Pelosi, Dem convention chair, vows not to push for joint Clinton, Obama ticket
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who will chair this summer's national party convention in Denver, where the ongoing Clinton-Obama competition may end up, says either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton would be a good
president -- but she would never push either of them to join up as running mates on the Democratic Party ticket.
Speaking to politicians' favorite interviewer, Larry King, on a show scheduled to air this evening, King asks if Pelosi would pair the two if it were in her power.
"I don't think it's a good idea," Pelosi says, according to a partial transcript released for promotional purposes by CNN. "I think that, first of all, that the candidate, whoever he or she may be, should choose his or her own vice presidential candidate."
There's plenty of talent to go around to build a "good, strong ticket," Pelosi says. "I'm not one of those who thinks that that's a good ticket."
Too much animosity? asks King.
"If they think it's a good ticket, maybe it is," she says. "But I don't think that we should thrust the vice presidential choice onto the presidential nominee."

Pelosi doesn't want this to happen because she wants the title herself. If she gets it, don't be surprised to see her running for president in either '12 or '16.
