Joe Biden update: Iraq one of Obama's 'great achievements'

Democrat Vice President Joe Biden with Larry King on CNN 2-10-10

Who knew?

Thank goodness, Vice President Joe Biden went on CNN to chat with Larry King Wednesday night. So many think things are not going so well for the Democrat administration, as The Ticket chronicled here.

Many Americans recall the ex-Sen. Biden's Democratic primary plans to give in to Iraq's fractious factions and carve the country into three territories. And even more probably recall Biden's boss' plan to halt the Iraq war years ago. As long as it got started anyway without the permission of the then state senator.

Plus, of course, the vehement opposition of the Nobel Prize winner to the 2007 American troop surge of you-know-who from Texas that Obama knew for certain was only going to worsen sectarian strife there. (See 2007 video here.)....

Well, of course, it didn't turn out that way, thanks in large measure to the brave service of hundreds of thousands of U.S. troops who served in that war-torn land and helped peace to break out despite the loud political acrimony back home over their role.

Now, the Obama-Biden pair that opposed the Iraq war and its tactics and predicted their failure is prepared to accept credit for its success.

It seems that Biden, who's from Delaware when he's in Delaware and Pennsylvania when in Pennsylvania, is certain now that Iraq will turn out to be one of the Obama-Biden administration's greatest achievements.

No, really.

Here's how Biden put it to Lar:

I am very optimistic about -- about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You're going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You're going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.

I spent -- I've been there 17 times now. I go about every two months -- three months. I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society. It's impressed me. I've been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences.

Biden did not elaborate on what all the administration's other "great achievements" were so far.

No doubt, Iraqis too are very thankful for that 2008 U.S. election. (Full King transcript here.)

I'm afraid that the "parting shot" of this opinion piece flew right over my head. Is the author so far out of it that he believes that if Iraqis "are thankful" of the results of the 2008 elections, then that is a bad thing? How else can the writer's use of this sentence be explained? It is sad that people with such a limited grasp on reality are given space in which to write things.

What? Iraq? I thought... I thought the war was lost? Where have I been? What the....!

Man, these guys have done so much in one year---- LOL

I don't understand your logic. The opposition of senator Obama to the surge in Iraq is automatically disqualifying him for assessing any progress in ended a war that should never exists in the first place.

Well, let's not be too hard on these tools....Obama has not yet got the idea that he must check first with Joe...afterall, he IS the one with the brain.
Joe, also, needs to check with Barry occasionally....to be sure HE has his story straight
Worry, America....no one is minding the store.

Well, you see a Democrat claims credit for anything successful, even if all the work was done in a past administration.

They only assign BLAME to a past administration! And the way things look right now, that past administration could have been years ago!

What I like, are all the BOMBINGS that have been going on over there, lately.
Has ANYONE heard one word about Iraq from these two idiots? No. Obama's too busy LYING THROUGH HIS TEETH, and using STIMULUS MONEY to prop up his UNION BUDDIES, while Joe Biden is off somewhere all day, trying to see how many Ring Dings he can fit in his mouth.
This Administration is a DISASTER.
Bye the way, LAT, where's that VIDEO of the COMMUNITY ORGANIZER at the GOING AWAY PARTY for the P.L.O. TERRORIST, and Obama buddy, KHALEED RASHIDI? I thought that THE PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW?
What a RAG.

I am shocked and pleased to see this kind of accountability reporting! For some reason Biden has been allowed to get away with this kind of political maneuver for his entire career. Perhaps in this blog Biden has experienced 2-3% of the sceptical review that Palin gets on a daily basis.

LOL

biden is a complete idiot !!

These people are nuts, I can't wait until they are kicked out of office...

After trying for years to achieve defeat in Iraq VP Biden now wants to take credit for Presidents Bush sucess, This man is delusional.

WOW, blame the Bush administration for all your problems, but take credit for the Bush accomplishments too! Obama would be better to put Biden in the Presidential Bunker and not let him out until he losses in 2012.

wow, how many of the media are going to get rolled into this line of illogical reasoning?

Someone tell Chris Matthews that the warm thrill going up his leg is obama peeing on his leg and telling him its raining.... are you falling for obama biden's cons still, fellow americans?

Stay tuned for another year of Hoax and Chains.

Biden and Obama will take credit that the Sun came up this morning. What a sick arrogant bunch at the white house.

I am ashamed to be an American with these clowns in charge.

Biden is a jackass and so is Obama!!!!

Are you kidding me. These two bone heads were against the surge back in 07' which was the cause of this great "achievement". As much as people hated Bush, he made the right decision in regards to Iraq. For this administration to claim it's their victory is a joke. If they can do that, then they can claim the state of this economy. And for you people who keep blaming Bush,I'm not a big fan, the Dems took control of Congress back on 06', and I think before then the economy was doing pretty well.
It was then, when the Dems took control of the House and Senate, when the economy went into the toilet.

Joe Biden should get the Nobel Peace prize. He is a genius!
More self-deception for the Democrats. They will be gone soon and adults will run the world again.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I love Biden. He's Obama's comic relief. You never hear anything out of that guy, and when you do its awsome!

Geezzz, this guy is pathetic. He is barely a reflection of a politician.....

Laughable...lol

Unbelievable - Biden must be on crack - after they opposed everything Bush wanted to do in Iraq - oppose the war, opposed the surg. Obama now wants to take credit for the victory? Unbelievable .... no media to call them on this so this goes unchecked excpet by the masses in the fly over country who are going to be the ones to run these clowns out of town.

OK, I get it:

Al Gore ----- Internet
Barrack Obama ----- Success in Iraq

I love the Democrat's logic!

Joe Biden, "You lie !!!" Even the withdrawl of combat troops this summer was scheduled by the previous administration. This VP is a joke!

Next they'll be taking credit for the fall of the Berlin Wall. They're delusional.

It's Bush's fault. Wait..it's the Bamster's crowning achievement...no, it's Bush's fault. Poor Biden. Those brain cells that aren't already dead are walking with a limp.

Joe Joe Joe! When the aliens grabbed you for your annual probe they set you back down in the wrong world. This is PLANET EARTH! This is AMERICA where we are still capable of discerning blatant BS from the truth before our eyes. You BLAME BUSH when convenient and then USE BUSH for cover when you need it and now you are taking credit for BUSH's SUCCESS. Remember the SURGE Joe??? The one you Democrats railed against...you know..the one that WORKED? Now move along and go help POTUS work on his salute and play with his toy rifle.

Oh, Joe!!! You live in a fantasy world! You blame the guy from Texas AND take credit or his successes! Sounds like envy!

While I'm no Bush sycophant (bring back Reagan from the dead PLEASE), having served in Irqaq myself I can attest that if there is/are ANY success(es) it is due to the previous administration. This one (obama), at best sat back and watched a plan unfold already in the making... Biden has no class and no integrity.

Wait! It wasn't Gore who invented the internet it was Obama/Biden. They blame their failures on Bush and take credit from Bush. Sounds like what they want to do to the economy, redistribute.

Har Har De Hardy Har Har! What a joke coming from the dumbest man ever to be elected VP. His boss is the most inept and foolish president EVER. For them to take some credit for Iraq from W and the finest fighting force of brave men and women the world has ever witnessed is astonishing. I think these two morons minds have been attacked by some kind of brain sucker. This administration continues to insult the intelligence of the voting public; however, it is quickly nearing time for Dimocrap and corruptocrap departure. Pack yo bags. Yo time is up.

Maybe Joe's right, cause I can't think of any achievements...let alone "great" that Obama's made as yet.

OMG!!!!!!!!

These guys are unbelievable.

Biden takes credit for implementing the Bush administration exit strategy on Iraq after denouncing and opposing the Bush surge strategy.

Obamz takes credit for the success of the Bush TARP bailout.

Meanwhile even though 70% of Americans want terrorists like KSM and the Christmas bomber tried by military commission Obama/Biden oppose the public will. Why?

Because just like their opposition to the surge in 2006 these guys also opposed and voted against the MIlitary Commission Act.

Instead they prefer outsourcing American intelligenc gathering to the parents of a captured terrorist.

This guy is really worse than Dan the Potato Head Quayle. Everything they continue to do wrong is the previous administrations fault, but something like this is all their doing. When is THIS administration going to wake up and realize the majority of us are smarter than a 5th grader and we put you in office to fix things, not the same old song and dance. We have a government who is scamming us, and advertisements on web sites that are following their lead by unscrupulous businesses.
I don’t want to live in a country on par with the rest of the world. I want to live in the best country in the world; One that my ancestry had built and fought for, One that I was even proud to be poor knowing I had the opportunity to achieve my goals, and my future was not dictated by any government – My future was dictated by me.
I want my country back Mr. Biden. People are driven by fear and hate no matter how much they want world peace. You always have to fear and hate someone, and you always have to have that fight or flight feeling – because someone will always fear and hate you if you have something they can’t have. Let’s go back to fearing Countries and people who hate us and use that fear and hate to build a better America instead of using it all against ourselves.
Let’s quit blaming everyone else for our own issues. If you want to be in power, then you take that power and look forward, not backwards by blaming someone else for your own failures. Maybe spend a little more time at home Mr. Biden and let our fine Military handle Iraq while she comes into her own. No other country in history has been able to stabilize in a few short years, it is not something you can order at the drive through at Mc Donald’s .

You have got to be kidding me. What a joke. The Bush administration for all its faults is the sole reason for a free and stabilized Iraq. In the end it was their tactics however mishandled some of it may have been that achieved the results. I knew at some point Obama would try and steal credit. Pathetic.

We do not need Washington.

It is a disease that needs you to keep feeding it.

Starve it to it croaks!

It is suppose to be the United States of America, not the federal republic of Washington, DC.

Remove both parties from power.

No to progressives, no to socialism, no to demoncrats, not to the state run media and hell no to RINO's.

Biden is living down to my expectations. He is now, and has always been, an utter and complete political hack. He's been lying to himself and everyone else so long he is actually incapable of telling the truth. He's the perfect running mate for the arrogant, self-absorbed, and incompetent Obama.

WHAT??????
You mean it's NOT Bush's Fault?

DAGGGGGG!!!!!

You have got to be kidding me. What chutzpa. Oh that's right his boss wrote Audacity of Hope. What a bunch of pathetic liars. Goes along with the Pres. saying they are going to create 95,000 jobs a month.

This article speaks to just how blatantly desperate this Administration really is.

the more "they" talk the worse it gets,,especially Biden. He's the right's "bestest" friend. Please keep him talking..lol

Biden is an idiot.

I guess he never heard of the old saying... : it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Is here know way to get this buffoon to stop saying stupid things. Can,t he remmember that a year ago both him and Obama wanted to run away in Iraq.

It's Bush's fault!

So Obama takes the credit for anything good, but anything bad is Bush's fault. I do remember the surge happening on Bush's watch and all the democrats howling how it wouldn't work and that we had lost the war including Obama, but now we are to believe that Obama's policys have saved the day and won the war. Does this mean he is now a war president? If things start falling appart in Iraq are they now Obama's responsabilities? Is it any wonder that the American people have lost faith in such a shifty and deceitful administration?

War criminal.

I am without words. This is just UN-BE-LIEVABLE! Man, folks we just have to face that Joey B. is laugh-out-loud hilarious. I will laugh about this for the rest of the day. Thank you, L.A. Times, for the free mirth.

Biden = O = Idiots

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

He said WHAT?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Biden once again caught in a lie.

I...I...what can I say? Is there a camera filming me reacting to this story? Is this Candid Camera?

I mean, we have heard so much about how the problems in our economy were inherited from the previous administration. I think we hear it at every speaking opportunity that the current administration has. And now, we finally have the current administration taking 'the heat', the credit for something, and it's the situation in Iraq? 1 year isn't near enough time for the current administration to turn the inherited economy around...don't put unrealistic expectations on President Obama...but 1 year is enough time for the current administration to take Iraq from COMPLETE disaster to Eden?

I am amazed...sadly amazed at this. It appears to be an astounding amount of stupidity, or denial, or inability to grasp reality...or just out right lying. Either one is sad and scary.
