The Ticket reports on the ticket situation for inauguration -- very tight

November 11, 2008 | 10:59 pm

A couple of people gathered on the Capitol steps for Inauguguration Day 2005

Who's gonna know more about Inauguration Day tickets than a blog called The Ticket?

After the longest presidential election process in history and the historic election of the nation's first African American president, demand for tickets to events surrounding Barack Obama's inauguration is already beyond belief.

Thousands of requests have already arrived in congressional offices that will be apportioning the 240,000 tickets to the swearing-in ceremony on the Capitol steps the morning of Jan. 20. Never mind the concerts. The airplane tickets. Railroad tickets. Bus tickets. Hotel rooms. Ball tickets.

Even if you get a ticket, you won't be anywhere near the scene in the above photo from 2005. And, guaranteed, someone will have a child on their shoulders directly in front of you.

The parade bleacher seats near the White House reviewing stand will go to the big donors, also guaranteed. So don't fall for any of those online. But elsewhere along the parade route you might want to stake out a spot any day now.

Just kidding.

The Associated Press has a video report below on the unprecedented demand.
