Obama picked Joe Biden. What do you say? Vote here now

August 23, 2008 |  5:20 am

All right, now's your chance to pass judgment on Sen. Barack Obama's judgment.

How'd he do in picking Sen. Joe Biden as his vice presidential running mate on the Democratic Party ticket?

They haven't even been officially nominated yet. That comes this week in Denver. But why should that stop Ticket readers from voting?

It shouldn't.

So have at it on both questions. And let's see what Ticket readers decide.

Well I can't say I am impressed with the 3a.m. time to do the text message. However, let's see if there will be a "Biden Bounce" in the polls today and which way will it go. The poll above will be interesting to watch as the day goes on. Another real-time, open poll that will be interesting to watch is at http://www.bop-o-ram.com. Team Obama and Team McCain seem to be getting oraganized over there. Here are the current counts to start the day.

Obama 523,304 McCain 300,997

Go teams!

OBAMA BLOWS IT WITH VP PICK!

I think he can be ready, but right now, I don't think he is," Biden told ABC News debate moderator George Stephanopoulos about an Obama Presidency. "The presidency is not something that lends itself to on the job training."

Selecting Joe Biden who voted for the Iraq war, won his job in the Senate over 35 years ago when Obama was only 11, detracts Obama ticket's agent of change, yes and he voted for the IRAQ war, an old guy according to Obama camp during the primaries. His selection removes all attacks Obama camp using against McCain…Bad bad decision…Maybe doing what Uncle Ted told him to do, by letting inexperienced Caroline Kennedy make the VP decision wasn’t such a good idea.

Obama will loose…

Biden dropped out of the 2008 race after a poor finish, but not before he talked dismissively of joining someone else's ticket. "I am not running for vice president," he said in a Fox interview. "I would not accept it if anyone offered it to me. The fact of the matter is I'd rather stay as chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee than be vice president." It was his second try for the White House. The first ended badly in 1988 when he was caught lifting lines from a speech by British Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock. Just like Obama.

VP pick Joe Biden’s known as (“The gaffe machine”) wild mouth managed to run him afoul with Indians, 7-Eleven clerks and African-Americans.

"You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking," he told C-SPAN. "I mean you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean “he enthused. "I mean, that's a storybook man, not a fairy tale??

This ticket has already begun to will draw deep criticism from Democratic voters who support Obama for his stand against the war in Iraq. Now that’s appears not too important to Obama? This guy is a total flip flopping liar. These voters who will never forgive Biden for approving the war anymore than they would forgive President Bush or former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld nor Obama for playing his faithful supporters as fools. It shows Obama have no Plan or direction.

Lastly, Biden DOES NOT put on the table any state on the table to help with electoral vote? With Biden comes the very real risk that his loose lips around reporters will render all sorts of new gaffes and scandals in the coming months that will swamp the Obama campaign's message. McCain camp is jumping up and down for this gift from Obama. http://www.americasright.com/2008/08/obama-sued-in-philadelphia-federal.html

Obama Sued in Philadelphia Federal Court on Grounds he is Constitutionally Ineligible for the Presidency

http://www.americasright.com/2008/08/obama-sued-in-philadelphia-federal.html

He's had his act together since,He was 29!!!!! A true talker and walker, together hopefully they well change the world, for the better. TERENCE L FOOTE BIG HORN,MT,

the choice of biden might also be seen to provide obama's camp with its own share of plagiarism issues (biden's loss of the nomination has been attributed to his theft of a speech authored by neil kinnock of britain's labor party; subsequently numerous additional instances of unauthorized appropriations, some dating back to his law school time, were uncovered). so who will now care if either camp resorts to complete intellectual dishonesty, when both are equally corrupt in this respect also? it is remarkable how these elections represent, the consistent quest for the lowest common denominator.
the legitimate candidate for president, to uphold the constitution and integrity, is RON PAUL.

Great choice! Intelligence, personality, great life story, experience, likeability. The latter characteristic is important, and is completely lacking in McCain. Even his Republican colleagues in the Senate can't stand him.

It's important to focus on the future of our country, now. Obama and Biden need to come out like pit bulls and attack Republican philosophy that government is too inept to provide public financing for roads, schools, hospitals, worker and environmental protection, Social Security and Medicare--in short they'll let the robber barons return in Victorian style. The racist, neo-Nazi Swift Boat financiers get a wink from Republicans, so it's no wonder Obama chose to finance his campaign with unlimited, private contributions. They'll need to money keep the neo-Nazi Swift Boating thugs at bay. Our father's and grandfather's generation fought people like them who thought Jews, Catholics, and people of color were part of a grand conspiracy against the master race.

Perfectly executed decision--and lead up to it--by Obama. Biden is a true blue Democrat, a working person's Democrat. He is also going to whip the living crap out of anyone McCain chooses for VP. Pawlenty? PuhLeeeze. Bring it on!

Will the latter be able to clean the former. Bidet..sorry Biden is very much more a talker than a doer, just like his
new boss. I guess one could say,as a positive comment
that Biden is a better choice than pathetic governor Judas
Hillary was the only acceptable choice....and the Chicago
celebrity's elitist arrogance caused him to again ignore the obvious.

So much for "change." Biden is just another of the good old boys!

Whew, seems I am getting to have it my way. This is the ticket I want. Two people who are tremendously candid and good at the core, intelligent, and Biden adds generational experience and wisdom as wel as the biography of a vital father figure, hammered by life and still fresh and whole in the now. So I feel satisfied but I see that many are holding great preference for Sen. Clinton. If only, only, only they can examine their chances for Supreme Court justices, cabinet members that are holistic and closely aligned with the policies and programs that Clinton favors. Let us go forward together. Your candidate will have a role of czar of healthcare reform if she wants it. If not, she has a forum to contribute in many ways. Despite her intense loyalists and femininst following, the negatives this time were just too many. Consider that she can learn from those and refine her approach and go forward. If you give the White House to John McCain, you will tip the Supreme Court away from choice and equal opportunity for hundreds of years. I don't think that's a feminist agenda.

Obama has just delivered John McCain his dream of becoming president. I had always hoped to see a woman president or at least VP in my lifetime, and now that is impossible. What happened to the "Dream Ticket"? That was the Democrat Party's last hope to regain the presidency, and probably to keep the majority in the Congress and Senate.

In selecting Senator Biden, Senator Obama has validated his excellent judgement as a potential, no, make that future, President. He has also done what he said he would do: select someone who (1) Can be an excellent President, (2) Would challenge him when needed, (3) Shares his style -- Calm, considerate and deliberate, and (4) Complements his Skills and experience, particularly in Foreign Policy. What a delight! I will be able to vote FOR someone as my primary consideration instead of voting against someone who could do great damage to my country as I had to in the past.

What a stupid pick.

First, Biden bashed Obama in the primaries.

Second, Biden helps the ticket --- no where.

Third, Biden has a history of blowing it.

Fourth, Obama had to take the opportunity to stick it to Mrs. Clinton by never even considering her seriously.

Way to go. Sounds like 4 more years of GOP rule.

Couldn't have made a dumber pick. I was a huge fan of Obama -- unitl now. He professes change but picks a guy who's as old school as McCain. Wants to open a dialogue with the rest of he world but picks a VP who's the biggest warmonger on the Dems side beside Hillary, and is an avowed Russophobe.
He caved in to the establishment and industrial military complex before he even got elected.
Gues we better get used to more taxes to fight even bigger wars. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID

Why no mention of Al Gore?

He would have been the most qualified candidate, having served in the role for eight years already.

He would also have been the most popular choice, next to Barack.

(FYI, he says he's done with elected office.)

I am recommending that all Hillary supporters and Obama supporters who are not happy with his choice of VP should either stay home on election day or vote for McCain. I personally am voting for McCain. Obama let us down by not choosing Hillary as his running mate. The party would have been united and this would have guaranteed his win in Nov. Unfortunately his inexperience is apparent in most of his recent decisions and actions. Shame on you Obama for letting America down!!

Very pleased with Obamas selection for Vice President. Senator Joe Biden knows U. S. Government, and Foreign Relations better than anyone I can think of in the D.C. scene. Obama Barack and Joe Biden will be a working team for a better America.

For all the morons who can't get pass the ridiculous superficial stereotypes "He's as old school as McCain," because he's an older white man: You ain't too progressive if you label people based on their age and race anyway.

For your ignorant information Biden has been in the vanguard since day one. Why don't you do a little research into his voting record and legislative history before betraying your ignorance. A long time advocate for women, and a real maverick who has NEVER been afraid to speak truth to power.

The stupidity of Americans is really frightening.

Just so long as it wasn't a Clinton I'm happy - and seeing from the poll ALOT of people are happy with his pic for VP 58% and only 42% for Hell opps I mean Hill.

It would not matter at all who Obama picked. No one who can lift him into the presidency! By picking Biden, all he's doing is emulating George Bush when he picked Cheney, by picking someone older, with experience, who could "work" Washington.

All it does is make it much easier for the "undecided" to decide to vote for John McCain.

Obama supporters say they don't need Hillary's supporters, nor do they need the liberals...he never had the votes of middle America, or women's votes. Now who are they left with? Young voters, elitists and Blacks... hmm, sounds like a winning combination!

Good luck, you're gonna need it!

Great choice to have Biden. He is authentic as opposed to Republicans. He really highlights the difference between having a paranoid presidency (since Nixon) and having one which doesn't have a lot of dirty underwear to show. I originally wanted Hillary but Obama's wisdom belies his years.

Shame on you Joe Biden for your nasty innuendo!
I thought you to be a gentleman! Special needs children
are not a political device!
