Obama's week -- from Nobel Peace Prize to Lady Gaga
Whether you like his policies or not, you have to admit that President Obama — or his writers — can dash off some snappy lines.
Shortly after he took the stage tonight to address a fundraising dinner of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay rights organization, Obama gave the crowd a serious look.
“It’s a privilege,” he said, “to open tonight for Lady Gaga. I’ve made it.”
Lady Gaga, for those not in the know, is a pop singer who was performing at tonight’s dinner in Washington. (Her real name is the mellifluous Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta.) She has a large gay following, and the line got a huge laugh and lots of applause.
Wisecracking aside, the president strongly reiterated his intention to scrap the "don’t ask, don’t tell" rule and pledged to work on several fronts to advance gay rights.
The Ticket will post the text of the president’s remarks when it becomes available.

Unfortunately, there is little beyond the snappy lines. Having had personal experience with the social activism tactics of Saul Alinsky, the hair on the back of my neck stands right up, every time Barack H. Obama speaks. I just have one question to the Peace Prize issue: "What did he DO to deserve it? George Will recently put it most succinctly:
And someone PLEASE tell me what he DID to earn a peace prize! Nobody is listening to him except Michelle and the girls. George will put it very succinctly:
*He has asked Israel stop expanding the settlements… they didn’t.
*He asked the Palestinians to engage the Israelis… they didn’t.
*He suggested to Saudi Arabia some gesture towards Israel… they didn’t.
*He said to Iran do this that and the other thing… they haven’t.
*He said to Honduras please restore your president… they didn’t.
*He said to India and China please restrain your greenhouse gasses… they won’t.
*He asked NATO to please take some of our Gitmo terrorists… they won’t.
*He asked NATO to please send more troops to Afghanistan… they won’t.
*******
Now, every time I hear Barack Obama speak, I am remindded of Sandra Bullock's famous line, "World Peace!"

If you stop and think about it President Obama spends most of his time promising thing to everybody. He is a professional con-man. He can't be trusted. Gays, remember talk is cheap.

"Lady" Gaga should have won the award.
