Sarah Palin turns 45 today. How are you celebrating?
Well, today is the Big 4-5 Sarah Louise Palin, the lipstick-wearing, pit-bull hockey mom whom some folks still can't get enough of -- and others long ago did. (But, look, you're still here reading!)
Alaska's youngest and first-ever female governor, she keeps popping up in the news for one thing or another. And we tend to follow her at the SarahPalin4President and at the SarahPalinBlog. Here, for those who are intrigued by her, is a birthday gift bag of recent Sarah Stuff. (For those who don't like her, you know you're gonna read it anyway):
At last report, Palin's husband, Todd, is running fifth, 61 minutes behind the leaders, in the Tesoro Iron Dog snowmobile -- er, snow-machine -- race, which he has won four times. It's one week long in weather that sometimes warms up to minus-40. So, he probably won't be bringing home fresh-cut flowers for SP tonight.
UPDATE: Todd finished sixth in a little over 41 hours.)
The Alaska Senate recently found Todd and nine others in contempt for ignoring subpoenas in the now-dead Troopergate investigation, but there's no punishment involved. The state's attorney general, Talis Colberg, who advised Palin and others during the investigation, resigned Tuesday over the controversy.
Nevermind Palin's own reported upcoming book, Simon & Schuster's Threshold Editions is about to publish "Trail Blazer: An Intimate Biography of Sarah Palin" by People's Lorenzo Benet.
A few leaked details concern how her hand got crushed years ago while helping her commercial fisher husband and how important Aug. 29 has become in Palin's life: wedding anniversary, John McCain's birthday and the day he announced her pick as his VP running mate that so energized the GOP's conservative base and many Republican donors.
And there's always talk of a movie.
The Republican governor recently launched her own SarahPAC to collect donations to finance her own political travel (Iowa's a long ways from Wasilla, you know) and to support like-minded conservative candidates elsewhere.
Palin did travel to Washington for the recent Alfalfa Club dinner of alleged D.C. elites (taking an overnight charter to avoid missing a day from state work), where she talked up Alan Greenspan and others, apparently impressing some longtime Republicans like Fred Malek.
And she also took the occasion to talk up Alaska's new planned pipeline with fellow dinner guest Barack Obama.
But with a re-election campaign looming next year, Palin turned down a blizzard of media interview requests to play down her Alaska absence. She's also decided against traveling back to Washington for the upcoming CPAC meeting but will address the conservative faithful via a videotape, which they do have now up in Alaska ever since electricity came in the other day.

Wow. What a smug, condescending title/article. You're attempt at further condescension by italicizing the "you" in the title was foiled though by your CMS, which apparently doesn't like HTML in the title tag field. Poor you.
I'd love to see the same condescension applied to dear leader BHO, but of course, that would violate your liberal ethos.
Keep the partisan articles come LA Times blogger!

Sarah Palin is the greatest person to enter the political arena in a long time. She just has that "it" factor. So everyone may as well get used to seeing her beautiful face and hearing about her stance on political issues. When Sarah is talking, she gives you that "she's one of us" feeling. Governor Palin is NOT the person Couric and some other reporters would like to have you think she is. The Governor is intelligent and hard-working. Sarah is going to be around for a very long time! 2012 can't come soon enough!!

Happy Birthday Gov. Palin!!
Surprisingly, this isn't the usual hit piece we've come to expect of this rag.
After watching the parade of tax cheats, corruption, extreme partisanship, and fear tactics used by the 0bama camp so far, coupled with a $1 tillion pay off to unions, Planned Parenthood, ACORN, and a host of other democratic faithful with taxpayers money, by 2012 the country will be looking for someone else to lead. That someone else will be Gov. Palin, a woman of quality, and not the hot air balloon we have now. The medias hot air generating machine isn't going to be able to keep him aloft for another 4 years, he's already starting to spring leaks.
Palin 2012.

I already celebrated--the day she lost the election. Hope she fades quickly into the obscurity she deserves.

WHO CARES!?!? Why is this moron still in the news. She showed herself to be flat out stuopid in her interviews and then tried to blame the media and her own running mates staff for her rediculous answers. She cultivated racism and hate at her rallies. She openly stated some parts of America harbor 'true Americans" and even called for members of the United States Comngress to be looked at to see if they harbor anti-American views. Are you kidding me? Our nations own elected Congress?!?! Nice pick Republicans, whose next?

How am I celebrating: by passin' gas.
Posted by: basementfrog | February 11, 2009 at 08:21 AM
I am celebrating Sarah's birthday by concentrating on the positive influence in my life. Before her introduction at the RNC, I was a died-in-the-wool Liberal (I thought). After hearing her speak, I started following her speeches along the campaign trail and observing the magnetiism that she exuded to the people. Post-election, I am now a member of Team Sarah reading about politics and issues discussed by extremely well informed and intelligent people, for the most part. I am learning a lot about navigating the internet with an avid interest that I never had before. Prior to this, I hated the internet and refused to deal with it - I suppose because I was introduced to the computerworld with the advent of PC's and MAC's. Sarah has changed my perspective on politics and the internet. Happy Birthday Sarah, and God Bless You and your family.

Hey LA Times are you wishing her a sincere happy birthday? or do you want her to take a beating in your liberal rag? my guess the latter is true!!!

This lady seems extremely insane to me. Why would anyone (other than terrorists) support Palin?
Posted by: Sally | February 11, 2009 at 01:42 PM
Please please please please let the Republicans throw all their support to Sarah Palin as their candidate for the 2012 presidential election. I can think of no other person who best exemplifies the Republican detrimentally simplistic view of world events. Her utter lack of knowledge can only enhance a typical Republican's opinion of her.
If you had no more sense than to re-elect GWB for a second term, then you should have no issue backing the Alaskan Loon as your next presidential candidate.

My present for the best governor in the country is another thousand bucks for her PAC to help her kick Barack's a$$ in 2012.

Hey LA Times what do you do when its Pelosi's birthday?? How about a facelift on your paper?!
Posted by: oplk@yahoo.com | February 12, 2009 at 03:55 AM
There is NO comparison between Biden and Palin. If Palin had gone to Europe last week, there would have been standing ovations. No, we have a VP Gaffer instead. And Pelosi, who is third in line...God help us. Happy Birthday, Gov. Palin, I am counting the days until 2012, if we still have a country left, after this Obamanation disaster.

I'm thinking that I might take my food money and adopt a wolf in Sarah Palin's honor.
But on the other hand, she forgot to celebrate mine!
Posted by: Susan Thompson | February 12, 2009 at 08:04 AM
PS: Yes she has the "it" factor! So does Paris Hilton, Marilyn Monroe had "it", too. Except Sarah dosen't have the big bucks, so probably doesn't know how to balance a budget, just like she has no knowledge of foreign policy, which magazines she reads (if indeen she reads), she has no knowledge of what "pork" is, or she wouldn't have kept the bucks from the brigge to nowhere.
Come on you people, think! Since when does a young , pretty face qualify for Pres. of the greatest, caring , hard working Nation in the free world.
Enjoy your Entertainment magazines for what they are, entertainment! Most of us have had enough entertainment at our expence over the last eight years. Time to get to work and support the good efforts of those who are trying to put an economy together and get jobs for people.

Just another year more Stupid!!!

I'm mourning the absence of any liberal voices that are not dedicated to their message of hatred.
You'd think that, having won the Presidency and both houses of Congress, that liberals might start to grow up... but no, they're still incapable of anything but intolerance.
I think it must be due to the lack of a soul.

Go Sarah! Can't wait for 2012 so we can get our country back....
We have mean-spirited, hateful people running our country, whom also happen to be cheats and crooks. The poor folks have to pay taxes, but the Obama people running our country do not have to pay until they get caught. Al Capone should be reincarnated. He would fit right in with the liberal LOONS in Washington!

Happy Birthday Sarah.
Only three more birthdays to go until you can celebrate it in the WHITE HOUSE, February 2013.
Thank you for re-igniting my interest in politics, policy and, frankly, our country. You've inspired my daughters who, by the way, will be old enough to vote for you in 2012. Keep doing great work in Alaska. Your day will come soon enough.

How anyone regards this woman as anything but a buffoon is beyond me. Wants to start a third war, with Iran--right.
