Sarah Palin attacks over Barack Obama's link to a '60s radical
[UPDATE BELOW]
With exactly one month until election day, will Bill Ayers, the anti-Vietnam War radical who helped found a bomb-planting protest group, morph into what some observers earlier had predicted -- the Willie Horton of the 2008 presidential campaign?
Horton, for those too young to remember, was a felon who, while on a weekend furlough from prison in Massachusetts, committed a heinous crime in Maryland. It happened under Michael Dukakis' gubernatorial watch, and in the final months of his 1988 White House bid the case was effectively used against him by his GOP rivals.
With this year's race entering its final stretch -- and Barack Obama having staked out a solid lead in recent polling -- John McCain's campaign has sent out word it's really ready to play hard ball against Obama (and here we naively thought the game already had been rough).
Out of the gate, it looks like hammering home Obama's link to Ayers could be central to that strategy.
The matter first arose several months ago during the Democratic nomination battle, and the Obama campaign felt compelled to post a page on its website that depicted his association with Ayers as tenuous.
Today, in a front-page story, the New York Times took its crack at airing out the Ayers connection. Here's the key part of the piece:
A review of records ... and interviews with a dozen people who know both men, suggest that Mr. Obama, 47, has played down his contacts with Mr. Ayers, 63. But the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called “somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.”
Sarah Palin, campaigning in the Denver area, took that ball and ran with it.
The Times' Robin Abcarian relates that Palin, speaking at a fundraiser, used a wry reference to one of the well-publicized questions she faced recently from CBS' Katie Couric to broach the Ayers issue. Said the Republican vice presidential candidate:
There is a lot of interest, I guess, in what I read and what I’ve read lately. Well, I was reading my copy of today’s New York Times [audience boos] and I was interested to read about Barack’s friends from Chicago [audience cheers].
I get to bring this up not to pick a fight, but it was there in the New York Times, so we are gonna talk about it. Turns out one of Barack’s earliest supporters is a man who, according to the New York Times -- and they are hardly ever wrong [audience laughs] -- was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol.' Wow. ...
Referring to Obama, she continued:
This is not a man who sees America as you see it and how I see America. We see America as the greatest force for good in this world. If we can be that beacon of light and hope for others who seek freedom and democracy and can live in a country that would allow intolerance in the equal rights that again our military men and women fight for and die for for all of us. Our opponent, though, is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country?
[UPDATE: Palin said much the same later in the day at a big rally in Carson, Calif. Abcarian reports that Palin signaled early in her remarks to an overflow crowd of more than 8,000 in the tennis stadium of Carson’s Home Depot Center that she would be going after Obama. “One of my campaign staff said as I was walking out here, ‘OK, the heels are on, the gloves are off,’ ” Palin said.]
Her comments in Colorado already had given the Associated Press the obvious lead for its story -- that she accused Obama of....
... "palling around with terrorists" as part of what the article characterized as a stepped-up effort to portray him "as unacceptable to American voters."
That effort can be expected to accelerate. And, most immediately, Ayers' name almost assuredly will surface in Obama's face-off with McCain in a town-hall setting this Tuesday.
Just as assuredly, the Obama campaign can be expected to use every means at its disposal to keep the spotlight on the issue that seems to have turned the election its way: the nation's economic turmoil.
Indeed, here's how Obama spokesman Hari Sevugan handled the reaction to Palin's Colorado comments:
Gov. Palin’s comments, while offensive, are not surprising, given the McCain campaign’s statement this morning that they would be launching Swift Boat-like attacks in hopes of deflecting attention from the nation’s economic ills.
In fact, the very newspaper story Gov. Palin cited in hurling her shameless attack made clear that Sen. Obama is not close to Bill Ayers, much less "pals," and that he has strongly condemned the despicable acts Ayers committed 40 years ago, when Obama was 8.
What’s clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy.
The N.Y. Times' story, by the way, quickly got hit from both the left and the right.
At Daily Kos, it was lambasted as a cave-in by the paper to the conservative critics who never tire of carping about it.
At the National Review's site, it's dismissed as a whitewash job that serves Obama's purposes.

here's the answer to the riddle-- McCain has Gordon Liddy in his past regarding Watergate, but Palin has Gordon Liddy in her immediate present circle in regards to drilling in Alaska
here's the article
Group hires Liddy of Watergate fame to promote Alaska petroleum drilling
http://juneauempire.com/stories/042008/sta_270391952.shtml
"ANCHORAGE - The lobbying group that uses state of Alaska money to push for petroleum drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge has hired Watergate conspirator and talk radio host G. Gordon Liddy to broadcast live from Alaska.
Arctic Power spokesman Adrian Herrera said Liddy was hired to broadcast from Alaska for five days in mid-July. His listeners are mostly blue collar and middle-aged, Herrera said."
seems like there's some vested interest in this. Palin's husband is also with BP-- so how much money goes around and into the back pocket when Palin is chanting "Drill, baby, drill" as she corrected Biden.
and does Biden have any personal interests? Seems like there's a Halliburton going on here.
here's media matters
Why is the NY Times continuing to ignore McCain's "own Bill Ayers"?

This is the lowest of low. I am almost ashamed to be in a country where someone would stoop to this level running for such a distinguished office. Everyone needs to go to the McCain Website and demand an apology to Obama. Is this really the kind of Hockey mom-win at any cost mentality we want in such a position. Go back to Alaska and get in fist fights at the hockey game with other parents, not in a presidential race that is supposed be a respected office. How can anyone see this and not be disgusted beyond belief. Republican or Democrat or whatever...this should make you ill. Go to johnmccain dot com and demand an apology.

It's terrorists like Alec and other neocons on these boards that give America bad name. They are the dregs of society.

Tell me - why was not more made of the adviser who left the McCain campaign in the spring because his company was considered to be assisting the JUNTA of Burma in their lobbying efforts. First of all ... I could not even make sense of that. So what do we do with Military DICTATORS who have brutalized buddhist monks? ... How do we put that in our field of thinking ...

Way to go Sarah Palin ! It is about time someone started bringing these issues up. I can not believe the free pass Obama gets from all the media. Come on people Open your eyes and yes I have read the horrible senior thesis of his wife THIS IS SCAREY ! Obama is SCAREY ! look at all his ties to these people and then look at the dispicable ad he aired .they were children singing his praises...Thats what they do in third world countries where dictators rule ! Is that what we want for America ??? Wake up people .

If the media would have done it's job on Obama as it did on Palin he would have droped out long ago. Fro the mess in Chicago schools that he was part of to the housing faiklure, he was there. The bridge to no where? Voted for by Obama and Biden. Voted against by MxCain. The democrats got so involved hating George Bush they let a ral loser slip in.

No surprise here. Obama wanted to meet unconditionally with enemy leaders also. My concerns are, who exactly is Barrack Obama and what is his real agenda?
Posted by: Rick F | October 04, 2008 at 04:45 PM
Um, you are 6 months behind times with that question. He is an American. His agenda is to save it from itself. And to then improve it. Return it to its former glory as that shining beacon of liberty, justice and the American way.
If you missed that, you should not be blogging such stupid comments. Go and fill up on his history, his agenda, read his books, etc... Then come back.
If you can't do that, suggest you go play on the childrens' websites until you grow up. This is adult work here.

This will help Obama. We're still mostly a nation of decent people who have been fooled once too often by foul mouthed, snide, and baseless accusations. And look where and who they got us.
But when it comes to having chosen the right person to sarcastically deliver dirt and the person who is familiar with sludge and shady associations, they scored with the half baked Alaskan dimwit cheerleader queen.

Sarah Palin is just repeating facts that Hillary Clinton first warned about. Barack Obama has been to Bill Ayers home more than once. Bill Ayers was a fundraiser for Obama. Bill Ayers contributed personal money to Obama's campaign. Sometimes the truth hurts but it's still the truth. Obama is not fit to be president.
Posted by: McCain in 2008 and Hillary in 2012 | October 04, 2008 at 05:41 PM
Ah, Sarah making an effort at substance! After she couldn't answer any of Catie Kouric's questions and thinks that seeing Russia from Alaska makes her good at foreign policy, she now wants to sell herself as expert on one of Obama's acquaintances some 30 years ago. Even if Obama had a relation with this person: everybody agreed that the Vietnam war had to be stopped. That he stopped his relation with Ayers when he understood Ayers methods is clearly obvious. What is wrong with knowning an activist while the cause is right and disengaging when it is clear that it isn't right anymore? Absolutely nothing. I would surely hope that who we knew in the past doesn't affect our present because one of these acquaintances went a wrong path later on.
Beware of Sarah's moralism, she wants to be the moral police. Her smear campaign against Obama fits with her views on denying abortion in the case of rape and incest.
Pro life - no, that she isn't. Pro smear and viciousness: yes, that she is.

If you freaking neocons read Obama's book yuu would know who he is. But then again, you probably don't read, you just listen to Limbaugh, the drug addict, Savage, the psycopath, Fox News, the National Enquirer of TV, and worship McCain, Gingrich and Giuliani, three men who left their wives for younger women because they couldn't get it up. In the meantime, Obama who loves his wife has more integrity in his little finger than you nightmares on Elm St. Your hate comments on these blogs just increase the resolve of Americans to ensure that people of your ilk like McCain and Palin never get to power.

"I've got no use for America or her damned institutions," and "The fires of Hell are glaciers compared to my hate for the American government." --comments by--Wright? Ayers? No, those are the words of Joe Vogler, founder of the secessionist Alaska Independence Party, to which not only her husband but also Palin herself belonged in 1994, according to AIP chairman Lynette Clark(per CBS article, at http://tinyurl.com/6e2s57). Clark was also quoted as saying that both Palin and her husband attended 1994's AIP convention.
Vogler has also said, "I'm an Alaskan, not an American." His party's motto is "Alaska First, Alaska Always."
I'd like to see other media investigate these links more fully. If Palin herself was a member of this extremist group, she needs to be held accountable. She needs to be questioned on her thoughts, past and present, about these comments, her relationship with the AIP, and what she has to say to Americans concerned with her putting the interests of Alaska above the nation's. If she claims her attitudes have changed, I want to hear the story of how and when that happened. Until then, she has no right to pretend to represent the interests of the rest of us.

I expect the left-wing liberal lunacy from L.A. and this paper in particular, but this man blew up the PENTAGON for GOD'S sake....he is a terrorist, as much as you lunatics don't want to admit it. He is as bad as Al-Qaeda, or Tim McVey, or any of the 19 that flew the planes into the WTC. Please, California, secede from the USA and let your savior Obama be your 'Dear Leader', or drop off the edge of the continent via earthquake..........'real ' AMERICA does not want you, or need you. Please go !!!! It's not just Hollywood that has the weirdos, it's the entire state !!!!!! If the 'other' terrorists strike again, I can only hope it is California and they do a good job of it.

Mr. Obama is merged at the hip with Ayers. The records clearly show that they have worked hand in hand for years for a socialist agenda. Obama worked for Ayers as a CEO of an Annenberg Foundation funded project, the grant going to Ayers, which gave money to projects in Chicago schools; with no funding to anything that promised improved math or science skills. They co-hosted many meetings and worked closely. The project was deemed a failure when test scores and retention rates are considered, they went down.
Obama locals did everything to stop the Annenberg papers from being released by U Chicago, this received some press. Mr Obama did not win and the papers were released to the public.
(Listen to WGN's Chicago based conservative University of Chicago professor named Milt Rosenberg who hosts an evening talk show on WGN internet radio at his website.) You really must. Mr Obama's locals were threatening to sue the radio station if they hosted Mr. Kurtz, a well known expert on this interesting history of Obama being a best friend of Ayers.
Read about the world Obama and Ayers wish for, and Ayers has already tried out.

She either didn't read the article carefully, or she didn't understand it. Maybe she should have her brother's 3rd grade class read it and explain it to her... Maybe the class could also come up with a new campaign strategy, some economic policies, healthcare ideas, etc. for the Republicans, as they don't seem to be able to articulate any...

At this point, McCain and his Karl Rove handlers know McCain/Palin can't win with what they have to offer voters, so they are going to use the last 30 days to drag out every bit of dirt from Obama's past, distort and exaggerate it, and manufacture more if necessary... since voters will not have time to find out the truth before election day. Chicago's Mayor Daley consults with Ayers about education frequently to this day. Obama's ties to Ayers are weak, from the past, and have nothing to do with Ayer's days as a radical when Obama was 8 and lived elsewhere. The red-necks will do anything to stir up fear and suspicion about Obama.. take an ounce of truth and stir in a pound of lies and present it all as truth. Meanwhile, America is burning due to the disasterous "leadership" of George Bush & Co and the Republican Party. With leaders like Bush and McCain, who needs to worry about terrorists?. they've already done much more damage to the USA than any terrorist could ever hope to achieve in their wildest dreams !!!

I can't help thinking how divided the USA will be after this election with all the derogatory comments being made about Obama by people who deliberatly misinform. All's fair in love, war, and elections is a dangerous road to take. If Obama is elected and the election is a close one, it will be hard for us, being divided, if many people believe he is some kind of anti-American with a secrete agenda, which I do not believe. My dad and sister forward me emails they get from the republicans and it is scary to see how much they believe the crap being stated. They are afraid of him! It looks to me like the opposition is using tactics that can only lead to harm for us all. We can not afford to be divided. It's irresponsible to lie about a man who may lead us just because they want the other guy. Does anyone else see that?
Posted by: Orville Weale | October 04, 2008 at 05:48 PM
Why can't the people of America wake up ... Palin is not making this up. When Obama was younger, his mentor was the late communist Frank Marshall Davis. Obama even wrote about him and Frank in his book Dreams From Our Fathers.
If elected, this country will become socialist. We will lose our democracy, that I feel is a certainty. Have you no idea what Obama had in the past proposed for America? Do some damn homework on this most important decision you will ever make for our country before going to the polls in Nov. Do you want our country to have a Global Poverty Act as the Marshall Plan for 3rd world countries (Africa), have universal guaranteed health care, free college tuition, universal national service, universal 401ks (government matches contributions for low and moderate income families, "free" job training even for criminals, wage insurance (supplement union workers), universal preschool, more subsidized public housing (who's going to repair the mess the tenants made of the ones we now have), a fatter earned income tax credit for the "working poor", plus the president and commander in chief sitting down with the evil rulers of rogue nations, ones that want Israel wiped off the face of the earth.
All the above costs lots of money and all have been proposed by Obama. And remember, Obama is very little "black", he is mostly Arabic; his names are definitely Arabic. Obama could even be a sleeper; he was brainwashed as a youth by his radical Islamic stepfather and other Muslim radical family members and friends. He's a time bomb for the U.S.A.
Posted by: Obama is not a loyal american | October 04, 2008 at 05:50 PM
First there was the questionable actions of Obama's minister that he (Obama) has taken as a spokes person for the Almighty God - Then there is the questionable circumstances of his birth records that state his adoption in Africa by American Citizens - then there is his ties to the Islamic Radicals - and now documented proof that he has an association with a known civil terrorist - how can any one want this guy to even be walking the streets in America let alone be thought of as a candidate to lead it - the fact that he is not a natural born citizen makes it unconstitutional for him to be a candidate and makes him a prime target for a lawsuit by any American Citizen - A vote for Obama is a Vote for Osama. Keep him out of the election and take away his freedoms - With the kind of company he keeps he isn't even worthy to be called American.
Posted by: didacticus | October 04, 2008 at 05:52 PM
too lame to even comment....
Posted by: talan | October 04, 2008 at 05:53 PM
Predictable.
Down by double-digits in some polls, the last thing McCain/Palin are going to do is talk about their vision for America. "Let''s try to sleaze our way back to the top of the polls by slinging as much mud as possible."
Obama served with the guy on a board for charitable community work. Obama is NOT a terrorist and does NOT condone terrorism.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is a pinhead.

Well, I thought the hockey mom Sarah Palin just mentioned somewhere that she is running to change Washington politics. I'm not seeing any change here. It's more of the same classic Bush doctrine here. Instead of discussing the issues at hand, they will run personal attack campaigns, questioning the patriotism and moral integrity of everyone. So much for all your working across the aisle, bipartisan talk, Sarah. Now make me believe that you Republicans can bring true change to Washington, just like you said. Make me believe that you will not resort to the disgusting slash & burn politics of George Bush. Make me believe that you and your partner McCain are actually capable of running this country. So far, there is really little or no evidence of all that except for stirring up vague controversies and confusion. I really hope your tactics of distraction will not work else it will be an ultimate insult to the intelligence of ordinary Americans.
Posted by: chlai88 | October 04, 2008 at 05:58 PM
Remember Mr. Obama, the desperate will go to all ends of the spectrum, they will profess they are honest and then lie every time they speak, pretend to be religious then go out and show they are not. Hang in there, counter punch hard and continue to do what you are doing. Eventually the "Old man and the Shrew" will fade into the distant past.

Alright!! Sarah Plain Jane is trying to show people she can actually read AND she gets the story COMPLETELY WRONG. I don't know whats a matter with people in this country. Sarah Palin is a slack jawed yokel who has spent much too much time in the sticks. People that are for this ticket need to stop drinking the moonshine, put on some shoes, stop kissing your sister and definitely stop eating the lead based paint chips. OBAMA '08!!!!!

Unfortunately for the hippies and the Democrats, Obama's relations with William Ayers is factual. This will be virtually impossible to spin...though I'm sure the MSM and "the true-believers" will certainly try.
Posted by: Superpower | October 04, 2008 at 06:04 PM
Obama is one of the most vetted candidates ever to run for office. What has it been, over a year since this race started? How many Democratic candidates tried for the nomination? Was it a rough campaign? Were they looking for dirt? As Palin would say, "you betcha." If Obama were chummy with a terrorist, you would have heard all about it by now. Don't think the media wasn't hungry for some scandal to show him as a flash in the pan. And if you think the liberal media would have given him a pass, remember that the media loves to eat its young.
This is mudslinging, plain and simple, and perhaps even race-baiting.
You can put lipstick on a bulldog, but its still a b****h.

Gov. Palin as the McCain "pitbull" interesting!
I used to believe John McCain was a man of ethics who understood the negative impact not just on individual candidates but on the nation as a whole when we reduced our political dialog to the level of lies and willful distortions of the facts purely for political gain. He of all people should be aware of this considering how often he has been the victim of just such attacks.
I would like to point to the obvious end result of this type of sniping by Mr. McCain's campaign, a very large segment of the population who do extensively read the national press and who are familiar with John McCain's activities will demand, once again in very large numbers, to see full detailed accounts of John McCain's involvement in the Keating scandal, and of course the questions regarding why someone with such intimate knowledge of the S&L meltdown would spend decades trying to deregulate our financial institutions. And of course from a logical perspective of fairness among other issues, it would seem a full investigation of Mr. McCain's effort's to change national policy to allow a foreign country to manufacture critical military hardware, while members of his own staff were actively involved in lobbying for Airbus so more American jobs, tax dollars, and the control of strategic military hardware would be placed in the hands of a number of nations overseas who vigorously disagree with our political system and our foreign policy. This crusade having been instigated at John McCain's insistence substantially before the improprieties of the Boeing tanker scandal, which he claims to have solved completely on his own. He stated in the debate that he had saved the American taxpayer six billion dollars owing to his direct intervention, but now that an oversight committee and the military have found significant "irregularities" and that there were "flaws" in the original bidding process lobbied for and proposed by Mr. McCain, here we are years later and we still have no tankers and even less hope of a viable resolution to this issue due to Mr. McCain forcefully inserting himself in this process at the behest of Airbus. Of course I am inclined to wonder what the final true cost for these tankers will be due to these delays and having to rebid these contracts, now that the senator has salvaged this deal.
If the "New York Times" and various other news agencies have convinced themselves that there may be more mileage and some long term advantage to be had by reporting on distortions and fabrications by Gov. Palin, I suggest you review the current administrations actions and comments regarding news agencies that don't agree with them and are prone to reporting the facts then compare that to recent statements from the McCain campaign. With that type of national leadership the ability for any of us to state what we think or demand the truth may be rather short lived. It could just be me but I seem to see a trend here.

RE:
Sarah Palin attacks over Barack Obama's link to a '60s radical
--------
Montreal, CANADA, October 4, 2008
TO THE NEXT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NEW PRESIDENT:
"MAY I CALL YOU "O" ?"
Because of MAIN STREET!
Because of WALL STREET!
In that final electoral sprint - ending soon next coming november 2008 - while THE WHOLE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA has its eyes on YOU.
Everyone expects You to be democratically elected and see that something happen in America.
In March 1983, one of humanity's most famous spokesmen, Pope John Paul II, came to our country - 'Haîti' - and loudly proclaimed what each and every one of us had been whispering:
'Something must change here.'
Today, more than ever, a lot of people of The United States of America stand up, longing for something and working to make something happen.
"Go thou America ahead and show us thy true countenance in a positive light.' It is up to everyone to play his or her part in order to let thee regain thy mark of excellence !"
With this letter, I am communicating with You, SIR, and with the whole people of The United States of America.
You offer this country what it takes to be a 'Wonderfull Land.' Yes, let us say 'with a great people living and working together.'
Go thou, America, go ahead, following in the footsteps of one of thy sons who is now becoming one of thy statesmen.
With this in mind, to whom else could I entrust this letter sent to his Holiness Pope John Paul II when he set foot on Haitian soil for the first time, as well as its acknowledgment by the Vatican?
That letter to Pope John Paul II is intended to draw attention to the problem posed by anti-Black discrimination and its negative repercussions on the advancement of scientific progress in the West, and more precisely in the realm of Optics.
In the Western world, according to Newton's widely accepted theory, white is considered to be the synthesis of all colors. Actually, the opposite is true. White constitutes the analysis or 'visible' decoding of light or color, whereas black is its synthesis or 'invisible' composition.
In other words, darkness or blackness and, we might add, "Black Holes'" - a scientific misnomer designating invisible stars or 'Black Suns' - are a source of energy and light. Scientifically, Industrially and Economically speaking, what an asset !
That basic raw material of light energy culminates, in its most radiant form, in the neutralization of all the colors of the spectrum in the form of usually called "white light."
Therefore "absolute blackness", the absorption of all the colors, is a divisible component of light. Needless to say, Newton's theory gives only a partial interpretation of the notion of light, by excluding black. Our contribution aims at demonstrating that the black color is not only an integral part of the color process, but its true synthesis. Light is therefore shown to be a divisible whole comprising an intensity or color scale in which black is the invisible or 'absorbed' form of the energy in question.
Allow me, SIR, in order to support my statement concerning Black Holes and radiation, to pose a question asked by Hubert Reeves, Doctor of nuclear astrophysics and Scientific Consultant to NASA:
"What would have become of the Sun, if it were plunged into a high temperature radiance like the one that existed at the beginning of the Universe? [our translation]"
"Instead of emitting light, it would absorb it and, in the end, it would be completely reabsorbed into the cosmic fluid."
The cosmic fluid is what, due to an "optical mistake", is called "darkness" or the "blackness of Space". We are talking about the electromagnetic flux, that immeasurable ocean in which the planets and stars are bathed, like the sea which links all the continents together. Darkness is thus "The Sea of Space."
"What would have happened if, instead of an ordinary star like the "White Sun", a Black Hole or "Black Sun" were injected into that primordial radiation?"
"According to Einsteinian Physics, a Black Hole is a place where gravity is so formidably intense that nothing can escape it, not even visible light. Such a hole should suck in and absorb radiation and increase its own mass: E=MC2, always."
"But after Einstein came Bohr, Heisenberg, and Quantum Physic. From then on, nothing was the same as before."
"The Einsteinian version of the Black Hole is equivalent to a statement that the matter inside the Black Hole is definitely there to stay, in that volume of space. Let us quote Hubert Reeves: "Such an absolute statement is thus contrary to the "Quantum spirit", affirming that nothing is definitely localized in one place. There is always a probability of escape. If the enclosing wall is too high, a tunnel will be dug; if the prisoners are patient, they will escape. One has only to wait." [our translation]
"According to that principle, Black Holes "evaporate". Matter constantly escapes as radiation. Black Holes "shine!" Their surfaces behave like those of any body heated to a certain temperature and that radiation endlessly feeds that marvelous "Cosmic Fluid" which, wrongly and in bad faith, people keep calling "Darkness."
Nigra sum "sed" formosa!
Yes, but should we not say instead, I am black "and" comely?
Darkness, which is both source and vehicle of light, does not have to defend itself for being the beautiful and infinitely discreet raw material of the Universe. Darkness is the "Mother of the Universe."
Also, beautiful and discreet art thou, Haiti. Discreet, yes, but never outshone! Just like the Black Virgin who inspires and sheds her love on thee from the hilltop and even beyond Cité Soleil (Sun City).
Our purpose was to offer a more constructive approach aiming at correcting the abusive traditional, so-called scientific, theories of Optics.
It’s like to say that in the exceptional circumstances in which we live today - in the point of view of FINANCE and ENERGY - no exploration in the mid or long term, by the american expertise , of an additional source of energy, at the same time safe and economically profitable, should not be ruled out.
That is why, we wrote to that authentic witness to the signs of this age, His Holiness Pope John Paul II, the prophet of the new era.
Congratulations to You, Sir, and congratulations to the PEOPLE of The United States Of America - for having made it possible for this day of November to come - to mark the beginning of a "New Era of Hope !"
Lucien Bonnet

No matter what kind of tactic you Republicans try this year, it ain't gonna work!! We're not dumb enough to fall for any swift boat wanna be tactics. Not this time around!!!

I wonder if the McCain camp understands that the majority are laughing at Palin(and them) in general and not with them? Palin's husband was a member in a seperatist party for christ's sake and she's going to throw stones over someone who did bad things when Obama was 8, and who he doesn't even have strong ties with? Let's see... married to a traitor or served on a board with someone who did bad things when you were 8... I think it's pretty clear which one is worse.
Go back to Alaska and beg for more federal funds Palin like the good little pit bull you are, that's about the only thing you've proved you're good at in US politics.
And yes, contrary to popular hysteria(common on the right) most pit bulls are more likely to be caught begging for scraps from their master's table, than attacking people. Her record in Alaska is very typical of a pit bull, begging for scraps from the federal table. Though honestly, pitt bulls tend to be more loyal to their masters and don't pal around with traitors.

"The Obama campaign cries foul when Bill Ayers comes up, claiming “guilt by association.” Yet the issue here isn’t guilt by association; it’s guilt by participation. As CAC chairman, Mr. Obama was lending moral and financial support to Mr. Ayers and his radical circle."
Those interested in the truth (and Obama's efforts to hide that truth) should read Stanley Kurtz's article in the WSJ about the very troubling relationship between Obama and Ayers.

What is this talk about McCain/Palin being desoerate? These connections with William Ayers are solid well documented facts. No wonder the Obama people are upset tonight, they have good reason to be, they're backing a candidate that has clear ties to national terrorism. I can't wait to see Chris "lapdog" Mathews defend these facts.

Yeah Sarah!!!!! I was at her rally today in Carson CA and she made the same comments about the NYT article and the Obama/Ayers connection!!!!
Go Sarah Go!!! WHOOOHOOO!! Finally!!
Time for Obama to start owning up to his little circle of "friends"

Ha ha! Funniest post here by: Superpower: "Thank you Vice President Palin, the American people need a voice to get the word out about these degenerate, malcontent evil hippies".
Are you kidding me??? Did they re-animate Nixon??? That's hilarious...

One hopes that Sen. Obama will lightly deflect this garbage, and stay above the fray.
Seems like Rove all over again.

Lets talk about lies and trying to deceive the public. Palin has got to win this. If she is able to keep her pregnancy from being discovered by her family friends and peers, what is she able to hide from the public. Please, everyone lets think about who and what we have going for america. "WE THE PEOPLE" deserve better than a McCain ,Palin money hungry, the rich come first ,Mongrel.

Sarah Palin is an embarrassment for all women! For her to think that looking cute and winking are ways to get a job, she is sadly mistaken. As a woman, I'm disappointed and hope that teenagers do not think that's okay in the real world.

Outside perspective: In Germany we had, from 1998 to 2005, a government full of politicians who not only talked to homegrown left wing radicals in the 60's, but supported some of them actively by, for example, hiding them from the police force. Our foreign affairs minister, Joschka Fischer, the guy who had the balls to confront Rumsfeld, even beat and hurt officers back then. But 30 years later all of them did an excellent job in office. Unemployment is half now from what it was before. So what's the big deal then with Obama knowing somebody, distantly, who meant trouble a long time ago? I wonder what shady friends McCain can offer. The world comes in shades of grey.

As the article said, the Obama camp made this fair game when they had it brought up in the New York Times. The fact is, this is all true, and it's far more recent than Obama would lead you to believe.
Be careful, America, I believe you are being played.
"When Illinois State Senator Alice Palmer decided to retire in 1995, she hand-picked local left-winger Barack Obama as her successor. In order to introduce Obama to influential liberals in the district, she held a function at the home of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. This was, really, the beginning of Obama's political career, and it linked him forever with Ayers and Dohrn, with whom, as his campaign has acknowledged, he continues to have a friendly relationship."

Do yourself a favor. Copy and paste this into google
"Bill Ayers" "Alice Palmer" "Barack Obama" Dohrn
Don't jeopardize your country by not checking your facts tirelessly.
This is only one of many, many reasons I could not vote for Obama, but it is also one of many, many, MANY reasons I can't understand he is even in the position he is in, that he could actually be our next president. A guy with only 173 days in office, no tangible track record, shady history and acquaintances.

Palin has sold her soul to the devil.

Sarah Palin is a master of manipulation. She can manipulate the same thoughts and rhetoric into a variety of (curious) sentences and paragraphs and convince some people that there is actually any meaningful knowledge or content to her platform. She can manipulate what she is fed (I'm sure someone read the story to her...she couldn't even name any paper or periodical when asked by Couric) so that she sounds like she knows what she is talking about. She is abusing her current power in an attempt to manipulate people with fear and anger. Come on Sarah, what are you, in Junior High?

One is judged by the friends one keeps.
Obama fails.

Ok if I happen to talk to someone that has commited a crime does that make me a criminal? No it does not! This guy wasn't even convicted of anything.
This is a really low attempt to try and win an election.
McCain and palin have lost all credibility
What about McCain and palins real corruption!
Keating 5 , troopergate
Just remember McCain when we throw mud back it's going to stick!

Smears of desperation. Instead of fighting a fair fight, the Republicans resort to the only thing they seem to excel at--smears and lies. Did anyone tell Palin that the NYTimes article concluded that there was no real solid connection between Obama and Ayres? Did she not conclude that Obama was EIGHT YEARS OLD when Ayres committed his crime?
Interesting that Palin would stoop so low as to quote from the former enemy newspaper to glean her "facts"?
She, like McCain is officially a SLEAZEBALL. While they are fleeing Michigan like wharf rats, they resort back to a Rove-inspired sleaze "campaign". Palin is actually setting politics for women back a few years. She is a shameless hack.

If you listen to Palin's words closely here, I betcha you're gonna hear some fear.
