Clinton, McCain, Obama, Romney help mark The Ticket's 1st birthday

June 14, 2008 |  9:54 am

The Ticket celebrated its 1st birthday this week.

As we noted on the actual day, June 11, it's been an eventful year that began with front-runners who ended in the rear.Top of the Ticket Birthday Cake We wanted The Ticket to be a virtually round-the-clock, coast-to-coast operation with unpredictable items written in surprising ways.

We wish you could have been at our party. An amazing time. Hillary Clinton was there. A new pantsuit. Barack Obama was hitting everyone up for more money. Mitt Romney was handing it out. Rudy Giuliani was taking some to cover his debts.

John Edwards was hedging on his plans. Fred Thompson was supposed to attend, but he overslept after another long two-hour campaign day. John McCain called for a 100-year party.

And Rep. Ron Paul, the millionaire with his money in precious metals, was warning everyone about an impending financial crisis if we don't dump the Fed. And Al Gore couldn't decide if he wasn't coming or not.

We've published some 2,300 items, received nearly 47,000 reader comments and more than 11.5 million page views in this last year. We're now ranked in the world's top 140 blogs and we thank you for that.

We look forward to thousands more items and comments and millions more readers through this historic election and way beyond.

As a gesture of our generosity here on The Ticket, we wanted everyone to have a piece of our cake. So here you go. Dig in. Enjoy. Thanks again.

Congratulations on your First Anniversary.

Your bios indicate you have extensive experience in the world of politics. I have many years experience as an auditor for various organizations. It has been my experience that when something simple and ordinarily provided is not, or provided in an out-of-the-ordinary manner there is more to investigate.

I mention this is light of the controversy over Barack Hussein Obama's birth certificate. On his new "Fight the Smears" site there is an image of Obama's "Certification of Live Birth", NOT his Birth Certificate. I pulled out my certified copy of my own Birth Certificate. It provided information not provided on Obama's Certification of Live Birth such as: Date copied, Registration Number of Birth Certificate, Hospital where born, Parents Married or Not, Name of Physician, Height and Weight, etc..

All of this information is simple, ordinary, and easily provided. Yet the Obama campaign refuses to provide such. Do we really have to go through another Presidency of "I don't remember if I did drugs." or "What is, is"?

"Change we can believe in" with its "New Kind of Politics" - are just words not backed up with actions, apparently from the moment of birth. You can't get much more basic than providing a Birth Certificate, all College Transcripts, original Application for the Bar, all medical records for the last five years, etc. This is for Presidency of our beloved United States of America, the most powerful nation on the planet - not the local PTA.

Trust but Verify - an old principle, still valid.

Excellent cake - where's the champagne?

Congrats, guys! You're part of my Bloglines, which I check all day long. And I'm never disappointed.

Great stuff. Here's to many months of great material ahead.

(Thanks, a lot, Beth. Appreciate you checking in and look forward to the same exciting months -- plus your comments.)

Congrats from Canada!

Reading your blog is better than sex. I'm guessing that's true since sitting up late at night, reviewing your posts and then talking politics with my wife has probably kept me from getting lucky more than once! I can only surmise that you guys must be completely celibate.

I've relocated from So Cal to our organic farm in eastern Canada for the summer and I'm depending on your narrow and distorted point of view to keep me in the game until October.

Thanks for your 'round the clock reporting!

(You bet. Blogging is the cheapest kind of birth control. Glad to help out.)

Love your Blogs! Hurts me to say to friends here in NYC that the most interesting and intelligent commentary available comes from (egad!) the LosAngeles Times.

Andy Malcom and Don Frederick are blogsuperstars. But the general level of reader commentary is also quite good, not the mental-institution drivel found elsewhere (not to offend those of my fellow responders so institutionalized).

Cake looks great! Diabetic, here, anything made with Splenda?

(Thanks, Doctor. Always good to see back and keeping us on our toes as usual.)
