First, last fall, there were all kinds of people, a number of them Ron Paul supporters, dashing from Internet site to Internet site suggesting that John McCain could not serve as president of the United States.

That was because he was born outside the United States and, therefore, not native-born, as presidents must be constitutionally.

McCain was, in fact, born in a U.S. military hospital in the Panama Canal Zone, where his father was serving in the Navy. That was, in fact, American-controlled territory at the time.

More importantly, his parents were both American citizens, so he could have been born on Mars and still been an American at birth. And a sense of the Senate resolution took care of any lingering doubts.

Now come the rumors about Barack Obama's birthplace, that he was really born in his father's native Kenya, so like Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was born in Austria, he can't become a U.S. president.

Same rule would apply as for McCain. Obama's mother was an American. So is her son.

The Obama campaign has provided at The Ticket's request what it says is a copy of the Illinois senator's official birth certificate, reproduced here, showing he was born in Hawaii on Aug. 4, 1961, at 7:24 p.m., which means he was late for dinner, just like a politician. Now, about the citizenship of all those people planting these rumors.

If you look closely at the center of that document someone has stamped on the other side of the document "Jun -6 2007". That document was manufactured on that date. Had this document been a copy of the original it would have been a type set print...Not something that looks like it just came out of a modern word processor....It's a fake. No doubt. It is pretty incredible that Obama's staff was careless enough to allow someone to stamp that date on the back. IF Obama was a natural born citizen why would he need to get a copy made of his birth certificate?

The state of Michigan government,for example, issues official cerifiicates of birth, death, etc. which are in effect photocopies of an original, but printed on a special paper. On the back is an unembossed imprint certifying its validity. This document is accepted as proof for passports, driver licenses, etc.

Birth, death, etc. certificates can also be obtained from the county offices which are also photocopies of an original, but usually have an embossed county seal and are just as valid as those issued by the state.

This certificate is bogus. There are no signatures on it. It does not tell the site he was born ( hospital, house, etc..) A valid certificate will tell who attended the birth ( physician, midwife, etc...). It will give the exact location of the birth. Obama is hiding something.

You conspirators need to check yoru facts. This is not the actual Certificate of Live Birth, but a short-form certificate issued by the State of Hawaii Department of Health.

It is computer generated, based on information in its database. The stamp and signatures are on the back. that is why it is not typewritten.

Also, Hawaii was a little more progressive than the racist South in 1961, and did not use the term Negro or Negroid.

The certificate was requested in June 2007, thus the date.

Finally, the Obama campaign released the certificate number after first being cautious about whether it was sensitive information.

The number is 151 1961 - 010641.

If in doubt, simply request your own copy from the State of Hawaii Department of Health.

The documents revision date is 2001 (bottom of page). Of course this is not from 1961, probably revised after adoption was finalized. That happens all of the time.

I am very late in reading this, but in case anyone comes back here, I would say that, having done years of genealogy, many people do not have their original birth certificates. They are lost, burned, misplaced etc. There are documents known as delayed birth certificates, where someone born in the early days had no proof of birth , and in order to collect a pension from the Civil War, or later on, Social Security, they had to find relatives, neighbors or friends to say they were present at the birth or knew the family intimately.
If you send for a copy, you will get a laser printed one just like Obama's. His genealogy is well documented through his mothers family, back to the 1700's in this country. Even if he had been born longer ago, when Hawaii was still a territory, he would still have been a citizen like people in Puerto Rico are.
There are also many, many people living in America, whose grandparents or greatgrandparents never finished their citizenship or did not want to become citizens, because they hoped to return to their native country someday.
If someone proves that Obama was not born in this country, he will be not become President, someone else will, and we will go on with our lives as always. One only needs to go back in the history of this country to find all kinds of things that happened that we could not imagine in these days.

I only read about 10 comments, but from what I've read I want to make a very clear distinction between fact and fiction. I'm a federal employee and am paid to review Birth Certificates and applications for a certain federal benefit.

I want to begin by saying that none of you birth cert experts know what you're talking about.

Were birth certificates back in 1961 type-written? Yes, states have different policies now on how they maintain documents. Some states just make a photocopy of the original entry in the books on the security paper, others convert the information to an electronic database that includes a different format than the original entry into the register.

Is this a recently issued birth certificate? Yes. But I guarantee you if half of you requested a copy of your birth certificate today, it would come in a format very similar to what you see there.

I was born in Florida and originally my birth certificate was photocopied from the books onto security paper. I just recently ordered a new one and it came in a completely different format and typeface.

Is it illegal to not have an original birth certificate? No, and I guarantee you 90% of you don't have an original birth certificate - if you have one at all.

The startling thing about this, to me, is that McCain has hired the same operatives that purchased the Bush election in 2000. The problem this time is he's running against a, relatively pristine candidate, so they're having to divert to new tactics.

Is Obama perfect? Heavens no. Is he relatively pristine? Yes. He doesn't have a thirty year record to scrutinize, he's worked with social organizations, he graduated from Harvard Magna Cum Laude, and he hasn't had affairs like both McCain and Clinton.

Was he friends with Bill Ayers? Probably. But, and this plays with the argument that Obama is NOT perfect, you have to make some unfortunate acquaintances if you want to win high office. We were shown this last night by David Letterman when he inquired to McCain about his associations with Gordon Liddy -- which show they were much more extensive than Obama's with Ayers.

In light of this, McCain's operatives use faith as a scare tactic - common amongst republicans. "He's the antichrist," "he pals around with terrorists," "he's listed in bible codes, "he's a communist," "he wants to create a civil defense corps." The first part of the civil defense corps, by the way, includes AmeriCorps which is the most overlooked, and under-appreciated, branch of the government. I know, I'm a VISTA Alumnus. The second is a civilian security force, which has already been created by the Bush Administration. Don't believe me? Google: 'civilian reserve corps.' It's not the exact thing, but it's in that direction; and I believe Americans should be active in our own security. This is especially true in light of domestic terrorism.

I just want to encourage people to stop raising the propriety standard for Obama. He's not Christ, but his politics are the medicine America asked for. Our companis are going over seas, technology is taking over our domestic workforce, corporate executives have created a covenant of exploitation, and millions are losing their homes. THAT is what I call: "piss on me economics."

Admittedly, Obama is a gamble, but McCain is a fold on the table -- and his record verifies that. If he truly wants to win independents, he needs to stick to the issues. So far from his campaign, I'll I've gotten is that Obama is a "communist," "terrorist," "Muslim," who is a "family oriented American who loves his country." Don't say one thing into one ear and then say another at your rallies. These things are not mutually inclusive.

This is absurd Factcheck.org already looked into this and disproved what a lot of you guys are claiming. They looked at the document which had the raised seal, the stamp from the office of the registrar and also found an article from the honolulu advertiser announcing his birth back in 1967.

The stupidity of some people is astounding. The book of Revelation (not revelations) does not describe the antichrist nor does it even use the term anti-christ. The term antichrist is only mentioned several times in the first and second letters of John. Also considering that the book of revelation wasn't complete until around the 2nd century and Islam wasn't founded until some 400 years after it would be rather unlikely that the bible would mention a religion that didn't even exist yet. Also the bible states that the person would come from within the church.

Like the Concerned Citizen above, I too am a Federal employee who looks at Birth Certificates for the purpose of benefit entitlements. I am not voting for Barack Obama, but I think this argument is silly nonetheless. It is importatant to note the difference between an ORIGINAL birth certificate and CERTIFIED COPY of a birth certificate. Both are equally acceptable and both are issued by the State purveyor of the record. It should be noted that many certified copies don't bear the traditional raised seal that you may be thinking of, but other features will be in place to validate the certificate's authenticity (these features vary by state). A hospital birth certificate, on the other hand, is not an official record of birth, only a souvenir as far as most agencies are concerned.

As to Barack's citizenship...if he was born in the US (or in a US territory), whether or not his parents were citizens at the time, Barack would be a citizen. If Barack was born outside the US, but to US citizen parents (meeting certain rules), Barack would be a citizen. The Constitution simply calls for someone who was born a citizen, not a citizen who naturalized. There is a clear distinction.

And as for dave, who suggests that McCain is naturalized, that is totally false. There are many different rules meeting US citizenship at birth. No matter where you were born, if both your parents are US citizens and one has lived in the US, you are a US citizen at birth. There are many other rules for one parent as citizen, one parent as alien (if you're born outside the US). We can go over the rules again and again. The bottom line is that both of these men were US citizens at birth. Now, that doesn't speak of the other qualifications they should meet to be President of the US.

I am a photographer and I have extensive experience in both scanning and photoshop(i.e. flat bed or drum scanners, photoshop 7.0,cs,cs2,cs3) I took a look at the file from Obama's website. Let's just say it peaked my curiosity... and it is most definitely a real scan and has not been digitally altered. If you pull the image up in a hexeditor you would see a line of code pertaining to photoshop cs3, don't let this fool you into thinking the image has been altered. This could be from any of the following: cropping the image, resaving the image to a jpeg, or saving for web to reduce upload times, sharpening the image. This is a very common practice for any website that deals with photos. (i.e. many companies like flicker.com, Livebooks.com have this process automated for you). It is most definitely a non-altered, authentic scan.

To Concerned Citizen - You say you are paid to review birth certificates. Does this review involve checking to see if a certificate has an embossed seal? An official certificate would have an embossed seal. When I go to renew my driver's license the birth certificate I show them needs to have the seal or they won't accept it.
So I think it is not unreasonable to expect Obama's to have the same.

This is not a valid birth certificate because it does not have an embossed seal. An electronic image does not suffice as one can digitally alter it. A government independent party other than democratic should verify authenticity. There is a current lawsuit ongoing and second one just started in the state of Washington. The interesting thing beyond the details, or lack thereof, about Obama' birth certificate have to do with his parents actions. DID his mother and step father change his citizenship to Indonesia? If so does that then, since he was a minor, eliminate his claim to US citizenship? Can parents by adoption, or legal action take away a childs citizenship of birth? Even if they did, can a child, once they reach legal maturity, reverse such an action. The US does not recognize dual citizenship so if is there legal record of Obama's citizenship change by parents, is there then a record of Obama's request for re-instatement to his US citizenship?

All of this is pretty much moot because I don't see the Supreme Court intervening and throwing a sitting President out of office (Assuming Obamas election)unless their is some case is made for williful or criminal misconduct on his part.

As much as the idea of Obama as president gauls me, once elected, it would pretty far fetched to imagine his removal from office on such a matter, unless criminal action is proved. In other words such a case would be still be in process by the time Obama's term is up and unless evidence was present of criminal action, he might even survive a re-election before such a case could be brought to conclusion.

I am a citizen of the State of Hawai'i and have a wedding certificate from there that was mailed to me from the State that is of the same exact typeface, same color paper and a similar date/time stamp on the back that shows through to the front side.

You don't know me from Adam (who, by the way, was not born in Hawai'i) but I can tell you that the certificate appears to be authentic.

Do not base your judgements upon how things are in your state. It just may be different somewhere else - as in Hawai'i. There are many official certificates from the state of Hawai'i that do not have "official embossed seals"; I guess that they are not valid either.

This a "COLB" not a Birth certificate. Anyone could get one for their newborn in Hawaii w/o proof of being born there. This is not proof Obama was born in the U.S. It wouldn't matter anyway. A "Certificate of Live Birth" as presented here is NOT the actual birth certificate. It is an abstract copy based on information recorded with the State of Hawaii. These certificates, when embossed with an official seal, are commonly used and accepted as a legal document proving date and place of birth. In fact, this sort of document can be used for the issuance of passports, driver's licenses, social security cards, etc.

However, to establish that the presented document is true, corroborating evidence must be provided by an independent third party. This could be a certified photocopy of hospital records or the actual, original certificate or record as filed with the state.

Proof Barack Obama Birth Certificate is a Forgery.
This is an exclusive exposing the Barack Obama birth certificate as an absolute forgery and it has been in plain sight all along.
There can not be any Obamaniacs descending on sites claiming the experts are wrong, pixels are wrong or any other way of muddying the waters as the 1000 points of darkness have been carrying out their marching orders.

Below is a cut out of one part of the published Barack Obama birth certificate which exposes the fraud and forgery of this document. This is the certified certificate from Barack Obama himself.

What has been staring everyone in the face is the effects of political correctness and no one has seen it. The beauty of this liberal political correctness is that the person who forged this document got caught in their own trap of affirmative action hyphenated Americans.

Look closely at Stanley Ann Dunham's race. Caucasian.

Now look closely at Barack Hussein Obama sr's race. It is listed as African.
That doesn't seem all that interesting and no one has noticed it until one looks that this is an official document filed in August 1961.

Most people on the internet and blogging have no sense of history nor in the use of words and it is this lack of sense which is going to bite whoever forged this document.

Up until 1968, the standard term for all Africans was "negroe". This fit with the absolute secular scientific teaching of the day which notes the world has 3 races in Mongoloid, Caucasoid and Negroid.
It was not until the Black Revolution when negroe or negro became a foul description in the late 1960's and then "black" was demanded by this group to describe them.
It was not until the late 1970's when political correctness came into vogue that it ushered in by the 1980's the term "African" to describe all blacks.

Whoever forged this birth certificate was not utilizing the 1960's terminology which a black person would be listed as. They fell instead into a warped year 2000 politically correct description of "African".

This is absolutely telling as if you looked at birth records in Prussia centuries ago, those people would be termed Prussian, Bavarian etc... as Germany did not yet exist as a termonology for nation state. If someone was listed as German in 1700, it would be glaring forgery just like the Obama forgery stuns the eyes once one knows what they are looking at.

One could research the certificates in Hawaii for absolutes, but considering as has been warned in this blog that Hawaii is a Democratic state, has Democratic officials who have been hemming and hawing about this certificate and only upon precise questioning do they start backing down as it means their jobs and prison time if they certify a forgery as real and this is Democratic transplanted son Barack Obama carrying on this charade, could one ever get a clear answer from them unless one looked at numbers of birth certificates to precisely learn how Hawaii was labeling "blacks".
If this case it is African, then why is not Stanley Ann Dunham labeled correctly North American after her continent? She though is labeled correctly as caucasian as that is exactly as she is.

If one still today searches enough death certificates in the 50 United States, you will find listed on them the term NEGRO. Now that is over 40 years since 1961 in Barack Obama's birth and political correctness has not reached completely into the coroner's records.
That fact is scientific and if it still exists today as proof it certainly is the proof from before 1900 in America and past 1960 that all blacks were noted as "negroe" or "negro" on all public records from birth certificates, marriage licenses, passports, driver's licenses to death certificates.

Whoever forged the Barack Obama birth certificate got caught in Mr. Obama's own political correctness.
In 1961 America, blacks were negroes and not Africans no matter if they came from Africa or not.
If one cares to examine the Negroe Leagues in baseball where blacks were to "pass" as Cubans to the United Negroe College Fund to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, there was no African at all in any terminology.
One was negroe on legal documents and "colored" in common usage.

No pixels in this. No questioning borders and no questions about the researcher's expertise as negroe is American history and scientific fact just like whoever forged the Obama birth certificate got caught in political correctness in not being able to use a term they were trained to avoid.
