Don't mess with Joe!
6:23 p.m.: Obama explains that he is putting Vice President Joe Biden in charge of a "tough, unprecedented oversight effort" of the fiscal stimulus plan. "Because nobody messes with Joe."
Biden breaks into a huge grin, Nancy Pelosi stands to applaud the Veep. Weird moment of humor because it almost sounds patronizing. Biden does not seem to mind and the crowd eats it up.

Joe Biden has been involved and engaged through some of the toughest times in American history over the last 30 years - a time of great change and great challenge. He's been as honest as one could possibly expect from a man who has been a Senator from Delaware for nearly the last 30 years. Joe does bring a candor to the office of the VP, "folksy" some might call it, but underlying it all is straight talk... he holds a much greater willingness to get to the honest truth than John McCain, who touted himself a straight-talker, and proved otherwise. Joe's continual gaffes are because he's so aligned towards truth-telling about himself and situations, he's less likely to spit the spin and would rather take the risk in looking foolish than risk being thought of as dishonest. He lives honesty, even his honest mistakes. He will demand honesty from those under his review! No better man for the job, baby!!!
