Huckabee says he will not be John McCain's vice president

Huckabee_2 Mike Huckabee will not be John McCain's vice presidential running mate.

The former Arkansas governor made the announcement -- not much of a surprise to most political observers -- in a note posted on his website this evening. The news comes as McCain prepares to appear with his pick at a midday rally on Friday in Dayton, Ohio. As we reported earlier today, The Arizona Republican's campaign has confirmed that McCain has decided on his running mate.

Here is an excerpt from Huckabee's note:

There are reports that I’m on my way to Dayton tonight. Not true. Wasn’t invited to be there and any reports that I’m going to be there are a big surprise to me. I have never been contacted by the McCain campaign at any point about the VP slot. I have never been asked for any information, background, etc., so as I have said repeatedly in interviews, I didn’t consider myself to be under any consideration.

Huckabee, who has formed a political action committee (HuckPac) committed to electing "good pro-life, conservative people to office across the nation," goes on to say that he hopes that McCain chooses a candidate who has "solid convictions" about the issues that matter to evangelical voters.

This make me sad. We have one of the greatest leaders in front of us and big money and powerful government have squeezed him out.

We are in trouble if Mccain picks Romney.

Announcing a candidate for John McCain's vice president position on Friday will probably not make a dent on Obama's momentum. For that you need a to pull out a crowd of 84000.

John McCain has just LOST my vote. I'm a life-long Republican but will not vote for McCain after the way he has treated Mike Huckabee.

And if McCain chooses Romney as VP, I will ask all of my friends and family not to vote for him as well. Mitt Romney is a deceitful and dishonest man and the thought of him anywhere near the presidency is frightening.

the legitimate republican candidate for president with a consistent record of integrity, representing constitutional, core republican values, and defending the liberties of the people, and the sovereignty of the nation, is candidate for president, RON PAUL.

If Mccain picks Romney as vp
Osama and Obama will win
I agree with you Dan C, Michelle.
Only Huckabee can give speeches as inspirational as Obama’s and even greater
When Huckabee speaks one can sense Honesty and not just Politics empty promises
