Heads up, Gov. Arnold! Jerry Brown's pondering a rerun
California Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown spoke at the state Democratic Party convention today and, boy, did he sound an awful lot like a candidate for Golden State governor -– again.
Eerie.
Brown, who served two terms as governor from 1975 to 1983 before term limits took effect, reminded his Democratic audience assembled in San Jose of some of his "highlights," like getting rid of former Gov. Ronald Reagan’s bulletproof limousine and using a blue Plymouth from the state motor pool.
Brown said he kept the Plymouth for eight years and put 240,000 miles on it, adding: “Now that’s sustainability.”
He acknowledged his reputation for coming up with unconventional ideas as governor. “They didn’t call me Moonbeam for nothing,” said Moonbeam. “I worked hard to get that.”
Even so, Brown said, he accomplished more than his Republican successors. “I tried hard not to build freeways, but we built three times more than [Pete] Wilson and [George] Deukmejian combined,” he said of his Republican successors. “Even without trying we did more than those idiots.”
After blasting the Bush administration for its record on education and the environment, the current state attorney general and former Oakland mayor hinted to his partisan audience that he might run for governor again in 2010.
“I don’t do much these days except sue people,” he said. “But maybe one of these days I’ll get around to doing more than that, and maybe you’ll help me.”
Maybe.
(UPDATE: Sunday's speakers include San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, speaking on behalf of Sen. Barack Obama, and ex-president Bill Clinton, speaking on behalf of you might be able to guess who.)

The 'Bluemoon' Governor
Jerry Brown's second round would portend a welcomed
'Change' & 'Experience' candidate all-in-one. Talk about
'Ready to Lead from Day One'! He gets my vote.

Jerry Brown is an egocentric clown - a self-absorbed loser.

That's nice. Why don't the candidates remember the bad things that happened during their tenure? Oh, I forgot we don't vote the stupied ticket.

Those who encourage him to run obviously don't remember his two terms. He had the attention span of a gnat. Oh yea, he did get us the diamond lane, but did he improve education?Did the state become more efficient? How did he deal with the problem of Prop 13? He covered up the problem instead of dealing with the fundamental problems that the state continues to grapple with.
He did bring much greater honesty to government and he did sponsor anti-corruption legislation that did make a difference. Unlike his father, I don't think he was a great governor, by any stretch of the imagination.
I don't think we need another "celebrity" governor. California is in terrible shape, largely because we have had governors, (including the current one), who refuse to speak truth to the electorate, so that we can deal with the fundamental problems of the state.
The last governor who tried was Pete Wilson. Not my favorite guy, but along with the bitter medicine that he spoon fed the state, he did what he said that he would do and the state finances got better. However, even Wilson did not fix the fundamental issues addressing California bureaucracies and inefficiencies, but he did try.

Run Jerry Run!!!!

I once smashed my hand into a television screen showing Pete Wilson defending California's extreme three strikes and you're out law. He is one coldblooded sadist.

NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jerry Brown was the lousiest governor that California ever had! He ended the freeway building program and California has never recovered from that and he displayed a remarkable disdain for the people of California by cutting essential programs right and left!
A vote for Jerry Brown is a vote for chaos and a retreat to the hippy era.
Jerry Brown is California's Ralph Nader , both should retire from ruining public service,

He was dead on when he called Bill Clinton The Prince of
Darkness. But it's all been downhill since then and today's
speech shows signs of severe dementia setting on
governor moonbeam, however not as acute as that
affecting governor Judas of NM ,who is about as current
as a 1974 plymouth.
