Sarah Palin lauds Tina Fey, perhaps because she didn't hear a word of 'SNL' skit

Sarah Palin, in a Q&A with Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity that airs tonight, stands by her man -- John McCain -- in the recent dust-up over his comment about the “fundamentals” of the economy.

And, just as he has since (in the view of most) ill-advisedly uttering that remark, she doesn't mince words in discussing the turmoil that has rocked Wall Street this week. Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin answers questions from Fox News Channel's Sean Hanniity

But Hannity elicits perhaps the most intriguing answer from Palin when he wraps up the first of two interview segments by asking if she had seen Tina Fey unveil her satirical impersonation of the Republican vice presidential nominee on this past weekend's "Saturday Night Live."

Our own Dish Rag blog had reported Tuesday that Palin, who was on a campaign plane at the time, had watched and, through a spokeswoman, declared it "quite funny, particularly because she once dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween."

Palin elaborates for Hannity: She watched, but she didn't listen. That's because she had "the volume all the way down." Later, she reiterates: "Again, didn't hear a word she said..."

Still, she offers a rave: "I thought it was hilarious. I thought she was spot on."

The resemblance between the two is, of course, remarkable -- and apparently enough to regale Palin. But one can't help but wonder if the Alaska governor would have offered the "hilarious" plaudit if she had heard the comedian's words.

There were barbs aplenty aimed at getting laughs, such as the Fey/Palin take on the cause of global warming: "I believe it's just God hugging us closer."

Time magazine's the Page blog has numerous excerpts from Palin's chat with Hannity (though not her review of the "SNL" routine).

Tina Fey's funny, and the majority of viewers take her schtick, as the "Sarah Palin" look-a-like, with the humorous grain of salt -- I think these kinds of skits are a great complement to the person that is being targeted -- I think Sarah Palin is a good sport and demonstrated it by passing it off as the joke it is... Everyone should know by know that SNL is sold out to Barry Obama and they can only do more good than harm by expressing their choice for him, and dig at the "other-gal." So, lighten up and enjoy it the way Sarah did, she obviously has the most experience as a Chief Executive and the more I hear from her, the more I like her.

Peace

Seems like her approach to everything--watching without the sound. That explains SO much.

Hm ...

Watches her impersonation, but with the sound off.

Sure.

And Clinton didn't inhale ...

DIDO what he said!

" So, lighten up and enjoy it the way Sarah did, she obviously has the most experience as a Chief Executive and the more I hear from her, the more I like her."

Hmmmm...

If you spend 3 years as a community organizer growing your organization from a staff of 1 to 13 and your budget from $70,000 to $400,000, then become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new African American voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, then spend nearly 8 more years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, becoming chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, then spend nearly 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of nearly 13 million people, sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, some say is woefully inexperienced.

If you spend 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, then spend 20 months as the governor of a state with 650,000 people, then you've got the most executive experience of anyone on either ticket, are the Commander in Chief of the Alaska military and are well qualified to lead the nation should you be called upon to do so because your state is the closest state to Russia.

When Katie Couric interviews Sarah Palin false fingernails will fly. If Couric can nail Palin (and thus sink McCain) she'll be the next Woodward & Berstein. She'll be able to dine out on how she got Palin for the next 20 years. The network will give her a $20 million raise. Couric won't look down her nose at Palin like Charles Gibson did. She won't have to. She'll just ask the same question about Plain's emails five times in a row.

Sarah Palin watched herself parodied on a nationally televised television show, and had the sound off? I don't believe her. Had she admitted to hearing the script, she would have opened herself up to questions about the content.

If her story is true, there is no wonder they don't want her talking. The woman is an idiot if she is indeed that incurious.

n a few weeks we will make a choice that will decide our future.
This time the stakes are much higher then most people could imagine
I would like to point out some things You may already know with a new perspective.

I follow a economist named bob proctor who has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown ,and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years
Is terrifying. He thinks it could get worse then the great depression.
Banks in the US are going under one after the other. Country wide the largest morgage bank in the world
Bear Stearns and Lehman brothers , and Merrill Lynch which are 3 out of the top 5 wall street firms.
And now Fanny and Freddy which hold 50 percent of the home loans in the United States.

The goverment took them over because they are essentially bankrupt.
If they didn't the entire financially system would virtually shut down, the stock market would crash
And we would suffer beyond what any of us have seen before
The future of these companies will fall into the hands of our next president
And all of our economic future depends on them reorganizing these companies right.

Lehman, Merill Lynch, and Bear Sterns have survived for over 150 years and survived even the great depression
They are important because the are the biggest engines of growth in america and
they are connected to almost everything.
The last time the real estate market numbers looked this bad was during
The great depression and real estate often leads the way into major economic recessions.

One out of 10 Americans is somewhere in the foreclosure process.
During the last 8 years the average person saw there salary drop instead
Of increase. These are all facts no one will argue with.
The truth is we are only in the start of the worst economy we have seen in our generation
and a very real possibility of another depression.

Bush just like Mcain doesn't understand the economy.
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it
He does not understand exactly what is broken. Its no surprise that he doesnt. The people that make up these
securities use complex math models very few people understand.
They are basically bundles of thousand of loans some good and some bad that are then given rules based on quantitiative
math. It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this, and the same things bush and mcain have done for the last 8 years
Have not worked so far and wont work in the future.

If you do what you have always done then you will do get what you have always __________
90 percent of the time they have voted the same.

Please don't just take my word for it Start to read up on some of this yourself. MSN money, elliot wave and, bloomberg
Have tons of articles That prove we are in the heading into one of the worst economies any one has ever seen.

So why are the polls even close then ?

The chairman of mcains campaign recently said that people don't vote on issues
they vote on a personality composite which means. He is trying to sell personality instead
of results.

He believes people will vote against there own self interests.
Lets teach him we are smarter then that and elect the ticket that can
bring us back from the brink of a economic abyss.
If you think i am kidding do your own home work you will find
We are at the start of this mess not the end.

Mcain admits in the year 2008 he cannot use a computer even to send email
Its almost impossible then he will understand the complex securities such as cdos that are destroying wall street
and the home values on your street.

We are not bulletproof america it time to wake up and hold these people accountable.

How many people that you go out and have drinks with would you really want running the country?
Lets stand up and fight for our country now while it will still make a difference
Lets elect Obama Biden 08

When sarah Palin is through with katie couric. Katie will ask herself what hit her. Palin will show up katie and make katie look down

emails and photos of your children being hacked and circulated on the web....DIRTY tricks by the democrats...what if they went after obamas little angels...I am sure the Palin family can make it. Heck if her daughter had the courage to tell the folks she was pregnant this family can handle anything the jealous mans campaign can dish out. I hope change is coming via the lady from Alaska. She has common sense...she know what it is to work and she does it for the right reason as McCain has all his life. Obama has ads that he has never sent an email...the reason he is physically unable as a result of FIGHTING for our Country. A country where One should show respect by placing your hand over your heart during OUR National Anthem. Is Obama unable to show this type of respect because he served one to many freebies. I hope the winds dont blow where Obama calls out to his god and fellow muslims and we suffer and fall from the inside. Just a thought

God save America from Barrack Obama and Nancy Pelosi. It will be an America of no experience at the top, no oil, no God and yes, playing the race card!

Why won't you take her at her word? if she said she didn't hear anything, than perhaps you should just believe her. She's an idiot b/c she had the show on in the background, while she did something different? C'mon, it's not like this woman hasn't experience the limelight before! She's a Governor! If you or I had been on SNL, of course we'd have the volume up, but in her case it's not unbelievable that she didn't. Lighten up!

Sarah Palin is tougher than anything the bias liberal press or the Dems can throw at her! I hope that we don't find out that attended Rev. Wright's church for twenty yars, because the main stream press will crucify her for that!

How very strange! She was watching SNL with the volume down. Hhmmmmmmm. And, she thought it was hilarious! I really got to try that sometime when I am watching Leno or Letterman during their monologues. I just might find it funnier. But really and seriously, I doubt it. I think she was not being truthful on such a simple matter. She does not show a lot of character. What is she afraid of? Yes, it's satire toward her, but her strategies to deflect it or confront it is lacking. She is a rookie.

"Sarah Palin is tougher than anything the bias liberal press or the Dems can throw at her! I hope that we don't find out that attended Rev. Wright's church for twenty yars, because the main stream press will crucify her for that!"

There is a thing called the "recent past," in which Barack Obama was on the cover of Time, Newsweek, et al for quite awhile getting hammered over Wright and other things during the primaries. Palin wasn't known then. Now it's her turn. Barack attended a church with a minister with questionable views. But he never stood on stage as Palin did and made bizarre statements like how state infrastructure was God's will. If you saw a news clip of Taliban soldiers talking about how a road was God's will... Come on. Get real. Palin needs to be dissected on this. So far, her religious views may represent the honorable Reverend Hagee--they don't represent me or most of the people in this country.

Why do republicans feel it's only dems that totally disagree with John McBush and Palin? Republicans are pissed with McBush and his "country first" VP pick. Just watching McBush give speeches pains me deeply. Absorbing the absolutely comical rhetoric being spewed by the super deregulator turned superman of change is an utter side-splitter. McBush's only economic experience is constantly repeating, "the economic fundamentals are sound", "the economic fundamentals are sound", "the economic fundamentals are sound". Wow, just typing it that many times has made me a believer also - I think I'll go to a bank and apply for a mortgage now.

Sarah shows shes a good sport by saying Tina Fey
did a good job. She even said it was hilarious. Shes definitely smart to say the sound was turned down. If any of you would be in her shoes you would have said the same thing because if you did say you heard it,you know you would have to listen to hateful putdowns just as she would have to.
Its really something how most liberals hate her for what she stands for..fighting for country and the people in it, love of babies and people of all ages and respect for things that are basicaly good, not spewing hate...I guess that people who dont feel like that...well..I guess it just must grate on the nerves.

Sarah was a great sport! She can roll with the punches and knows there are more important things in life than a jab by Tina Fey. Of course it was funny. I don't see any reason she should have turned up the volume...why? Like SNL is some sort of super show everybody HAS to watch? LOL
Sarah is going to be a GREAT VP!!

McCain/Palin '08!!!!

We thought it was hilarious too, which is why we added it to our list of women who have taken a stance against Palin: http://www.canow.org/canoworg/2008/09/we-arent-the-on.html

SNL is worth ignoring...they have been irrelevant for so long. Palin is just staying above the fray. If she complained then you all would criticize that as well.

If professional investment banks, full of supposedly educated professionals can't even determine value with their derivative investments do you seriously think Obama "the chosen one" would have been insightful enough to avert disaster. This economic crisis has been 10 to 15 years in the making....covering multiple administrations. There will be debt liquidation, but the credit markets are plenty broad with plenty of solvent creditors. Seriously people get a grip...

Maybe the Obama can take some of the $845 billion he wants to peel off for the Global Poverty Act to feather the nest of 3rd world tyrants and keep it here to help deal with these bailouts.

The more this Democrat watches Palin the more she loves her.

I think it's hilarious how the Obama people want to attack her experience, when clearly PALIN has MORE EXPERIENCE than Obama.

Our nation has so many issues right now, the last thing we need is to hand it over to Obama the least experienced candidate in American History. That would be like asking for a third Bush term.

So my family will join the MILLIONS OF DEMOCRATS AGAINST OBAMA and vote NO OBAMA in November.

Just a couple of little comments.
First to DesignMission; Obama did not sponsor 131 bills. In fact he has contributed very little to anything in the Senate. Experience aside, the fundamental, and most important difference between the two, is that Palin believes in the democratic principles that have nurtured the growth of the United States since the beginning. Obama believes in the socialist/communist way of government that removes power from the people and places it into the hands of the government who decides what is best for you and then takes your money, and your freedom and your voice, to do with as they see fit.

And for John; McCain predicted the downfall of the housing/loan industry to the exact details 3 years ago. Also, McCain doesn't do email because his injuries keep him from typing, not because he is too stupid to figure it out.

The only people who would survive an Obama presidency with their finances intact would be those that he puts on the government hand-out for me to support. His chief financial advisors are the men who led Lehman and AGI. . .?? Yeah, those would be the people to take financial advice from.

My money is on the guy who said he will put an end to sending billions of dollars to other countries for no reason at all, not on the guy who plans to create enough programs to drown us in debt forever.

I believe that Palin didn't listen to the SNL parody, otherwise she wouldn't have found it to be funny. What is more frightening than her possibly lying about the sound, is she voluntarily chose not to hear it. How dumb is that? If someone was doing a skit on me, I would certainly want to know what was being said. I would want to be able to joke about it with others and defuse the comments. The more I learn about Palin, the more scared I am for our country. She appears to have a "head in the sand" mentality, just like those who want to vote for her, since they apparently ignore the blatant lies she keeps making.

Sarah lives a life according to what she believs is right. You may not agree with he but you know she is trustworthy and consistent & patriotic.

Obama on the other hand is a fake & traitor.
He claims US is in recession/depression beause of Bush but he got rich when Bush is President. He talks about how everyone is suffering, but goes to LA Fund raising for a big party more than $2500 per head (hardly a recession??).
In Iraq he told the Iraqi goverment not to agree with Bush on withdrawal of troops. What he wants is wither American be defeated or killed.
He claims himself a christian. But Kadafi says he is a muslims. Anyway do a true christian abort babies or believe God is dead and cannot take chrage of the planet & universe?

McCain-Palin 08.

Lost on Palin-apologists:

The Tina Fey skit wasn't funny because SNL secretly admires her and is really "helping her win." It is funny because there is truth to it. I laughed equally as hard when SNL parodied Campbell Brown and Co. when they fawned shamelessly over Obama. Because it was true.

The SNL skit was funny because everyone can believe that Hillary probably really is annoyed that she had to go to Ivy League colleges and spend decades in public service to get her respect, but Palin is in by virtue of being young, hot, and some kind of Annie Oakley. I laughed because I believe Amy Poehler is a very good Hillary, and since Hillary is too classy to say it, Amy has to. I really felt like Amy was channeling Hillary.

Palin is easy to parody because it IS such a blatant attempt to attempt to replace a woman as accomplished as Hillary with a young, attractive woman who has little experience. And the many ways the GOP is trying to cover by reminding people that Obama is inexperienced just proves this point. And of course, we wouldn't even be having this conversation if Palin WAS experienced.

I am so honestly disgusted that the american people are so stupid. This ignorant woman is the govoner of ALASKA????? how many people live in Alaska of course she has "approval rating of 98 % " really?. Any grown adult woman who isnt intelligent enough to recognize that having a child in ones late forties is risky and selfish is not fit to be VP, much less a mother. Then to ; with a smile demonstrate how to raise a special needs child....or to have a nanny raise them . The blindness of my fellow citizens makes me want to close my eyes and pray to a god that wont allow the american sickness to prevail.....

Some people are not very good at reading between the lines. Whether she had the sound on or not, it's pretty clear she was not happy about it.

God she even feels the need to lie about something as small and unimportant as watching the show. This woman is utterly dishonest. Why on earth would she watch it with the sound off? And IF for some screwed up reason she did in fact watch it with the sound off, would she actually have found it remotely funny, let alone 'hilarious'?
She is obviously full of it. Its obvious she saw the thing with the volume on, told the press she found it was funny, then McCain's people called it sexist, so she had to pretend that she didn't hear the content at the risk of making the McCain camp (or herself) seem silly since she said she wasn't offended by it and instead found it rather funny.
The funny thing is, she probably didn't really even find it funny to begin with (I'm guessing she WAS offended), she just told her spokesperson to tell the press she enjoyed it so she would seem more down to earth.
Lets not even talk about whether she is qualified or not, this woman is INCREDIBLY dishonest.

Dear John, (post sep17 6:24pm)

If you really think about how our government is set up you might realize that the president, no matter who is on the seat, does not really impact the economy and our society as much at the Congress wants you to believe. They hide behind the one person in the oval office and blame him for all that they do. They are the law makers in this country, and now the judicial branch is making laws illegally. I think that the American people should make a bigger deal about who they elect to congress than they do to the presidential seat.
As for our economy, the only thing that will begin to change is when the average american starts to believe in the old system of "don't spend more than what you have." Why don't credit card companies get any of the blame? They are the ones handing out cards to people who have no business using one. The lending banks should take some blame too for giving big loans to people who they knew would have trouble meeting their debt. The Americans who went into debt over their head wanting everything that the advertiser said they must have are to blame more than any president. Personal responsiblility as a citizen of the United States is obviously not taught in school or the home anymore. Maybe the blame should start falling at the feet of the real responsible ones- each individual who lives in this country, and not the one who is expected to bail them out.
By the way, you would sound so much more intelligent if you knew the proper usage of there, their, and they're
"During the last 8 years the average person saw there salary drop instead" (that would be t h e i r) "He believes people will vote against there own self interests." (that would also be their).
No one man is going to fix this county, it's time that the average american begin to make different choices. Simple ecomomics...don't spend more than you have, especially on non essentials. Tough times have come for every generation since the begining ...this generation doesn't want to sacrifice and live within their means. Maybe if that would change on the front line things would change up in the office too.

The libs are in full crack-up mode. Palin can't do or say anything without you having snarky little fits. I thought the imitation was pretty funny, although Fey is an insufferably smug Lib in the tank for Barry Obama.

The Sara Palin SNL opening was spot on. SNL at its best ! This is called PARODY folks, the reason its funny is because it reflects much of the reality of Hillary and Sara.

I'm not partison, in fact I'm an independant but the Dems are running scared because Palin is bright, articulate and tough and people relate to her. She actually HAS a record of accomplishment, of standing up and doing something rather than speculating and saying what she might be able to do or wants to do. She has already done it so these are no empty promises from her !

And finally, she is a real person, with a working class background, and a real family dealing with real every day issues. After seeing her in action, seeing her speeches, interviews as well as the town hall meeting last night, she can stand on her own two feet and answer the tough questions without hesitation and without a teleprompter !. She doesnt need to hem & haw while trying to make up her responses to fit her audience. She is sharp & tough and dedicated . Mc Cain surprised everone by choosing Sara, I doubt he could have made a better choice !

Obama made a blunder choosing Biden. He IS one of the good old boys, a long time Washington insider who has been bought & paid for by lobyests for years. He is also very arrogant and condesending. Attacking Sara Palin as he did was a major mistake resulting in a huge backlash. Obama had to call off his dogs very quickly.

I was actually an Obama supporter until I started learning about his mentors and his voting record and how many votes he has missed. I'ts all in the congressional record so check it out for yourself. And while you are at it check out Sara Palin, John McCain and Joe Bidon's recored as well !

It's all public information to help you make informed choices .

"...I think it's hilarious how the Obama people want to attack her experience, when clearly PALIN has MORE EXPERIENCE than Obama...

...So my family will join the MILLIONS OF DEMOCRATS AGAINST OBAMA and vote NO OBAMA in November.

Posted by: maria | September 17, 2008 at 10:25 PM "

So Maria, are you racist or sexist? Because it seems that Palin stands for absolutely nothing either Obama or Hillary stood for and for absolutely everything the hardcore neo-cons want.

So this means you're either voting for Palin purely because she's a woman, or you're voting against Obama purely because he's (part) black.

Besides, if we're talking about leadership experience, W has 8 years of leadership experience. See where that got us? If THAT is what passes for leadership experience, give me Obama's track record of SUCCESS any day.

The neocons in charge want you to vote with your heart. Given this economy and these times, it might be time to vote with your head instead.

It's so odd to me that so many commenters either missed or just choose to gloss over the point here:
Palin watched with THE SOUND OFF and then claims it was hilarious.

She watched it while the airplane was flying. Stop and think - we all know that an airplane's running engine drowns out other sounds. Be fair, will ya?

JERRY, YOU'RE THE ONE WHO IS AN IDIOT BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT GOOD COMPOSURE IS. KILLING THEM WITH KINDNESS IS ONE THING YOU WILL NEVER KNOW BECAUSE THE WORD KINDESS DOESN'T EXIST IN YOUR VOCABULARY. SARAH IS A VERY KIND-HEARTED PERSON, BUT SHE WON'T SHOW ANGER AND HATRED TO THE PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO MASSACRE HER CHARACTER BECAUSE SHE IS A DIGNIFIED CHARACTER, AND SOMEOME WHO IS FROM GOD, NOT FROM THE OTHER SIDE LIKE THE DEMOCRATS WHO SPREAD HATRED AND UNHAPPINESS BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY UNHAPPY PEOPLE. AND YOU KNOW WHY, YOU GUYS PATRONIZE THINGS THAT ARE WRONG. THAT'S WHY MOST OF YOU HAVE A MESSY LIFE.

Watched it but didn't listen? Is that the new "smoked but didn't inhale." I don't/didn't believe either one.

Orn -- that's right on target! She's obviously lying again. Funny, I actually went to post the exact thing you posted, then I saw your post!

It's moronic to say you watched a parody of yourself on saturday night live, but didn't listen to it. Whoever fed her the response to that thinks that America is full of idiots.

My My Teresa Don't you know using capitals is yelling? You have to yell because you make no sense at all. You rant about people who disagree with Palin as though we are all the same.. Trust me we are not all the same. But we can recognize when ignorance and popularity are parading as experience.

wow, I want a woman in the White House- but women, please- this is not what you want- she may kill it for anyone else ever again. I am a democrat but actually liked her first speech- but right away I could see why they chose her- now we see why they shouldn't have- we could talk about this all week but you can't meet someone once and then make her your VP- somebody who just goat her passport a year ago- who can deliver speeches but not answer questions or who didn't even know what the VP does- the country is a mess and you want to tell us we're IDIOTS? Stolen election followed by fear-filled election followed by lies- and now this? I didn't think it could get worse! STOP IT- please. sorry- I just wrote as it came ... I'm going to go run for an hour now! I need it!!!
PS.Palin, turn you TV up- you might learn something- can't believe I am actually telling a human being that!

Palin got Obama and Biden at hello. The spin doctors are still keeping her in the headlines because she is strong and able to do the job as vice president. NYTimes etc. are doing her a favor.

What happened to Obama's thin resume and his ties to Rezko who is now talking to the Feds, and why isn't that of concern to all you Democrats? I voted for Obama to the Senate but will never support him again.

We women get it. Hope the rest of you O blah ma's will soon.

I read all the comments. For a campaign that doesn't want it based on race, the Dems bring it up everytime someone mentions that will not vote for Obama. My Christian beliefs can not allow me to vote for this man. By the way, beign a Christian means in believing in the one true God above, not the other gods

regardless of whom your voting for, if you voted for George W. Bush; please do everyone a favor and don't vote this time. Obviously, you can not make good voting decisions, but because stupidity isn't a felony, i urge you to use some self restraint.
