John McCain isn't taking much of a Big Apple bite

While Barack Obama's campaign is busy gearing up to offer at least the pretense of competing in all 50 states, here's a sure sign that John McCain is being a bit more selective -- his New York headquarters is located in New Jersey.

Russell Berman of the New York Sun reported that on Wednesday the McCain camp opened what it "billed as a 'New Jersey/New York regional campaign headquarters' in Woodbridge, N.J., a 30- to 40-minute drive from New York City."

Several New Jersey elected officials were on the invite list for the opening ceremonies -- and none from New York, Berman noted.

The McCain forces are bowing to simple reality. Despite some speculation that Obama might suffer in New York because he vanquished one of the state's U.S. senators, Hillary Clinton, in the Democratic presidential race, recent polls have shown him easily ahead in the battle for its 31 electoral votes.

Ultimately, Obama will bow to similar realities in parts of the country. At the moment, however, as the New York Times reported Sunday, his campaign is in the process of placing "a director and staff members in all 50 states."

Is it me or is it something else? Just about every political news starts with Obama (especially if it is favorable). I saw several headlines yesterday touting Obama with leads over McCain. I had to go searching for the Gallup poll because I was a little skeptical of the sources for the so called big leads. When I finally found the Gallup poll, it had McCain and Obama tied. That actually represented a significant improvement for McCain who had been trailing. Lo and behold, the tie in the Gallup poll was not widely covered

It seems to me that the media is once again being biased in their coverage - just as they were with Clinton vs. Obama. That is bad for our democracy in my humble opinion

Obama has based his campaign on his, supposed, judgement trumping Hillary's--and now McCain's experience. Yet, time after time, he has shown questionable judgement: from naming Jim Johnson to his Veep selection panel, to reneging on his pledge to take federal campaign financing, and now to his risky 50 state strategy.

Can we really trust our future to such questionable judgement?

It is not you. It is the media trying to clutch to any news they can find. Fortunitly for Obama, everything they find about him is good. I guess he can't help being a good candidate for the white house.

Well, if the Giants and Jets can call themselves New York teams while playing in New Jersey, maybe McCain can too.

Message to Wm Tate & Jack...

WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU PEOPLE?

whatever. the fact that obama kicked both clintons' butts who were once supposedly invincible in the primaries means nothing to y'all then. let's boil it down and say he has a lot of judgement, takes deliberate action, and takes nothing for granted. or he doesn't and it's now the other half's turn being dumb[er than voting w into office twice as he takes the country down in flames]. enough said.

Last week the stories all seemed to show that Obama was not showing a bump in the polls and therefore McCain must be a stronger candidate than expected. Now the argument is that, yes Obama is showing a bump in the polls but that doesn't count because some other candidate in the past either won despite the bump or lost after having it. Keep hope alive for Mr. McCain, I think not! Mr McCain cannot separate himself from the disastrous Republican administration of the past eight years. This administration has made a mockery of the constitution as well as the Republican party. It has come to the point where Obama is more of a Republican than their own candidate, or their flunkies. Justice Kennedy (a staunch conservative) did not see a reason to execute baby rapists, and Mr. McCain (a conservative?) apparently doesn't either; since he has not said anything about the decision. How ironic is it that if you are a conservative, a republican, or religiously fundamental you're best chance of getting someone who sees your point of view would be to vote for Senator Obama!

Well, after finfing only half a worm in the apple.......his
second bite had to be more restrained. Had this happened to good ole Barack he would have been kneeling in front of and talking into the big white phone.

Reading Don Frederick, one cant help to think he is on the
Obama payroll. I have never seen a journalist matching so
closely the meaning of the french word pamphletaire.

Yes. It's just you Tim and Jack. Perhaps you missed the 3 month long flurry of 24 hour discussion and comments on Obama's acquaintences, wife, and flag lapel habits. It made no difference whether Bill actually pardoned Weather Underground members, whether McCain or Hillary were wearing flag pins, or if McCain had publically said that he was never loved the US until his POW experience. Can you imagine the uproar if Michelle Obama had been hooked on painkillers and stole them from a charity? With all the stories now on Obama's fllip flops that pale in comparison and attention to McCain's changes the only way you can make these copmments is if you see what you want to see and hear what you want to hear.

I'm surprised there is any problem with McCain's NY HQ being in NJ. After all, no one has a problem with both of NY's football teams being in NJ. When the World Cup was played in the US all the NY fields were in NJ. It's no big deal. Unless of course, you live in NJ and feel slighted that everyone seems to think that NJ is just "lower-NYC."

Just a brief comment on the photos in the politics a to z

It's not just Jack and Tim, it's me too. I have never seen the media fawning over an empty suit like Barack Obama unless they're afraid of doing their job and being labeled racist? Why doesn't the media report on Obama flip-flopping on all the issues? Obama does not offer any solutions or ideas, just critizes or ridicules the ideas that Senator McCain voices like he did with Hillary Clinton. The media does not ask him hard questions, just BS questions. I really believe the media, along with the bloggers and superdelegates are on Obama's payroll. The superdelegates only voted for Obama because he and/or move.org paid them.

About two weeks ago, Bill O'Reilly and Miller (can't remember his first name right now) of FOX referred to Michelle Obama as a beautiful woman! What a joke! In my opinion, Michelle Obama is uglier than Aunt Jemima. Unless they're changing their tune because Murdoch, the owner of FOX likes Barack Obama. Sean Hannity and Joe Scarborough are still consistent in their reporting against Barack Obama.

Going back to Barack Obama, I can't believe 90% of African-Americans are only voting for him because he has 3% African blood, but I guess since he married Michelle, an African-American, that makes him Black enough to vote for him. What if he had married other than African-American? Would African-Americans still be voting for him. When is LA Times or others in the media going to report on Larry Sinclair? If anyone wants to call me racist I don't care, buy me a hood. I've been called racist before because I did not want to go out with African-American men because they were not my type period, and they tried to make me feel guilty by telling me that I wouldn't go out with them because they were Black. What such low esteem! Now Obama and his campaign is playing the same BS on anyone who is not voting for him.

Wow Diana. Thanks for sharing. Now. Tell us about your childhood? Did you get bullied by black men too?

I cannot understand the mentality of McCain supporters who bemoan the lack of objectivity and then attack Obama for his 'flip flops'.

The words 'pot, kettle, black' spring to mind.

And no Diana, I'm talking about the actual colour. Not those nasty men who make fun of you.

Diana, aren't you running late for your next Klan meeting? Oh and let me guess, you're one of those angry bitter white racist women who largely supported Hillary's reproductive parts yet can't figure out why African Americans support Barack Obama.....

Pot. Kettle. Black.

More so...

Low information voter. Another Bush term.

Diana,

How could Obama be only %3 black when his father was %100 black? This doesn't make anymore sense than the rest of your racist remarks.

Aunt Jemima ugly? The Queen of Pancakes. You have got to be kidding! Michelle Obama ugly? Again you have to be kidding, right? Do you think her beautifull little girls are ugly too? Maybe you need to clean your glasses or let some light into your heart. Hate is what is ugly.

Color is not the problem, ignorance is. And you are spreading it thicker than butter on a stack of Jemima cakes.

Whatever is wrong in your life please don't project it on others. Bitter is not better or superior to any color ,black or white.

Festi and Ayana, does the truth hurt and the shoe fits? I'm not a "bitter white racist women". I'm a proud American female of Mexican descent, and I'm not a Democrat and have never supported abortion rights. I've always been very conservative in my political views, and have never been bullied by anyone, because I wouldn't have allowed it. My parents raised me to love God, family and country, to have morals, values and principles, and not bite the hand that fed me, and the majority of my friends and co-workers were brought up the same.

Would rather vote for another Bush third term than a Carter second term. Let me guess, Festi and Ayana are two of those 90% Blacks who voted for Obama, can't control their sexual appetite, get pregnant, if you didn't have an abortion, you had the children to go or continue on Welfare and think society owes you something. Will you get me a hood or just tell me where I can get one, and get one for yourself since you are not only anti-White, but also anti-Hispanic and anti-every ethnicity even anti within your own Black race?
