John Moody of Fox News goes out on a political limb -- and apparently is still on it
We waited patiently, wondering through the evening and into this morning whether John Moody, the executive vice president of Fox News, would modify the bold prediction he made Thursday night in a blog posting.
In case you missed the item on the Fox Forum, headlined "Moment of Truth," Moody wrote about the the young, white John McCain volunteer who, as he summarized it, "says she was mugged at an ATM machine in Pittsburgh ... by a big black man. She further says he threw her down, then disfigured her by carving the letter B into her face with a sharp implement when he saw that she supported McCain, not Barack Obama."
If true, he opined, some voters "may revisit their support" for Obama "because they suddenly feel they do not know enough about the Democratic nominee."
But, he added, "If the incident turns out to be a hoax, Sen. McCain’s quest for the presidency is over, forever linked to race-baiting."
Well, in fact, the obviously disturbed 20-year-old woman made the whole thing up, it was revealed Friday.
As a result, we thought maybe Moody would decide he was just a tad hyperbolic in his first take on the matter. But apparently not; no update has appeared on Fox Forum.
So there you have it: A Fox News honcho has declared the presidential race over, with McCain the loser.
While perusing the blog, one Friday posting caught our eye -- a brief plug for an interview that Fox's Neil Cavuto conducted on the collapsing economy. His guest: that noted financial expert, rocker Ted Nugent, holding forth with his prescriptions for turning this mess around.
Seriously. We can attest to it, having seen the tete-a-tete live. Every fair, balanced and totally off-the-wall minute of it.
We can only assume that Joe the Plumber was already booked.

It was an Elitist-American who supposedly attacked the youg Republican campaigner. The term is derived from the Republican code word for black.
By the way, is noone going to mention that the letter B scrawled on her face was backwards? This is what the result would be if you wrote on your face while looking at a mirror.... and had the IQ of a Republican campaign worker.
Rest assured, even with her confession, there will still be many many Republicans who will blame Elitist-Americans as though the attack really happened. Of course they aren't racist because they use the word elitist instead of black.

I guess this Fox thing isn't a whole lot different than the subtle mudsmearing that the Time's reporting staff engages in as they do hatchet jobs on Sarah Palin. You guys must be deathly afraid of the McCain Palin ticket because nearly every story has a negative slant.

It's refreshing to see someone actually hold FOX accountable for its own words. Where is the shame for polluting the national discourse with televised hate? Like some vestige of an Orwellian nightmare FOX spews its negativity, presumably reflective of its control freak founder (the pinstriped pirate) Rupert Murdoch's personal biases, ignorance and racist beliefs. FOX is the offical media outlet for FEAR INCORPORATED. The latter, previously known colloquially as the GOP, has just about run out of lies to tell as the generation of know nothings it spawned have matured to the point of changing the channel, if recent Nelson ratings are any indicator of reality. God Bless MSNBC for slaying that dragon, and God Bless everyone that has stood up to the insanity of its propaganda flood, if only to hold it to its own low standard.

Speaking of Joe the Plumber, did you know he's decided to run for congress?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Samuel Joe Wurzelbacher's campaign confrontation over tax with Democratic White House hopeful Barack Obama has been seized on by Republican John McCain, who has made the issue a centrepiece of his campaign during the final week of the race.
But now Joe the Plumber has bowed to growing pressure from grassroots Republicans in his home state of Ohio to consider launching his own campaign.
Mr Wurzelbacher told conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham that he is thinking of challenging Democratic Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur in her Toledo area seat in 2010.
Wow!, The Vice President of Fox News has essentially stated that McCain's race is over, finished .
Very funny though WHY he states this. Because McCain would be "forever linked to race baiting". I'm sure he totally believed this too. But he is forgetting that the rest of the world does not think like Faux News. Notice how there is no one saying that it was race baiting. Now if things were switched around, you KNOW that Fox News would have been 24 and 7 saying that it was race baiting.
The words posted by John Moody will not easily be forgotten. Fox and Druge are trying to bury the story since it slings the mud right back in their faces. The "race baiting" comments about the McCain campain were just an excuse to lay the foundation of doubt in Obama's candidacy. Mr. Moody, so shall you reap what you sow. Your words were meant to fan racisim.
John Moody has not made a blog post since. Either he's in hiding in embarrassment or Fox News told him to shut up.
