Quote of the Day: Mike Pence on government healthcare

Indiana Republican representative Mike Pence

Republican Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana was on CNN's "State of the Union" today, talking with John King about Pres A duckident Obama's demand that healthcare reform include the government as a provider to keep private insurance companies honest in the insurance marketplace.

Pence, who also gave this week's weekly GOP remarks here, fears instead the government option would drive many employers and insurance companies to simply opt out and leave the whole costly business to government.

The Indiana congressman replied:

"The government competes in the private sector the way an alligator competes with a duck."

Pence is right! Because even if the alligator didn't have any teeth, the government would pay for its dentures.

Pence seems to live in a different reality than the rest of us. He visited Iraq during the height of the insurgency and said Baghdad was like any open-air market in Indiana. I'll bet Andrew Malcolm thought that was funny, too.

How come the term "OPT OUT" is freely used to describe what businesses may or may not do when it comes to health insurance options, but NOBODY mentions OPT OUT when it comes to a consumers right to OPT OUT when a bank or credit card company changes terms on an existing agreement.

OPTING OUT was NOT part of the recent credit card reform bill, making the bill a shell of what it could have and s should have been.

Obama is ruining our economy and our country!!!!
Big govt. socialism does not work ask the Soviets!

I heard a funnier one, I just couldn't remember which congressman said it. He said that the government in Health Care is like an elephant battling mice in a room.

You missed Pence's next line, which is the point. "It consumes it."
