Look out, Huck, Ron Paul's people are gonna be furious

OK, Disciples of Paul, here's the chance you've been waiting for to get Mike Huckabee, the only remaining contender between your guy, Rep. Ron Paul, Ron Paul Republican Party candidate for presidentand the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, that nobody senator from Arizona, John McCain.

Do you know what Huckabee wrote on Tuesday? You won't believe it. Seriously.

Because he needs the publicity and doesn't have the money to buy much advertising to convince the rapidly growing number of Republicans who see the former Arkansas governor as a lingering nuisance who can't take a hint that his presidential hopes are over, smoked, done, dashed, cooked, fried, kaput, finished, completed and hopeless, Huckabee has challenged McCain to a debate. Hey, it only cost a stamp.

Huckabee's letter says: "I believe a Lincoln-Douglas debate so that voters can better understand our views on critical issues such as health care, education, energy independence, terrorism and national security is just what we need."

Of course, the Lincoln-Douglas debates occurred in....

a U.S. Senate race. There were seven of them, each three hours long. (That was in the 1850s before commercials for bathroom breaks.) And, also, the Republican lost that race.

But nevermind, Huckabee wants the spectacle of a debate before next Tuesday's March 4 primaries, when his campaign hopes could become absolute cinders. He'd also like your online signature on the letter for publicity.

But here's the real outrage that will rock the Internet in the next few hours. After paying the now-required tribute to Sen. McCain as "an American hero," Huckabee writes:

"Now that the race for the Republican nomination is down to just the two of us, I believe this is the time for a real discussion about our vision for the future of this great country."

The two of us? As in 2? One more than one and one less than three? Huckabee has no idea what he is in for, dissing the party's other remaining candidate. Just watch the comments section below for a taste. He's completely disregarded the existence of the 10-term libertarian-like congressman from Texas. Who may not have a realistic chance of beating McCain either, but don't tell that to members of the Ron Paul Revolution.

Paul, by the way, has consistently raised more campaign donations than Huckabee for the last year -- five times Huckabee's total in the third quarter of 2007 alone and more than any other Republican last quarter, nearly $20 million.

Paul has been spending a good deal of time recently in his home 14th District where, like Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich, he's facing a serious party primary challenge next Tuesday because he's been spending a lot of time not in his home 14th District.

But that doesn't mean Paul's countless thousands of fervent followers are tied up. Huckabee doesn't know the meaning of evangelical until he runs into Paul proselytizers. First, they will spread word of this Huckabee outrage within their chatrooms, meet-up groups, phone chains and message boards.

They will start leaving hundreds, then thousands of comments on blogs like this. They will, of course, politely remember that this blog has resisted the mainstream media ignorance and written often about their man. So they will direct their displeasure at the Huckmeister.

If the Paulunteers can discover Huckabee's e-mail, he'll get an electronic earful. And once they find Huckabee's campaign schedule on his website and realize that the former governor is also in Texas these days, they will march on Huckabee's campaign events as they did Rudy Giuliani's.

And remember what happened to Giuliani's candidacy.

Ron Paul is the only candidate that makes sence.
The others are same old same old, America needs to rethink what's important and what's at stake!

Yeah, I voted for Dr.Paul in my Florida primary but y'all need to read the writing on the wall your boy Obama is the next president, the CFR already elected him you have no say!!!

Two things:
1 - Thanks for showing us that typical RON PAUL supporter -- Ms February. Beautiful

2 - HUCKABEE looks like an EWOK with a suit and tie. I mean who can take this guy serious at anything he says? Not me. I'm voting for RON PAUL -- America's Only Hope (if we're ever to regain our once wonderful country).

Thanks for the heads up, you Closet Paulite you. Got to love you, Man. Hardly anyone else had the cojones to speak his name. Of, course, you're right. Huck is already sorry, but not sorry enough. Oh, by the way, I heard that a planeful of soldiers was shot down on their way home (because they announced when they'd leave, passed on on a support group site). Also that another group, just arrived home and meeting their families, was surrounded, by police while the CO told them to get back on the plane. What kind of security clearance do you need to get Those Stories??? Help us get Paul's address during the Republican Convention some exposure, or we will have gone through all this for another blackout.

Today is the Energy Summit in Houston. All 5 candidates were invited to debate, only 2 signed up, Hillary and Ron Paul. McCain's energy policy is Al Gore's. Since the Huckster tends to "steal" other platforms and ideas, he wouldn't say anything of real value in an energy debate. While Romney was still in, The Huckster would say 3 candidates, then it went down to 2 candidates. He plays the dirty politics game and has ethics violations like Hillary and McCain.

The Huckster and Obama has charisma. Huckabee's charisma turns my stomach, while Obama's doesn't phase me. I'm for the honest statesman that won't lie to We The People, instead he tells it like it is.

Only 55% of Republicans support McCain for the nomination. That tells me 45% of Republicans don’t. (see Fox web site) If the GOP won’t acknowledge this fact, maybe the 2 remaining candidates should point this fact out to them. How? Go to the University of North Texas or Ohio State and ask them to host a debate between the 2 non-candidates only. Ask a single reporter, say John Stossel, to act as host/moderator. Put the 3 on a stage and let them have a conversation about things like monetary policy, foreign policy, the Iraq War, and health care. Do NOT allow a MSM outlet, exclusive rights to cover the event. Have the university’s communications department do all the video and audio. Tell the MSM’s out there, if they want in, they take the feed from the university and run it with no interruptions. They can comment all they want when it’s over. That would be a debate for the 45% of us that don’t like the chosen one.

Sounds like you're feelings got hurt Andrew.

(About what?)

uh... Ron Paul is still in the race and yea... he's going to win no doubt about it. Why hasn't McCain's criminal ties been brought up. Huckawhatever-his-name-is can't even raise his kids right... ever see his fat bastard kids??? They're psycho!

We're not furious. We're passionate. We're passionate about creating a movement in this country. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow; but eventually, one of these days the American public will wake up to the fact that we're losing our country, we're losing our dollar, and we're losing our liberties. That's the message we are so passionate about spreading, like wildfire, any way we know how.

Hell Eat his own words

Viva la Revolucion!

Bad move Huckabee, we need you to create a brokered convenation though, so stay in. Here is my 2 cents for the day.

Thanks to the LA Times for TRUTH!

I think America is ready for change. Change that we can believe in-Barack Obama, is the change that has a history of solidity behind, that shows truth. The truth of the Constitution and following that sacred document to the T. This person is Ron Paul. Google Ron Paul and find out. For all those who dislike illegal occupations, now politically correct name is "War", Ron Paul is for immediate withdrawal of troops in Iraq and closure of Afghanistan occupation. Only congress can declare war, which makes the President, then Commander in Chief of a War. There was no declaration of war, the last time this occurred was WWII. The reason WWII was jusitified is America was attacked and threatened by actual nations, not individuals. Everyone has been manipulated and lied to as we strive and move away further from the Constitution, which is the only reason we are and became a great nation.

You cannot win against those who view themsevles as freedom fighters against the largest enemy in the world. Has this strategy of fighting ever proven winnable? Ask yourself how much more in the banruptcy toilet you want America to go for bad foreign policy. How much more should Communist China (I thought we were against Communism?) and other NOW newly rich Arab nations due to oil price insanity, buy us for bottom dollar? Soon they will own more and more American corporations and all our national debt.

America lead by the President of the United States of America must stop encroaching on the rights of all people, internally and externally, in the name of a LIE.

Awaken Truth, Ron Paul president 2008.

Come on LA Times,

Write something good.

Paul has not won any States. That is why he is not in it.

Everyone knows Ron Paul wants to run in a 3rd Party.

I think that people are forgetting that Ron Paul has the support of the youth of this country and that when the final hours of the election are played out there will be a great voice of the people calling for a president that actually means what he says, and i think it's pretty obvious that Ron Paul is the only candidate capable of such a task. Huckabee has signed his own political death warrant with this one.

One of two things just happened - Huckabee just ran out of money and is resorting to lame misstatements to garner press. Or he has shown his true ignorance by not being able to count. Maybe he should focus more on education in either case.

Huckabee... You have to be out of your mind. Ron Paul is in the race as welll and is 50 times the canidate than you are. First off.. The fair tax is BS. LOWER TAXES OVER ALL... Shrink the government. You want to change the constitution to fit gods standards???? Are you insane? You obviously have no respect for what our forefathers fought for. All you do is try to appease the right wing religious sector. That BS trick you pulled on Romney was utterly dispicable as well. You should be ashamed of yourself sir. Asking if Mormons believed in hell... Here's an amazing thing, Google sir. AMAZING tool.

It's so easy to remember the blank stunned looks on Huckies and McCains faces when Ron Paul talked in the debates. They could only wish to be as true and confident as Ron Paul is.
I think both Huckies and McCains knees would give out if Ron were to go head-to-head with them. My guess is, by the end of it, they would both be under there podiums in the fetal position calling out to there wives.

My two cents.

I keep hearing this sort of thing on radio stations as well; that we're down to two candidates. I have this deep hope that the paul campaign will pull to the led and snag the nomination. How? Who knows. But it can still happen. No one deserves to win more than Ron Paul after all of the snubbing and neglect. This is the perfect set up for the greatest underdog story of all time.

This is insane! How much longer are we American's going to take this?!?! The constitution said that the power falls in the Sovereign Citizens hands, this means that the Responsibility is OURS. Not "that guy's over there"

We are in the greatest nation on earth. But if we keep this up, this blindness and reasonableness we WILL and ARE losing it.

Huck and McCain are BOTH lying as Republicans, they are Liberals under a Republican insignia.

Learn your history, find out for yourself. Take some responsibility, confront it! Protest, fight for your rights!

Freedom requires constant vigilance and the willingness to fight for it!

Mike De Armon
American

This has got to stop before it goes any further...Ron Paul is a part of this election and that's all there is to it! Only words...come on, let's turn this around to be a positive thing! For every insult on our cause we go out and tell another group of people about our candidate of choice! The senior centers are wide open for the good doctor's message. I found out the other day that they are just waiting for the young kids to start coming around again and just talking! Throw up your hand to wave at a passer-by...it won't hurt, I promise!

~Peggy & the boys~

RED HERRING RED HERRING RED HERRING!!!

Look for McCain to be out of the game due to a case of Divine wrath from above. It is going to happen. Oh, Mike, you too should stop all your lying and deceit cause you will be next no doubt.

Ron Paul would embarass both McCain and Huckabee in a debate, as he did to Rudy. They would not even tell the American public to watch their debate if Ron Paul was invited. Vote for Ron!

DR. Ron Paul Is the REAL REPUBLICAN!
Enough lies! IT'S TIME FOR A REVOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes Huck, you woke us up on this one.

You blew your cover with the tirade to that church about wanting a Constitutional Amendment to bring religion back into Government. So much for your conservatism. Wait, you were pandering to those who call themselves conservatives in the New Order, the radical Christians.

And McCain, the war-mongering 'I was pro-war before Bush' neo-con, I can only shake my head as to how you got front-runner status in the GOP in this country. Makes me sad for the state of affairs here.

Ron Paul has awoken the free thinkers in the USA. Reminded us what liberties truly are, what our place in the world should be, and how a non-interventionist foreign policy is NOT isolationism.

And most importantly, how restoring sound fiscal policies need to be done NOW before we totally destroy this country from the inside-out.

Vote your conscience Ohio & Texas! Go Ron Paul!

Dan from Ohio

Huckabee's letter says: "I believe a Lincoln-Douglas debate so that voters can better understand our views on critical issues such as health care, education, energy independence, terrorism and national security is just what we need."--------------------------------------------- Translation:Health care= To poison the masses, Education=Continue watching the downward spiral of stupefying the ignorant in how to work the government, Energy Independence=Lose more jobs at america by shipping to other country's, Terrorism= The act of protecting the ignorant from gangsters, National Security= To count in the sheep as we tag them like the animals they are.

I don't blame Huckabee for not wanting Ron Paul in the debate. I wouldn't want to look like an idiot either. Maybe he felt there was more of a chance for McCain to accept if he excluded Paul from the debate. Ron Paul would send these chumps back to the drawing board if they had to rationally discuss monetary or international issues.

I say challenge McCain to a political discussion in which he can not mention terrorism or push fear-mongering tactics to the forefront of the talks. He will be left with nothing left to discuss simply because he's knows NOTHING about the economy or the executive branch of legislation.

With McCain being the "leading" candidate for the GOP, it's no wonder why the party is in such shambles. If McCain is on the ticket, you can bet it's going to a landslide into the White House for the Democrats.

So what are we going to do about it??? Anyone, anyone, bueller, bueller?????

We need to execute a plan ASAP

You guys are great! I'm going to contact the Huck Campaign right away. Didn't he ever read the Good Book?
"Do unto others..." I guess he forgot what it was like at the CNN debate when they acted like he didn't exist!

*snicker*

McCain won't speak anymore, cause he doesn't want more statements he has to flip-flop back on forth on in the press.

He has already admitted he is clueless on the economy. With the dollar at the lowest point in it's history, that doesn't make him a great choice. So as long as he can stay out of the light, the better for his chances of not p.o. to many more voters.

Aren't you tired of holding up the signs in the rain yet? The (rEvolution) delusion is over folks. It's back to reality. Put the libertarian views back in the back pocket with your folded up Constitution. Liberty lives in reality and if you guys continue to live in Libertarian fantasy land your going to have a rough time in life. Your candidate was a downright horrible orator/debater/communicator and you should choose more wisely next time. Your fanaticism, beside the money donations, was ridiculously naive. You alienate people with all the negative. Don’t you get it…that’s fundamental? Even though you and your other friend got a kick out of it, you always take the high road if you’re going to influence people. Play the game or get off the filed. You were as ineffective as RP has been in Congress…all those years and nothing to show for it. The Libertarianism Theory is a tough pill to swallow and with no one really challenging its obvious faults this was the opportunity make your point and try and get it in the mainstream. The Opportunity pissed away by being aggressive, defensive and annoying…like children. Now the young men and women who supported RP will grow up and blend into the mainstream and fall in line. Wake up Libertarians….the party is over before it started.

Only two candidates... I laugh!

GO RON PAUL!!

Ron Paul is not "our God", his message is what we long for.. we know it's hard times for us but we will never stop because this is much bigger than Ron Paul.. Ron Paul is gettin' the message out there ! how come nobody wants to hear it ?? They want Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, who, in fact, will raise our debt annually 230+ billion dollars ?? why don't you people ask questions ? How is anyone gonna afford all these "spectacular ideas" ? cuz that's all they are, ideas.. WE NEED SOLUTIONS ! Ron Paul, or Freedom, or both !

This is insane!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe all this crap. Dr. Paul is leading a revolution and no one will stop him!!!!! I don't care how many times he is overlooked my the freaking crazy media!!!!! Ron Paul and all of us will not be silenced!!!!!! They can try but they will never shut us up!!!!!!! This country is about the people!!!! We are suposed to have the conrtol. And we will get it back!!!
2008 would be a land slide if everyone knew about Ron Paul and the media knows it.
Yes I am a pissed off AMERICAN! More patriotic than ever before. My voice will be heard!!!!!
MARCH DC my friends MARCH!!!!!!!

I'm sure the "2 of us" comment was just wishful thinking on Huck's part - the mainstream media AND the mainstream republican party is doing their very best to pretend the revolution is a blip on the map, a gnat buzzing their heads, as inconsequential to them as Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. Well, the joke's on them. We the supporters of the revolution have seen the light, we have a leader, we have a vision and a mission. We will not be deterred. They may win the battle, but they will lose the war.

BTW, thanks, LA Times Blog for refusing to ignore Ron Paul and his importance to this election cycle!!

Great article!

The Huckster has pulled this stunt before, and this is the last straw. He is a disgrace to Christians. Didnt he just tell a blatent lie???

The Ron Paul revolution has just started. The revolution will be bigger and stronger in 4 years.

Joe -- Great idea!! Except you said "2 remaining candidates". Of course, Ron Paul would be one of the debaters, right?

Take the MSM out of it. I like it.

RP2008

Paul already won! he never thought he would become the next president. He wanted to get his message across, he succeeded and is continuing to do so.

Huckabee sucks.

I AM VERY PROUD TO SAY THAT I SUPPORT DR. RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT OF THE U.S.A.BECAUSE HE IS THE ONLY PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WITH A 100% CLEAN RECORD IN EVERY ISSUE HE VOTED FOR.I ADMIRE HIS HONESTY,COURAGE,TRUTHFULNESS AND AMAZING KNOWLEDGE AND INSPIRATION. HIS ENERGY AND ENTHUSIASM ARE CONTAGIOUS, HE NEEDS TO HAVE A DEBATE WITH THE OTHER CANDIDATES SO PEOPLE CAN HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR A TRUE AMERICAN HERO AND VOTE FOR HIM. GOD BLESS AMERICA

After my last post, and reading other posts more thoroughly...., a debate A.S.A.P. is deffinately in order!!! Hopefully the sooner the better..., but if not, deffinately in Pennsylvania before the April 22nd Primaries!!! Dr. Ron Paul is a Pittsburgh native ( Pittsburgh known for it's advancement in medical research in the fight against cancer )..., and as of equal importance the U.S. Constitution was ratified in Philadelphia and Dr. Ron Paul states strongly in protecting the Constitution and a PA debate would be a perfect stage for him to get his message across louder!!! 74 PA delegates on the line here is how it works, check these 2 sites out for more info.......
http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1098/messages/boards/thread/3868892
http://www.researchamerica.org/release_08feb20_sciencedebate2008

Ron Paul is the only candidate that will actually be any different. If you want the same political junk that we've always gotten then vote for anyone else. If you want something different then Ron Paul is your candidate.

The revolution is bigger than Ron Paul. The revolution is just personified by Ron Paul! The Ron Paul revolution is the biggest thing to happen in this election. No matter what happens in November, this revolution is here to stay! Ron Paul 2008!

Huckabee wouldn't want Ron Paul at any debate because he knows there's a risk the American people might snap out of their mindless obedience to the MSM induced hypnotic trance where they can't even figure out why they're suddenly attracted to an idiot they know is a(n) a) liar b) opportunist c) warmonger d) economic dimwit, e) pawn to the CFR and the Federal Reserve. Choose all that apply!

It would only be fair to include Ron Paul in the debate. How could they claim to run an honest campaign without inviting him into the debate? Ron Paul has to show up if they have a debate. It's his best chance! Best opportunity we have been given to let the people hear the champion of the constitution.

The truth is, Hucakbee is not trying to be ugly towards Ron Paul, But the facts are, The TOP two candidates that have carried the majority of the votes, and states, and have carried in each state a populus vote in the hundred-thousands range, should have a debate. I could understand if Ron Paul carried two states, but he HASN'T even carried ONE STATE. Not to be cruel, but those are the facts. Ron Paul should have dropped out, a long time ago. Paul has only recieved, in some states, single digit percentages. It's only common sense. Mike Huckabee has more business being in this race than Ron Paul, because Huckabee has won 7 states. and has way more delegates than Ron Paul. maybe not as many delegates that McCain, but again, he has more than Ron Paul's...what???...7 delegates. As nice a guy he is, he really shouldn't be furious but he really should get out. Another thing, whoever said that running for president is about the candidate who raises the most money, well that's just stupid. But since the subject of money has been brought up, let me just say Huckabee to have raised probably the least of monies of all the candidates, and yet carry 7 states and more delegates, that should tell people, who the logical and wise spender is. Although Huckabee say's he may not be too good with numbers, and maybe he's just being modest and humble, he sure can stretch his budget to his campaign, and he is obviously thoughtful to his supporters dollars, who have donated to his campaign. It's obvious that he would handle the US. economy way better than any other candidates. Sounds like Mike Huckabee is a numbers genius. Ron Paul may be a nice guy, and may have some good policies, but maybe it's not his time.. for all we know it may not Huckabee's either.... but we need to support the candidate with the greater possiblitly to beat McCain to represent the conservatives. .

First I would like to say that I wish Ron Paul got the same free media attention that this bozo (Huck) does.

Second, Hillary and Obama state that they will leave "residual" troops and mercenaries to occupy Irag while claiming they want to withdraw troops. They are double talking liars like the rest of politicans. Do your research people, don't be memorized by color and sex.

Lastly, I will write Paul's name in because I am DONE picking the lesser of 2 evils. Honesty matters to this "typical Ron Paul supporter" and yes I am smokin' hot.

PS For the "non-American" above; you sound like a typical American moron with all your half truths. I guess ignorance comes in all nationalities. Good luck with all that hatred and bitterness.

(See the reply to Mattie down below about getting and not getting media attention.)

Thank you Andrew Malcolm for always being fair. Its not over! Everyone preaches about being part of this and not listening to the media but as soon as they say its over you give up! Stay awake people! Huckster is an idiot sorry! Its funny how he all of a sudden has tried to adopt what Ron Paul says as his own gospel I mean can you say STUPID! READ AMERICA! You can do it I promise it wont hurt! Well maybe it will hurt your pride a little but.

Hey great article, as usual. Nice to see someone in the media who is fair and not controlled by the One World puppeteering international bankers.

It won't matter one bit whether Billary, Obama, or McCain get in, they are all CFR members. (Council on Foreign Relations, one of the main vehicles of the NWO). Under any of the three "main" candidates' presidency, this country will just continue its downward spiral into the cesspool of the One World Order.
The major media simply act like Dr. Paul doesnt exist now, as if McCain already has the nomination and the race is over. It angers me... In fact, I am "mad as hell and Im not going to take it anymore". Everyone else should be mad as hell too, if for no other reason than that we are being lied to by the very people who are supposed to tell us the unvarnished truth.

This is OUR country, lets shake off our apathy, turn the boob tube off, and take it back! The American Revolution would never have happened if people were as apathetic as they are now.... That revolution was fought over a mere stamp tax, we now have to work almost half a year to pay our taxes, which go directly to the insiders who would drag us into their Orwellian One World wastland as their chattels. Its high time we got angry and did something about it, otherwise true change will not happen.

The slanted media wants Ron Paul supporters (and everyone else) to think that Dr. No doesnt stand a chance and is in fact out of the race, which is simply not true.
Ron Paul should do a press release challenging Jaun and Mike to a nationally publicized debate, and make it look like they are cowards if they turn him down.
He should stir up a hornet's nest and repeatedly challenge the major media moguls as to why they consistently exclude any mention of him.
Why dont we flood our TV stations and newspapers with emails and calls asking them why they are going to perpetrate the national media lie of refusing to cover Ron Paul who is still in the race, since the national media is not being fair? If enough of us do this they cant ALL ignore our voice demanding truth and fairness.

Oh, for all my fellow Paul supporters, here is an email addy for Huckabee:
mailto:pressroom@explorehuckabee.com
Lets tell him what we think of his low blow exclusion of the only candidate worthy of having a tea party.
