Joe Biden update: Iraq one of Obama's 'great achievements'

Democrat Vice President Joe Biden with Larry King on CNN 2-10-10

Who knew?

Thank goodness, Vice President Joe Biden went on CNN to chat with Larry King Wednesday night. So many think things are not going so well for the Democrat administration, as The Ticket chronicled here.

Many Americans recall the ex-Sen. Biden's Democratic primary plans to give in to Iraq's fractious factions and carve the country into three territories. And even more probably recall Biden's boss' plan to halt the Iraq war years ago. As long as it got started anyway without the permission of the then state senator.

Plus, of course, the vehement opposition of the Nobel Prize winner to the 2007 American troop surge of you-know-who from Texas that Obama knew for certain was only going to worsen sectarian strife there. (See 2007 video here.)....

Well, of course, it didn't turn out that way, thanks in large measure to the brave service of hundreds of thousands of U.S. troops who served in that war-torn land and helped peace to break out despite the loud political acrimony back home over their role.

Now, the Obama-Biden pair that opposed the Iraq war and its tactics and predicted their failure is prepared to accept credit for its success.

It seems that Biden, who's from Delaware when he's in Delaware and Pennsylvania when in Pennsylvania, is certain now that Iraq will turn out to be one of the Obama-Biden administration's greatest achievements.

No, really.

Here's how Biden put it to Lar:

I am very optimistic about -- about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You're going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You're going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.

I spent -- I've been there 17 times now. I go about every two months -- three months. I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society. It's impressed me. I've been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences.

Biden did not elaborate on what all the administration's other "great achievements" were so far.

No doubt, Iraqis too are very thankful for that 2008 U.S. election. (Full King transcript here.)

I don't even recognize my country any more. We're living in some kind of otherworldly charade that mimics the old Soviet Union, which repeatedly rewrote history to blunt criticism of the regime. It's simply Orwellian.

How do you tell if Joe Biden is lying? His lips are moving...

Sooooo,Biden and Obama claim this as their accomplishment? How many little dumbocrats will we hear repeat this talking point in the near future? The absurdity of this group of little thugs never ceases to amaze!

Wait! It's Bush's fault!

You are kidding right? Against the surge, against further extensions of the troops, against them doing their jobs ~ and takes credit for it working?

Amateur hour at the peoples' house.

Yep....and Al Gore invented the internet.

The audacity of this dimwit of a vice president. How could the American voter been so stupid as to have put these two in office.? White guilt and the "equal opportunity" syndrome accounts for BO but falling for line of malarkey is beyond reason. Are my fellow citizens of Delaware so dense have kept this guy in office?

Biden is such a buffoon. Does anyone actually take him seriously? He makes Dan Quayle look like Einstein.

Obama is a waste of time. He is a gret speaker and great navigator of interviews. However, he has no accomplished anything and continues to blame the administration before him. Its his administration now. Take some accountability and get something done. Bill Cosby got in trouble because he told the African American community to take accountability for themselves and improve their quality of life. Maybe it is time for the president to get something done and stop blaiming his lack of achievement on others.

Biden is such a buffoon. Does anyone actually take him seriously? He makes Dan Quayle look like Einstein.

This was Bush's set up. Over with before Obama's hands hit the reins. Our concern is for our soldiers in Afganistan and what the Iran problem is shaping up to be.

This is the same Joe Biden, who in 1965 plagiarized while researching and writing a paper as a student at the Syracuse University Law School in a legal methods course. Yes, he got an "F" for the plagiarism.

The same Joe Biden the "honest" politician, who plagiarized a British politician, Neal Kinnock 's speech in 1988, forcing Biden to drop out of the Democrat presidential race.

Now, Cheater - Biden, and Commander in Thief - Obama want to claim the successes in Iraq. After they repeatedly fought against the Bush war initiatives. Give me a break.

We won't be fooled again!

Absolutely disgusting. And, who in the media will call them on this, present company excluded.

Where was Moe?

Of course Biden and Obama will take credit for the Bush administration's success in Iraq! They have so little of their own successful policies they need to steal a few from the other side. This administration is a joke! Super majority and they've done absolutely nothing. Pitiful...

Biden and Obama are both idiots. You should listen to what Milktoast Intolerant says about Obama in their song Sunday School. - Its PRICELESS!!!

Only in the world of Politics could this happen

There he goes again!

Biden's a fool and unfit for any high office much less this close to being president. He and Obama did all in their power to scuttle our efforts in Iraq and run away from our responsibilities there. God bless George W Bush. A man of vision, conviction, and principle. He had the guts to stand and deliver.

God save us from empty suits like Joe Biden and Barak Obama. What a pair of morons!

If Biden is trying to make America (in sync) laugh out loud, he has done a good job. This statement only serves to empahsize the overall lack of achievement by the president. Biden would do well to direct the credit to those who deserve it.

Larry gets so flustered when he greets Biden, who called him 'Buddy' again. You
would think that he 'd be asking Joe about Beau's retreat from running for his dad's seat....maybe Beau figures that it's not his dad's seat but the people's seat, looks like the dems will take second place in that race just like what's her
name Coakly in MA.

You can thank GWB for the success in Iraq. Libs are hilarious.

Joe would never let the facts get in the way of a good answer.

I knew it. Obama tried to obstruct the agreement that PRESIDENT BUSH signed with Iraq on this very withdrawl in 2008, and now he's claiming credit for it.

Iraq one of 0bama's greatest achievements?!?! lolololol

This proves that Biden is even dumber than 0bama...

Iraq one of 0bama's greatest achievements?!?! lolololol

This proves that Biden is even dumber than 0bama...

The surge, a more adept counter-insurgency strategy and the Status of Forces Agreement that set the terms for the American military withdrawal were all undertaken when Bush was President.

Obama and Biden opposed the surge. The Iraqis opposed Biden's proposal to carve up Iraq into three separate ethnic areas.

Obama wanted the American troops to come home earlier but then dropped the idea. The only accurate thing Biden says is that he has visited Iraq many times.

It would be helpful if Obama and/or Biden could say specifically and honestly just what this administration has actually done to produce a better outcome in Iraq.

Biden, as usal, is suffering from senile dementia and doesn't know what admin. he's talking about.

IT WAS THE BUSH ADMIN. that was successful in Iraq. GEEEz.

What a joke.

The obamantion has been a miserable failure - from going back on campaign promises, to skewing job numbers, to recreating history. This guy represents the fleecing of America - a con-man at the highest level who talks a good game, but fails to deliver.

Just proves what an idiot/liar the Biden/Obama team are.

If there is any success in Iraq the bulk of the credit should go to our military, Bush/Cheney and the people of Iraq. The best thing Pres. Obama has done is not mess up something that was beginning to work when he took over.

And the Democrats question Palins intelligence...!

LOL at "Plugs" Biden and Obama bin Stylin for being clueless on the real reason we are winning in Iraq. Obama should bow down to Bush/Cheney for this. LOL at the one term LIB clowns...

Our nations VP is the reason why you do not want anything to happen to Obama even if you do not agree with him. Because of what, or shall I say whom will be installed as the President. Mr. I think I can Biden. I just am so frightned of both of them, but of the two I really see not one bit of difference when it comes to who tells the biggest lies.

Larry D. Crumbley

Without a doubt, the worst, dumbest, duff of a vice president this country has EVER had! Please, bury him somewhere where he can't embarrass our country anymore.

Incompetent and insane - always a good combination

wow. wow. a do nothing president actually taking credit for someone elses work. no surprise to this american. sad.

It is difficult to know whether Obama and Biden are intellectual cretins or delusional. The diagnosis is not clear, but it is either delusion or an inability to think,

Too funny. And this guy is a heartbeat away from the presidency. Too sad.

Does a buffoon recognize buffoonery when it emanates from himself?

So, Biden actually believes he and Obama are the reason for the success in Iraq. Fine. Then I would like to know why he and Obama mislead the American people into believing that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Shoudn't they both be tried as war criminals? Obama lied, people died!

With all due respect, VP Biden is a cartoon. He's the Ted Baxter of this administration, Lenny to Obama's George. Obama's a joke and Biden's the punchline! And to think, we have three more years of these fools in the White House.

Puke !!!

Big Joe ---- What a politician --- lost in his own legendary status....Too bad he is more concerned about the 3 P's -----politics, propoganda and power, instead of American values and the American people. Gosh darn - and he got to shake Larry King's hand too....all in the same day. And to think he is number 2 in command.....

I feel sorry for the self agrandizing VP who seems to step "in it" every time he speaks ...And the poor fool seems to think the only way to clean it off is to put his foot in his mouth !! Did NO ONE in his home state ever listen to this blowhard itiot?? How, has he, stayed so long in office..He Now IS the POSTER CHILD for term limits !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, do they really think we are that dumb. I don't care that he said it, i am just insulted that he would think I would believe it for a second.

The only thing Biden is good for is making idiot comments. He's the Dan Quayle of this administration..

Evidence that Liberalism is a mental and moral disorder.

OMG. Is this man serious?

He's one of two things... 1) Incredibly ignorant, no... stupid or 2) A total liar.
Either way, he should not be in office.

He and Obama did everything they could to stop the surge that has made this a success. They did everything to criticize Bush and anything that was done in Iraq.

Now that they were proved 100% wrong, they want to take credit for it?

Wow... I only hope most Americans see these idiots for what they are, career politicians, career liars, and overall scumbags.
