here? Do you honestly think it's for the good of our country. He has been making mistakes and telling lies since he's been in office, but one thing I can say IM SURE GLAD HE DIDNT HAVE MY VOTE!

The grass is always greener on the other side.

You got what you bargained for.

One term is enough for Obama's presidency, Hillary has great or definite chance to beat anybody in the 2012 presidential race . If she does not run now , she will miss the opportunity to be the first woman president of the U.SA.
I wish, hope and believe she would run now.We are eagerly waiting to hear she is in for the race 2012(Now, now ,now)

This is nothing more than a teabagger/dittohead's wet dream.
