A new Sarah Palin video that's more painful to watch than those Katie Couric interviews

November 21, 2008 | 10:48 am

Just in time for the holidays, we bring you the latest YouTube sensation: A video of Sarah Palin talking to reporters on a turkey farm yesterday while, in the background, a farm worker slaughters turkeys and drains their blood.

The gruesome footage was shot at a farm in Gov. Palin's hometown of Wasilla, Alaska. She was there to grant the traditional Thanksgiving pardon to one turkey.

You can watch what happens to the turkeys who weren't pardoned below. But be warned: it is not for the faint of heart.

And now I would like to introduce you all to "Dave the Turkey bleeder".

Gawd I love this woman! Hillarity follows whereever she goes.

There's something suspicious about this video: since when does a professional video cameraman frame a shot with a guy staring at the camera in the background? It's a basic screwup, like framing so a tree is growing out of the subject's head or the like. So the cameraman deliberately decided to do this.

Please, Please, lets not be stupid. How many of you are going to be talking about this story on Thanksgiving day with your mouths stuffed full of turkey, blabbing on about Sarah Palin's interview and how weird it was to see her talk so calmly about life and the economy while turkeys are being killed in the background?

How many of you are going to talk while your mouth is full of turkey, about your social calendar, the football game, how nice it is to have the family together, the latest book you read, as you eat the turkey that was killed to the right of where Sarah Palin stood?

Don't fall for MSNBC's attempt to portray Palin into some kind of bullseye, you cannot laugh at Palin without laughing at yourself, the two are interconnected. Whatever you think of her, applies to you, unless you are a vegan.

I vote we keep Sarah Palin around. Not where she could any damage, mind you, just where she can continue to be a source of unsurpassed hilarity, whether on purpose or not.

But wait... why is she wearing a burberry scarf??? I thought she returned all the clothes from Neiman's

This is a non-issue. It's not even graphic footage.

Thanks Sarah! I am now a Vegatarian!
and very pleased that the Election went the way it did.
I will try to avoid any future interviews that involve you.

We got a turkey from that very farm last year and it was delicious.

Nobody has mentioned the fact that before you eat a turkey you must slaughter a turkey, but after you eat a turkey you must defecate a digested turkey. Just because something is necessary doesn't mean it's pleasant or appropriate to show in the background of a political interview. I don't want to see Todd defecating in the background during her next interview, even though it's just as necessary and natural as killing a turkey! Yes, we already know he poops the day after Thanksgiving. We just don't want to see it.

I am not so much bothered by the turkeys being killed in the backround. As adults and anyone who eats meat has to know that it comes from somewhere. It is Palin's attitude about the whole thing. There is no way that she could not know that turkeys were being killed right behind her, yet she continued to talk as though they were sitting in her living room. The woman is strange...

This is too funny - John Stewart, Coen bros, SNL could not have made up a funnier skit -- SP continues to be utterly tone deaf and unintentionally hilarious. It is not about "hey that's where turkey mes from - I am no vegan, but she was there to pardon a turkey!!! look up i"rony" if you don't get it. and just cusit's true doesn't make it a good back drop for an interview - how about an FDA inspector ensuring us there is no problem with mad cow disease while in the background cows are being slaughtered? true? yes. a smart backdrop? well, you figure that out.

Let's alter some of the comments she said based on the background...

"It's pretty brutal what the turkeys go through,"..."there are so many turkeys that are wishing to grow and progress,..."we are in a good position fiscally, but the turkey behind me isn't.." "iwatching turkeys die brings levity, (being governor must be a hoot).",,,"This was fun (as a turkey squrims for its life in the background,"..and I am thankful for the the health of my family,,,but not the turkey dying right now"..

Oh and let's not forget about the reporter asking if any state programs are on the chopping block...well definitely not the turkey slaughtering for a photo-op industry, or is it? Man republicans confuse me.

This is BRILLIANT, Palin using imagery to convey a point about "turkeys" getting slaughtered. Only problem is, to those of us who watch her continually show how inept she is, the imagery in our mind shows the worlds BIGGEST turkey (the pretty one with the glasses giving the interview) who single handedly slaughtered the future hope of an entire party of turkeys (the Republicans). It's almost so bad that its to the point that us bleeding heart liberals, who are FULLY aware the turkeys don't just come-pre-packaged frozen in bags, they also work in Washington with names like McCain, Boehner, Cheney, Blunt, Bush, actually feel a little sorry for the less-than-wise Governor of Alaska. Wake up Republicans, you are still clueless, regardless of whether or not Palin did this to "prove a point" by using imagery....you should NEVER use imagery that can be offensive. What is she going to do next, give an interview from a children's hospital burn unit with kids getting their burns dressed in the background to prove that she will "burn the children" that the Dems put into office. See my point, she does not have the common sense to realize what is acceptable and what isn't, whether or not you find turkeys being slaughtered offensive, there are just some things a smart, wise, and sensitive politican should not show...but look who we are talking about....one that is about as far from smart, wise, and sensitive as they come. If Repubs are pinning your hopes on this TURKEY in 2012 then I say just give Obama the keys to the White House for 8 years for sure.

Did someone actually suggest that MSNBC deliberately tried to make Palin look bad in this video??? She was there to "pardon" a turkey. Her people "staged" the event! You don't have to be a "liberal", "Obamamaniac" or a Democrat to see that this woman and, apparently her handlers are pretty clueless. We understand that turkeys, chicken, cattle, hogs and other animals are slaughtered every day for human consumption. Don't you understand the simple fact that it is really NOT a great idea to "pardon" one of these animals for the sake of publicity while they are being slaughtered in the background? Texas has the death penalty. So maybe the Governor should pardon a death row inmate with a shot of an execution taking place in the backgroud????

It amazes me that the people who voted for Obama claim that they are tired of the politics as usual and want to wage "class warfare" but want to continually support an "elitist" upper class to govern for them. It seems that as long as you have your ivy league upper class royality telling you that they will make sure you get your 'welfare" because they are taking care of things puts you at ease. While you have a person like Sarah Palin who is of the people representing the true people of our great nation - including turkey farms- yet you find her "offensive" because she does not represent the image of the Kings and Queens you have put in office. These people will take your money - spend as they see fit and pat you on the head and say - don't worry we are all a circle of love...What a shame. Sarah is not trying to create the image of royality and I respect her for that. She has accompolished great things through the value of hard work and dedication - not through a network of elitist nitwits! -and- that makes them mad. Yet people follow right along with this insane notion that only the elite can govern - you are the sheep.

Fire that cameraman.

"But wait... why is she wearing a burberry scarf??? I thought she returned all the clothes from Neiman's"

EXACTLY what i was thinking! and she is just hilarious... if she keeps doing interviews with the "liberal media" then maybe tina fey will come back to SNL to do palin full-time...

Turkeys like Kouric should not be pardoned for their
yellow journalism sins. Lithicum's emphasis on the Turkey
rarther than Palin's message is another example not to
follow.

Tracy, I totally agree with you. I want to add that Sarah Palin is different, and people like to make fun of what's different. There's so much weakness of mind out there. Sarah Palin is an individual, a unique person who would not have gotten to where she is if she didn't have the courage to be herself, and to pursue her ambitions. She's not a wallflower, she's not a follower, she's a leader, and man that just bugs some people to no end.

That was hillarious! And educational. I didn't know that's how turkeys get slaughtered. My family used to slaughter chickens, back in communist Eastern Europe and they'd just chop the head off. You should've seen that show. This was very sanitized.

Sara Baby I lov ya, can't wait till you get to Washington in a few years. Notice all the libs have to do is constantly bash. What cassless chumps, keep drinking the Kool aid.

The chickens are the non-issue. What about what she says:

"Reigning in the growth of government"
"Helping to govern this state"
"Building this team…to provide good service to Alaskans"

How can you she go on about how she supports people who dislike big government while still claiming to want to provide services to her constituents?

The concept of a government official who is against government is laughable at best and terrifying at worst. We can blame Reagen for introducing the concept that the government is somehow "bad," but it's people like this who continue this political masquerade that's really just to strengthen industry.

I actually agree, government in it's current state is bad--It favors business over human rights, but making government smaller will only worsen the problem

I hope to God she runs for President in 2012. If you thought McCain got trounced in the electoral college, Palin would get slaughtered...pun intended. Too far right & no organizational skills whatsoever...amateur hour.

The faith of the unfortunate turkeys distracts from more Palin goblegook. I have tried several times to just listen to what she is saying, however again it is so much garbled speak, that it is impossible to find out what she is really trying to say - that is presuming she even knows herself what that is. I have difficulties to believe that this woman has a coherent thought process, otherwise she should be able to string 2 meaningful sentences together.
Quiz for all : does she even have a message and do you understand what she is really trying to say ?
