On the convention floor, the excitement grows for Sarah Palin's arrival

ST. PAUL -- Excitement is already beginning to mount in the convention hall for the arrival at tonight's podium of the first female ever on a Republican presidential ticket. All of the men in the 114-member Florida delegation, gentlemen all, have given their floor passes to the women in their lives. The first female candidate ever on a Republican presidential ticket Alaska Governor Sarah Palin

Their spouses, daughters and other women now sit in the official delegation seats so that they can all rise as one to salute Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin when she arrives shortly to give her speech at the Republican National Convention.

As 35-year-old Jennifer Samuels, a Miramar homemaker standing in for her husband, explained, "She's very human. And I think a lot of women relate to that."

Like tonight's speakers, many of the delegates blamed members of the media for what they consider unfair initial coverage of Palin and her family.

Arlene Krings, an interior decorator from Fairway, Kan., complained that liberals in the press "ridiculed" Palin's pregnant teenage daughter, Bristol.

"I believe the only two groups that attack children are terrorists and liberals," she said.

L.A. Times, you fell right into the trap! The word Republicans in the inner circle are urging everyone to use is "exciting." You can't move a yard on the convention floor without hearing "excited," "excitement," etc.

Remember when Scott McClellan's book came out, and the word was "puzzle?" As in, "we're puzzled as to
why Scott would do this" and "Scott is certainly a puzzle" etc.

These are people who rely on one-word flashcards, as Jon Stewart has proved beyond the shadow of a doubt.

Lol. The last line of that article is sooo true. But the real truth is they need to find something to attack her with so mccain doesn't win the elections.Liberals are soo fake and the only time they will pretend to do something good is if it helps put money in their pockets. I hope Sarah and McCain go all the way and win.
Obama better watch out she is gonna kick his butt.
GO SARAH!

Sarah Palin has shown her nasty streak today.

IT TURNS ME OFF THAT SHE USED PERSONAL ATTACKS AGAINST BARACK OBAMA. She mocked him, saying that he wanted to part the waters and save the world.

This is NASTY, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNBECOMING A PUBLIC OFFICIAL, AND OFFPUTTING.

Palin Power!!!

She did what Hillary Clinton wished she could do... and that was, to put Barack Obama in perspective. The old boys at the DNC kept holding Hillary back by telling her to "play nice".

Well, no one's telling Sarah Palin what to do! She can get one back for you Hillary! She has more balls than Obama and Biden put together.

This is one Hillary supporter who is definitely voting for McCain/Palin!!!

These people are fricken evil. I'm not a radical liberal, but I have common sense, and I care. I have a degree in religion. These people are exact parallels to what Jesus was talking about when he railed against the Pharisees. Agressive self-righteous hypocrites. For everyone's benefit, including their own, they need to be stopped. They've lost all sense of humility.

Hypocrisy of the Grande Old Party

If you grow up in Hawaii you're "exotic." But if you grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, you're the quintessential "American story."

If you name you kid Barack you're "unpatriotic." But if you name your kid Track, you're "colorful."

If you say that for the "first time in my adult lifetime I'm really proud of my country, you are "unfit" to be First Lady. If you are a registered member of a fringe political group know as Alaska Independent Party that advocates secession from US you are fit to be a patriotic "First Dude."

If you are a pregnant black teen, you represent "crisis" in black America. But if you are a pregnant white teen you represent “blessed family values."

If you're a Democrat and make a VP pick without fully vetting the individual you're reckless. But if you a Republican and vet your VP once for 15 minutes you are a maverick.

If you are a female democratic and complain about sexism, you are a whiner. But if you are a female republican, you are being subjected to sex-discrimination.

When major public and community accomplishment of Hillary were discussed she was considered as a divisive person. But when the minute accomplishments of Sarah are described, she is considered as a work horse reformer.

If you are democrat female running for a high office you are considered s rebel. But if you are republican you are considered as historical.

If any woman has five kids she is called a stay home or non-professional minded mom. But if a republic woman has five kids she is called a pro-life feminist.

Ugly angry republicans on the GOP: so many dirty speeches in the same way as your role model Rush Limbaugh who wrote the true patriotic sentence about hurricane Gustav : "Jindal dashes Democrat dreams of destruction." This is the way you want to united our country! And this with your republican slogan: Country first! as if we are not patriotic! I say just: Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged!

Jane, you are wrong on two counts regarding the AIP. First Sarah Palin was never a "registered member", and second it is not unpatriotic to uphold the constitutionally protected right of a State to reverse its decision to join the Union - i.e. to secede.

You should instead be complaining against David Rockefeller's Council on Foreign Relations, of which Obama is a member, whose North American Union agenda is equivalent to having the entire COUNTRY secede from itself!

I've never yet voted for a democrat (and still might not this time), but I really think that much as I like McCain, he really made a mistake with Palin. Obama is a decent guy too and I thought her attacks were mocking and petty. Her credentials are so thin that it makes us look bad when she swaggers out like she's some sort of expert. I found it to be in bad taste. I still like McCain, but it's getting tougher to vote for him.

Not bad for delivering a speech written by a handler, after receiving a day's worth of intensive coaching by handlers. Not bad at all.

Andrew MalcolmAndrew Malcolm's immigrant parents repeatedly stressed the importance of active participation in a democracy. Early lessons included learning the alphabetical list of states by watching televised roll calls of national political conventions. That childhood exposure led to a lifelong fascination with politics, including 40-plus years of covering them and a brief stint practicing them as press secretary to Laura Bush in 1999-2000. A veteran foreign and national correspondent, Malcolm served on the Times Editorial Board and was a Pulitzer finalist in 2004. He is the author of 10 nonfiction books and father of four.
