Holy Limbaugh! Sarah Palin turns Rush to mush over the McCain ticket
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- We knew that last night's boffo speech to the Republican National Convention here by newly minted vice presidential nominee Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was a huge hit inside the house. The Tic
ket covered that many ways last night.
And there's a video of her speech highlights below.
But now comes rush word that Rush Limbaugh --that's right, the Rushman, El Rushbo, the Rusher, who's been the self-appointed voice of broadcast conservatism to his many millions of faithful listeners -- has also been less than enthusiastic about the GOP presidential candidacy of Sen. John McCain.
But today, Sept. 4, 2008, a day that will go down in the annals of political history as one of the all-time greatest show biz flip-flops, Rush has fallen in love with Gov. Sarah.
As noted by The Page's Mark Halperin, in his broadcast today Limbaugh said this:
I did not want that to end last night ... I didn’t want the night to end. I didn’t want Rudy to stop. What a night! Folks, we have a future beyond November here. Regardless what happens.... The convention has been unified on the basis of conservatism. Properly executed, beautifully articulated.
Believe me, Barack Obama has a lot to fear today and he knows it ... the drive-bys are in panic, the Democrat Party is in panic, the liberal left is in panic ... they do not know who hit them, they do not know how to respond to this.
This lady has turned it all around ... from now on, on this program John McCain will be known as John McBrilliant.
No, really! Rush said that.

...and Pallin's version of "conservatism" is different from George Bush's how exactly? With the lowest approval rating of any President in history how is this version of conservatism going to appeal to the masses? Its just more empty rehetoric from the same ridiculous zelots that have run our county into the ground over the past 8 years. Her hype doesn't translate into anything other than McSame.

Sure would be nice if Palin had the guts to do even a single interview.
Who is she? What does she believe? The only thing I know about her is she has serious family problems and is sarcastic and negative.

So, I listened to Palin's speech, but I really had trouble stomaching it. To characterize a harvard law grad, the first black president of harvard law review, current senator and previously a state senator as a mere 'community organizer' was pretty disgusting to me. In the Dem speeches, McCain was always given respect. That's the problem with Republicans - they lack respect for their opponents and their rhetoric only serves to divide the country in the future - for whomever wins the presidency. Oh - and Palin wants to teach creationism in our public schools and would have the government force teenage girls, even in cases of rape or incest, to carry a fetus full term. This is in addition to being investigated for firing a commissioner who refused to fire her ex-brother in law from the state police as well as trying to fire the Wasalia librarian because she didn't want to ban books from the local library...
That's why no one in good conscience, should vote for McCain - what a pandering, 'gimmicky' choice he made! in the words of Peggy Noonan and Co.'s off-air comments...

The REAL reason why McCain picked Palin:

She acted like exotic dancer to elivate the hormon in Republican party what will happen after the hormon subsides.

Everyone I've talked with today, from the grocery clerks to my two physicians, told me that they though Palim was great and that she spoke from her heart; that that was not a speech written for her. She really was a hit with everyone I know. Way to go
McCain & Palim 08
Palim & ? 12

Yeah, the fact that Rush loved it should tell you something... I think Americans will see the convention as a bunch of rabid idiots clamoring for the blood of anyone "so liberal" as to have an abortion after they get raped.

I don't want to compete with emerging global superpowers with a retarded inbred hick family at the helm.

The speech was written for her. She added the hockey mom stuff, husband and children stuff. Just weeks ago she didn't have a clue about Iraq and her son is leaving for Iraq. This is a angry woman, far, far, far to the right.
She's so far to the right conservatives shook as she spoke. It's the nuts like Rush that enjoys 40 minutes of lies. She's so dumb she didn't know they were lies. Women of America please don't let this ruin it for our girls. She's a loud mouth with a skirt. She's not qualified.
She's been studying the speech for three days. She is an embarrassment to Kay Bailey and Hillary. Vote for Obama and let McBush go home and we will continue to honor his service and take a nap. He is a hero for all time but those ideas and strategies from Viet Nam are not going to work. He can't have a temper tantrum and scare anyone except maybe Cindy. She appears fragile and scared all of the time. Cindy couldn't possibly like this woman, she's rude, silly, and a nut. What was that she was wearing? The Bushes even looked embarrassed.
If Laura Bush gave that speech it would have gone over far more effectively because we respect her and loathe this Annie Oakley. VOTE OBAMA.BIDEN.

I guess we were quick to cover up the comments of conservative women like Peggy Noonan and Dr Laura. Both are very much disgusted by the candidate. I guess its more important for the media to do all it can to make the republicans seem solidified when in reality they are split. Ron Paul easily demonstrated that the 1st night.
on the other side of the coin there is the non stop fabrication of a democratic split. Once again this only demonstrates the fact of conservative media bias

The Dems have to respect the Rebublicans but there isn't a Dem out there that deserves respect in return !! The Dem's just hate that they're getting beat at their own game.

I've been interested to see how Rush would manage to perform an about face with regard to the McCain ticket ever since he secured the nomination. I figured it might come in the form of a conspicous level of enthusiasm for the vp candidate, regardless of who they were or what merit they could claim. I guess now Rush is free to become the McCain campaigns best bud, despite the vitriol he's directed at it up til Palins introduction.

John - Obama's the one who referred to Governor Palin as the mayor of a small town, while responding to the attacks on his executive credentials by referring to his community organizer position. The message from him was that his executive credentials as community organizer were greater than hers as mayor. This was a response to that - her mayoral position was greater than his community organizer position, even if that's all he wants to give her credit for.
Palin does not want creationism taught in public schools, although she at least does send her own kids to them, unlike certain others. Where's your original source to back this up? (Don't point to another rumor monger, please, but an actual, verifiable source). Little Green Footballs, a very acerbic rightwinger who's more anti-creationist than he is anti-liberal (and that's saying something!) has run this to ground already.
The person she wanted fired was an alleged wifebeater who tasered a prepubescent boy so he'd know what it felt like. You think he deserves a job? Good for you.
Greg - Palin's version of conservatism will hopefully include actual conservatism. A lot of the conservative base is pretty ticked off at Bush's NCLB and economic stimulus checks. McCain's version of conservatism wouldn't have stayed the course for about two years there, having run the surge earlier (when it might not have worked as well as it did, but at least he wouldn't have kept trying the same dumb strategy). By the way, "Run the country into the ground?" How? By passing Biden's bills that caused the credit crunch? (You know his son works for MBNA, right?) By decreasing unemployment over Clinton?

Liberal just don't get it. What Rush said was in the content of a republican conservative.
Liberals are trying to smeer anyone that hurts thier agenda & Obama to them is thier messiah.
Sorry democrats...sorry liberals....We have a new gunslinger in town named Sarah Palin. She will shoot back! Thanks Rush for expressing what we conservatives are feeling!!

I rarely blog, but always enjoy reading people's views. I could not let go of the comments by Linda Nickelson. I'm sure she is an otherwise nice person...but to spell Palin's name incorrectly TWICE speaks to the fact that she's not really too bright...AND confirms my belief that ANYONE who would even think of backing McCAIN / Palin in '08, and Palin in '12 just isn't paying attention! You're just not getting it, Linda! If she spoke from her heart, and that speech was not written for her...I promise to vote for McCAIN myself. But I don't think either of us has to worry about me doing that....

hmmm... still no word on the issues. What's up with that?
Republicans are trying to "frame" the election so that we're talking "values".
Obama is working within a frame of issues and offering solutions to the everyday problems facing American families.

It looks like that Palin put all these republican old farts in a state of mental ma******tion. That is pathetic calling her hottie.

I am an indepenedent and I dont untersand this lovefest for Senator Obama. Dont complain about people complaining about his experience. The only experience he has is running his campaign and Axelrod had probably lot more to do with that than him.

I think Rush got into some more meds. Ms. Palin is not only out of touch with her own body but that of her daughter's as well. He wants THAT to run the Country? She is oblivious to science. Who at the age of 44 does not know that it is irresponsible to conceive a child. The chances of down syndrome are astronomical at any age of 35. If she can't make a sound decision about her own body, what will she do with 240 million?

Oh please!
As if he was going to take too many green pills and endorse Obama?
This is a political stunt from a fringe Howard Stern wannabe.
He likes girls that look like Roseanne Barr.

As a Democrat, I thought she did a good job myself.
Now she can start working on her concession speech

No wonder Laughable Limbo is hard of hearing. He's deafened by the sound of his own voice. The jerk rants into the bottom of his sleeve, and then salivates as it blasts out of the top into his ears. Keep it up Jocko....you're only giving intelligent voters another good reason to reject Snotty Sarah.

Ours is a rising tide which will wash away the forces of socialism, mediocracy and eliteism in this country. Those who would seek to destroy liberty in the name of perverse definitions of definition of "equality" and "fairness" should remember that liberty can never be taken as long as the majority of Americans continue to see through the hollow lies and promises of those who promise government largesse in exchange for vows of slavery to Washington.
Go PALIN, go McCain!!! A bas Obama!!!

I sit... quietly... laughing at everyone that has replied in ignorance. Has anybody compared the two sides tactics? It looks to me like a schoolyard fight, slinging mud every chance they get. Palin attacking the almighty Barack? Seems to be more of a defensive act since she had been attacked for a week by the Democrats before she gave her speech.
I just can't believe the ignorance that you people openly display. Just remember, elect Obama and you will definitely have change, only the change will be what's left in your pocket after you pay all of your taxes.
