That Barack Obama speech on TV this week? 'Saturday Night Live' predicts something else
We all know that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has purchased half an hour of television time Wednesday evening. (How much clout does this guy have? Major League Baseball agreed to push back the start time of the World Series so he could buy time on the Fox network. Now that's clout.)
But what you don't know -- at least according to the folks over at "Saturday Night Live" -- is that Obama isn't going to give a speech.
FRED ARMISEN AS SEN. BARACK OBAMA: "Good evening, my fellow Americans. I am Barack Obama and this is my wife, Michelle. This coming Wednesday, our campaign will run a special 30-minute address on all four major networks.
MAYA RUDOLPH AS MICHELLE OBAMA: "This airtime was initially purchased so that we could speak to you one last time about the issues."
ARMISEN AS BARACK OBAMA: "However, with poll numbers putting us so far ahead, we decided now's the time to play it safe."
RUDOLPH AS MICHELLE OBAMA: "Instead of a conventional address, we're going to carefully manage our lead and, well, shake things up ..."
(THE LIGHTS COME UP ON STAGE. THERE IS A LARGE SILVER "O" ON THE FLOOR OF THE STAGE.)
ARMISEN AS BARACK OBAMA: "... with the 'Barack Obama Variety Half-Hour'!"
According to "SNL," the half-hour (see the video by clicking on Read more...) will feature ...
... musical numbers -- "Our House is a very, very, very fine House" by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Kristin Wiig), with backup by Reps. Rahm Emanuel (Andy Samberg) and Barney Frank (Bobby Moynihan), and former President Bill Clinton (Darrell Hammond) crooning "Don't you forget about me" -- and a comedy sketch with vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden (Jason Sudeikis) enjoying a tasty dinner by putting his foot in his mouth. There are even special guest appearances by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright (Kenan Thompson) and '60s radical William Ayers (Bill Hader).
But where, you might wonder, is Hillary Clinton? Amy Poehler, the "SNL" cast member who portrays the New York senator, went into labor Saturday and is now the proud mom of 8-pound, 1-ounce Archie Arnett. According to an NBC press release, "Mother, baby and husband Will Arnett are all healthy and resting comfortably."

There is no real change in Obama’s speeches.
Here is real change we can believe in. Bible, Isaiah 2:4 says "They shall beat their swords into plowshares... and learn war no more."
The candidates plans of rebuilding the military, building alliances to fight other people's wars, enticing more people to enlist and prepare for war, and giving better benefits is not change. If we turned from our employment lifestyle that causes stress, pollution, disease, accidents, afflictions, wars and conflicts, we would not need universal health care, social services like welfare and pre-kindergarten child care.
Alliances would not be need if we turned from our lifestyle of building military weapons, manufacturing, processing, and transporting food, goods, and people around the world to creating a garden paradise that supplies our needs in our communities. God's plan is ours when we release the past polluting, bondage and stress producing lifestyle behind.
Barack Obama would be a charismatic leader who, if he could, would make us prosper like Bill Clinton did; but we would still be working away from families, buying insurance, dealing with daily stress of child care, college tuition, sons in military, conflicts over abortion, marriages, and religion.
Independence from foreign oil will still make us dependent on local energy suppliers. We will still be complaining about energy costs. There is no real change until we really change direction toward creating a true freedom and independence by creating a garden paradise. That solves all world problems at the same time. This is what God meant when He said, "Come out" in Revelation 18.
The facts are that John McCain will be better able to talk with Muslim leaders, though he might not even realize it yet.
Muslims - Islamists are fighting a Holy War for holy principles. They do not want the indecency, immodesty and immorality that democracy brings with it. They do not want abortion rights, same gender unions and other things the Qur'an and the Bible condemn. The primary message of the Qur'an is to follow the whole Bible of 600+AD (Qur'an 5.68, 69; 42.14-16, Ahmad. Numbers) Jesus agreed in Matthew 4:4 (live by Every word of God).
Barack Obama and his Democratic Party refuse to fight against abortion rights and same gender unions. John McCain and his Republican Party promise to overturn the right to an abortion. Further to John McCain's credit is that he chose a strong woman of the Bible to be his Vice-President assuring an openness to turning to God's ways. There will be something to talk about when they meet Muslims face to face when we are willing to do things according to God's word.

Wow, who would've thought Islamists and the GOP have so much in common.

Marie Devine,
John McCain is the last person we need dealing with our adversaries. He is erratic, reckless and irresponsible and his selection of Palin underscores that. They are both power-hungry maniacs who will stop at nothing to get to the top. Being a woman of the bible is hardly a qualification to be the Vice President. A depth of knowledge or at least the exhibited capacity and desire to acquire a depth of knowledge would be a good start and Palin has shown neither. She is an extremely uninformed, uneducated and narrow-minded woman. People like Palin spew hate and do so holding up the Bible and religion as if their views are somehow divinely validated and anyone who dares to question them is questioning God. She and the rest of the noecons are no different than the Muslim extremists who manipulate the Koran to spread hate and division. I have only one great hope for Bible-beaters like Palin, I hope that the principles of Christianity really are true. If that is the case all of the ignorant, hateful zealots like Palin, Bachmann, Robin Hayes and many others in the GOP will have a lot to answer for on Judgement Day.

Marie, have you ever heard of separation of church and state?
Please keep in mind that not everyone is a religious conservative, nor does everyone share your views.
Your post scares me. Leave us heathens alone and let God deal with us.

Marie,
It is people like you that convinced me to vote for Obama.
God gave each of us choice and each of us must be responsible for our actions (or inaction) while walking this earth. Why would you want to interfere with what is between me and my God? If I'm bad I may roast in hell, but that's MY choice!
Ditto Ann on the separation of church and state!

Interestingly, I see that tonight's TV schedule includes Barack's infomercial on CBS and NBC (including MSNBC) and Fox, not on ABC, and on the rest of my local cable it seems to only be on BET! Wonder what that implies!
