Friday roundup: transition edition

November 14, 2008 |  7:28 pm

Political reporters all over the nation are experiencing election postpartum depression. If you're reading this blog, you might suffer from it, too.

It works like this: After months of mounting intrigue and 24/7 media coverage, voters go to the polls and declare a winner. And then, after that thrilling dénouement . . . comes a lull.

Suddenly, your Electoral College map is irrelevant. And your RSS feeds don't call no more.

But don't worry, there is still plenty of interesting political news being churned out, and we at the Ticket vow to supply you with a steady fix. Once a week, beginning today, we'll post a roundup of some of the most interesting stories from around the web.

This week we offer:

An intimate look at Barack Obama's faith.

A dispatch from the Republican Governors Assn. by our very own Mark Z. Barabak.

A very funny cartoon.

Foreign Policy's 20 questions for Obama (thankfully, none of them are, "what kind of dog will you bring to the White House?").

Josh Greenman's own set of (sillier) questions.

Will Marshall's advice to Obama on how he can close the "national security confidence gap."

And an analysis of Obama's technology policy. (Our own Jessica Guynn, by the way, has crowned Obama the president-elect of the YouTube nation.)

Happy reading.

"Foreign Policy's 20 questions for Obama"

Reading that explains why the LA Times' circulation is crashing and burning.

The LA Times would never ask questions like those. They'd ask, "The Gov. Palin sure did attack you unfairly, didn't she?"

Where is Obama's change?

His choice of Rahm Emanuel is not a change , specially when I saw this report:

How Rahm Emanuel Earned $16 Million
Barack Obama's new chief of staff spent two years working as an investment banker in Chicago. Wassterstein Perella paid Rahm Emanuel $16.2 million and made him a managing director, despite the fact that Emanuel had never held a job outside of politics before. So what did he do to earn that kind of pay day?

"He was a highly-paid deal-maker who enriched himself by using his government connections to enrich big business," Tim Carney writes.

In addition his choice of Valeria Jarriet as his advisor who is another shaky personality with connection to Rezko!

CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN,,,WAS THIS WHAT OBAMA MEANT BY CHANGE? DID HE FOOL US WITH HIS SLOGAN? ARE YOU GOING TO COVER THIS ISSUE? THERE IS NO CHANGE IN OBAMA'S POTENTIAL CABINET MEMBERS... REMEMBER THIS COMMENT BY OBAMA?

Barack Obama, December 27, 2007: "The real gamble in this election is playing the same Washington game with the same Washington players and expecting a different result."

Does he remember his own comment?

Obama said volunteering will be a priority. How about using this slow news cycle to help nonprofits learn from his success? I'd like to read about how Obama attracted so many volunteers and donations.

In this recession, nonprofits are hurting for volunteers and donations. Shar McBee

I enjoyed Josh Greenman's questions, but imo you're all missing the point. Team Obama, as headed by Rahmbo, is winnowing the field down to people they can later blackmail if in future they're tempted to 'go rogue' or even off-message. Ask Eric Schmidt about the questions they ask in Google job interviews....
