Even more gray hair as Anderson Cooper's ratings fade at CNN

May 11, 2009 |  8:25 pm

CNN's Anderson Cooper

Word tonight from our new colleagues over at the Company Town blog that Anderson Cooper, who CNN has tried to make the face of that cable news network, would be getting more gray hairs if he could:

The amiable star is about to be passed in the late evening cable ratings by Keith "Worst Shouter on Cable News" Olbermann taped reruns.

MSNBC's Keith Olbermann

Ouch!

Maybe the Obama White House's recent expressed preference for MSNBC, reported here in The Ticket, is helping out the NBC outlet.

We reported last week here on David Gregory's ratings trouble as the replacement for the irreplaceable Tim Russert on NBC's "Meet the Press."

So, now CNN is getting squeezed from both sides of the political spectrum.

If you combined Cooper, Olbermann, Gregory and one fairly decent broadcaster, you'd have one fairly decent broadcaster. If you combine MSNBC and CNN you have one mediocre propaganda outlet.

I'm shocked.

Apparently his audience did not appreciate his tea bagging comments at the expense of the tea party goers. I am not sad to see this. He and his show were offensive and politically biased on at least this issue. We do not live in a one party State Anderson. Obama won by less than 5 points.

Anderson is boring! No wonder ratings dropping.

as we go along here in the aftermath of what passes as a result of an election it become clear the attempt to control the media by the poklitical (k is intentional ) forces is not necessary or needed.
The media talent pool bottomed out over a decade ago. Most media types today are merely teleprompters readers, or at best speed limit intellects who parrot todays cliches .
Most ,not all, reporters of merit have been reduced to occassional appearances on polarized shows or discussion groups or churning out little read books, after all what is a best seller if the amount sold is so small compared to past years, who reads or even more who understands the implications of the subject matter.
Never before have we had the need and the motivation for clarity and balance in reporting , evidenced that a former sports reporter is actually viewed a crediable source of political insight.
And he is not alone, but he stands alone as a prime example of what many feel is the accurate source of information.

I like to think I keep an open mind, but I blocked CNN on my TV the same day he made the sexually suggestive "teabagging" comment. That was just disrespectful to all American's right to free speech.
Good ridance.

I can't even watch CNN or MSNBC anymore. After witnessing first hand the total bias and misreporting, I don't trust either network. I want the real news rather than watching people like Chris Mathews give oral falatio to Obama and Co.

Cooper is a poor broadcaster. He has a whiny voice and he talks way too fast. SImple as that. There must be a better broadcaster than AC for the "face of CNN."

I imagine Jerry Springer gets better ratings too.

By and large the rule is the more actual news a program delivers, the lower its ratings will get.

Because Fox News isn't biased? You'd think there's a one section of one party state if you watch them.
