Sarah Palin discusses what it means to live close to Russia
Sarah Palin, who actually bantered with reporters today, also got a chance to elaborate on her past remarks that Alaska's proximity to Russia qualifies as a foreign policy credential.
The Republican vice presidential contender was quizzed in the second segment of her sit-down with CBS anchorwoman Katie Couric, which airs tonight on the network's evening news show. And the CBS public relations department was provided an advance clip of that exchange (along with some promos):
[Update: Our friend Frank James at the Swamp offers his take on this matter, focusing on one aspect of Palin's response.]

wow...that's all I can say to this clip. This woman is not prepared to be vice president at all. I've tried giving her the benefit of the doubt, but when I listen to her, I can't help but cringe at the things she says. The thing is, if she wasn't so scripted, maybe we would hear more interesting responses.
The fact that she is trying to qualify her argument
that Alaska's proximity to Russia makes her somehow qualified to deal with foregin policy is laughable and only highlights her lack of understanding.
Sarah, I wish I could feel more confident in your qualifications, but I just don't and these interviews aren't really helping.

I'm appalled. She's stumbling over her words and barely making sense. No wonder she's only done 3 interviews. She's an embarrassment to women.
