Questioner calls Bush 'the bastard,' Hillary Clinton smiles

Over the weekend there was an as yet little-noticed incident in Bridgeton, Mo., just outside St. Louis. Sen. Hillary Clinton addressed a town hall meeting there and was taking questions from the audience.

One elderly woman rose and was asking the Democratic candidate about a rumored economic union among the United States, Canada and Mexico that is widely discussed, feared and abhorred among conspiracy fanciers. The woman said the president planned to implement the secret agreement in 2010.

Then the woman called the president "Bush the bastard."

The Democratic crowd immediately roared its approval.

Sen. Clinton nodded her head slightly and smiled.

Then, she proceeded to ...

answer the question, saying "there's not a lot of truth to it." Our colleagues over at the Swamp have posted Glenn Thrush's detailed account of the incident, which you can read here.

It'll be interesting to see if Clinton's silent assent to that crude comment arouses as much criticism and controversy as last year when a Republican woman in South Carolina asked Sen. John McCain about Clinton, calling her "the bitch."

At the time, CNN showed a video clip of the incident and strongly criticized McCain for not admonishing the woman, although the candidate did say belatedly that he respected the New York senator.

Senator Clinton acquitted herself with grace and intelligence during the town hall tonight; she is my candidate. Still, I would have voted for Senator Obama were he to be the eventual nominee; however, having seen Mrs. Obama's response about whether or not she would support HRC should she be the eventual nominee I have changed my mind. http://strictlyanecdotal.com/2008/02/04/outside-the-democratic-party-after-36-years.aspx

You know, if Hillary wins, that means Bill would have to move back into the White House. Which means his personal life will always be under close scrutiny by the media. Which means, he would not be able to do what Bill "really" likes to do, in "LEW" of what I really want to say.

Wow, Bill, endorse Obama quickly. You're going to go another four years of pretending to be faithful to your wife the President!

GO HILLARY!

Obama is merely a “Talking” candidate. Obama has draw a nice picture of the future of America. He put together a wish list. The problem is that Obama has no clue of how to implement the impossible. His policy contradicts this wish list in great ways. With limited resource of this country and budget, an inexperienced president will make the country even worse off. Obama is not ready now. But he may be ready later. American will be ready for a African American when Obama is ready not only by talking himself off but also by showing his ability. In my opinion, Obama is a regular politician that can lie as well. The more I listen to him, the more I think so. His talking of deny the fact that illegal immigrates of Latinos will take the jobs of African American people will be the perfect example of this political view. It shows he has nothing in common in philosophy with Dr. Martin Luther King’s idealism.

Hillery is the wicked witch of the left.

Blah Blah Blah. This wasn't even newsworthy.

Hillary is the most qualified to step in and know what to do and how to do it, Obama shows his feelings when he turned his back and refused to cover his heart and say the pledge allegence to our country how can we accept this as americans. What is the matter with you people , our country was not built on his beliefs. Why should Hillary have to defend Bush??/ She shouldn't, he has made his own bed and the person that called him "Bush the Bastard" said it not Hillary , she is not there to defend him or otherwise. And the Kennedys backing Obama is a joke , Kennedy is nothing but, an old drunk that needed to be gone after Chappaquid when he showed what a coward he was he may have saved that young lady if he hadn't run like a deer trying to cover his tail instead he chose to let her die. He should have been run out of town then. All of the Keenedys were nothing but, womanizers and all taking turns with some of the same women like a bunch of dogs.
Hillary is the best qualified for the White House.

As Ann Richards once said about gay marriage,

"Why in the world would anyone with half a brain care"

With all that is wrong with this country, you folks can't find anything more worthwhile to debate that who calls whom what?

It's sophomoric. By the way, I am a huge fan of Hillary Clinton, an admirer of John McCain and will vote for Barak Obama.

Moderates rejoice, we have overcome !

Billary smiles? Why not. . . she's the Bitch! Who needs a whimp behind
the desk in the Oval Office or for that matter an inexperienced kid from
Chicago? Grow up people and smell the cordite, we're at war not
at Disneyland.

Some of you need a very good mirror. You're two-faced with double standards.

You mean to tell my you think there is some sort of difference between me calling you women "bitches" and calling you men "bastards"? You're fools if you believe that and you are extremely DECEIVED. BOTH are meant as derogatory terms that are used to belittle and degrade.

It is a shame that the culture of these United States has degraded to the point that we must use offensive, foul language in our everday speech.

I think many of you need to go ahead a LEAVE this country since you can't seem to support anyone you happen to disagree with. The vast majority of the "Bush Bashers" hated him before he got in office and you've hated him since. I'm no Bush fan myself, but I have enough respect for whoever is in the Office of President to give them the honor they deserve and the courtesy due the office. Of course, looking at some of these posts, many of you don't have a clue what "honor due" would be. One thing is certain regarding me and my household: I may or may not agree with everything the next President does REGARDLESS of who it is. I may voice my opinion and I may scream at the TV or radio once in a while, but I WILL support them as President.
Democrats talk about "uniting" the country, then bash Republicans. Republicans talk about changing for the better then underhandedly do what they wish to do anyway.

Some of you are still whining about WMDs. What is it you think Saddam used to gas the Kurds in Norther Iraq? Do you think perhaps he simply flew over them while he was flatulent? Give me a break. The clear evidence is that WMDs were used and were present. I mean, threaten to come to my house for 9 months before you act and you'll never find a single firecracker here. It would benefit some of you to go back to see what Bill Clinton and his cabinet had to say about Iraq and WMDs some 3-5 years before 9/11/01. I'm sure you know how to use Google. Enough Said.

Some of you speak of "tolerance", yet you're the most intolerant of all people. You can tolerate anything (supposedly) except an opinion that differs from yours. Go figure.

I find it amusing to see how some of you even went as far as to attack the electoral college during the past couple of elections. That's the status quo for some today: If you lose, cry, whine and manipulate until you can find someone to blame for your problems. The facts themselves reflect that the Electoral College works and it always has. Don't forget: Bill Clinton was the first President elected to office by only 43% of the vote. Had it not been for having 2 opposition candidates on the ballot, he probably would have lost. Only 43% of the vote! That means 47% voted AGAINST him. Maybe we should have had a recount in Florida? Ha.

Isn't it time for those who have sat idly by and kept their mouths shut to scream as loud as some of the others who cry because they didn't get their way? I think so.

Keepin' it REAL.

Just sign me....Sick of it all.

Ummm, but he is a bastard (to put it nicely). I don't see anything wrong in saying it out loud. More accurately, she should have called him a arrogant lying bastard, but just bastard will do. I have no problem with Hillary smiling when the woman called Bush that.

What was said doesn't matter. This is yet another case of Hillary caught with that "deer in the headlights" look. Can't think on her feet about ANYTHING. The most ingenious thing she ever did was the Whitewater affair. All the rest - Hillarygate, Travelgate, Medicalgate - what a sorry mess. And to think that we once thought that she was had a brain - three orders of magnitude above Bill, who let's his "one-eyed friend" do all his thinking.

The only candidate with a shred of dignity and an ounce of ability to manage anything is Romney. Obama - Mr. Ideas without experience and too far left to find the center, Hillary - A long litany of failed ideas/lies/amorality, Huckabee - too far right to ever find the center, McCain - anyone remember Charles Keating? Arrrgggh!

Who is Vince Foster? And what does he have anything to do with the Clintons?

WOW, so many Hillary haters???? Hillary is the most intelligent candidate in the entire field running for the country's highest office and is the only candidate that can begin to repair all of the damage that the current administration has provided us with.

Obama speaks of change but with John Kerry and Ted Kennedy in his corner endorsing him, I feel that there is very little chance for change. They know they can control him and everything will remain status quo. Teddy Kennedy has influenced the Democrats for the past 40+ years. Our only hope at this point is a vote for Hillary. The Obamas' scare me to death. Not just him but she's pretty frightening too.

Try to remember how much better the country was when there was a Clinton leading us. It will probably never be that way again but hopefully Hillary will be able to help restore it to it's International prominence. I'm sure the economy will improve under her leadership. What she has done in the area that she resides over as a Senator in New York is amazing. I guess that's why she won her re-election with over 80 % of the vote.

So many of the blogs here have attacked her personally and I think that's it's pretty much without merit. I won't make such attacks toward Obama, but I'll never forget the look on his face when he turned away from Hillary with a smug look on his face when she extended her hand at the State Of The Union Address last week. It was an action and a look that I would expect to see on George W. Bush's face. I thought then, we need a mature adult leading our country, up to that point he was the one getting my vote. That single moment changed my mind. It was a very classless act on his part. We need Hillary Clinton because she displays the class, manners and character that is needed in these trying times. She has been a champion for all minorities and the women around the world. Hillary will get my vote but I'm pretty sure that I won't be the only one to vote for her.

Someone had posted this as a comment on another site - am reproducing it here:

On Legislative Experience:

Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term (6yrs.), and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law, (20) twenty pieces of legislation in her first six years.
These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress (www.thomas.loc.gov), but to save you trouble, I'll post them here for you.
1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson.
6. Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea.
7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.
10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.
13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.
15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty. Only five of Clinton's bills are, more substantive. 16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.
17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
18. Assist landmine victims in other countries.
19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.

There you have it, the fact's straight from the Senate Record.

Now, I would post those of Obama's, but the list is too substantive, so I'll mainly categorize.
During the first (8) eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced
233 regarding healthcare reform,
125 on poverty and public assistance,
112 crime fighting bills,
97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
21 ethics reform bills,
15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded
**the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law),
**The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, (became law),
**The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,
**The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, (became law),
**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, (In committee), and many more.

In all since enter the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to the spin meisters and mindless twits.

These comments that refer to Hillary Clinton as a whore, a bitch, a witch, a putrid-mouthed woman etc. are hateful and ignorant!

What is wrong with you people!

It's frightening to see what poison comes out of people when they can vent their true nature anonymously.

If everyone put as much attention to trying to help the problem that is going on in this country as we to writing comments about the people running for office I’m included in this too, if the senators and people running for president put the energy into their jobs in Washington as do in their bid for the office of president this country would be standing in high cotton and not one could touch it.

Bush may indeed be a "bastard" but Hillary is indeed a "bitch."

Deal with it. More than 50% of America believes it.....even many of those who are voting for her.

Why are you idiots attacking Hillary Clinton because she stayed with her husband? She did it for the sake of her daughter, and because she loved the man and was able to forgive him.

She sacrificed her pride in front of the entire nation. That took a lot of courage and I admire her for that!

I'm not optimstic but I hope and pray the American voters send Bill and Hill back to hell from whence they came. I can think of no other name more fittng for those two than the bitch and the bastard.

Why should Hillary Clinton defend Bush? When she was referred to as the "bitch" .. I did not hear of anyone defending her ... even the "hug and hope" Obama!

Hillary Clinton 2008!

I think this somes up most politicians quite well ! Here tis right from the dictionary:
Bitch - a malicious, unpleasant, selfish person, esp. a woman.

Bastard - a vicious, despicable, or thoroughly disliked person

Right on the money folks

One needs to take into consideration that the Clinton's do not assign the same meanings to word that we commoners do. Mrs. Clinton only smiled and failed to take offense because someone obviously forgot to define "bastard."

What twisted logic the left has. It's sexist and wrong to refer to Hillary as a "bitch," but calling Bush a "bastard is perfectly acceptable.

Little wonder the country is going down the tubes fast with party leaders like that.

And yet, if, God forbid, Hillary were to win, her inaugural speech will begin with glowing accolades thanking Bush for his years of service, just as Bill did with Bush 1.

Some putz in the audience uses an offensive word and it's the candidate's fault?. Hey people, this is called freedom of speech! If someone wants to call my candidate a bad name or your candidate a bad name, I say let's celebrate our freedoms!

Let's face it, with approval ratings in the low thirties, there are bound to be a few people who think Bush is a bastard, and they are guaranteed the right to express their opinion by our Constitution. Or do you think only speech you agree with ought to be protected?

It must be nice to run Mr Bush down when her husband will not let a movie be sold the path to 9/11 who is what what happen to freedom. Guess when its there freedoms not our freedoms. we looked like cowards to the world by doing next to nothing when they kill our people. Mr Bush gave us back our rights to fight back. Thank You Mr Bush and for takeing so much from them that wouldn't let a movie show Mr Clinton in a bad light.

I always thought of myself as a strong republican...President Bush has made me angry, as a military wife now for over 20 years I heard Bill Clinton tell me our troops were only going to be in Kosovo for 1 year, now more BS ...Democrate or republican all the Same except for Mcain my father lived and died for this country in Vietnam and he is the only one that truly has a grasp on the sacrifices of the AMERICAN people make... We should all be ashamed of ourselves...many of us don't vote...with all that said our domestic policies need ALOT of help sorry John, go Ombama or Ms. clinton...P.S would love it if one of you all would bring my husband home...3rd tour there (iraq)...God Bless America

actually I think Bush is more of a bitch than Hillary...

The difference is.......John McCain did not let that pass toward a President of our United States. His insult was slung at just a Senator. Hers was thrown at our Commander in Cheif.

If you people think that Hillary and Obama are fit to run this country..l...youa re sadly mistaken and need to check in to a mental hospital.

Hillary cries on National TV. What is she going to do when Iran threatens her???? Throw her purse???? LMAO
And Obama refuses to place his hand over his heart during the National Anthem. No way, Jose, should he even be considered as a decent leader. Does that mean he doesn't have to salute a member of our military?????? UH UH!!!! It scares me to death with this election coming up. I don't know if there is a qualified leader among ANY of the candidates. REP or DEM.

Obama and Clinton would both take the country in the wrong direction. "Change" for changes sake means nothing. Exactly what does Obama mean by "Change"? Both Hilary and Obama have NO experience, NONE. So why would anyone in their right mind want to vote them into office? Hillary Clinton is for one person alone and that is herself. She will say and do anything to get into office. Lies? Thats what she is, that’s what she does . Shell tell you one thing one day and then something else to someone else the next day. Both of these people want to give American tax dollars away to illegal aliens. That is, people who proved they have no respect for our laws by coming into this country illegally in the first place. The jobless rate is down, the economy is good, and we are fighting terrorism not on our own soil... Bush isn’t the greatest President ever but he is doing an overall good job. Not like Bill Clinton the liar who almost single handedly destroyed this country. Do what’s right folks, vote for McCain. We don’t need another Clinton in office, not now, not ever. Keep both of those power hungry communists out. Bill should NEVER have been elected into office in the first place. Electing Hillary will just put him right back in.

To Linda - Hillary didn't stay with Bill because of Chelsea. She stayed because it was the only way to use him for political gain. She is all about gaining power. Look at the way she addresses health care. We're going to have to participate or we will be penalized? It will be mandated? I have health care and I'm perfectly happy with it. I pay through the nose for it. Now I"m going to have to pay for your health care and Joe-Bob's health care and everyone else's. Why should I pay for your bills? Why would anyone vote for this idiot woman? She should have kicked Bill's ass to the corner even if it meant she couldn't live in the big White House in DC. But not Hillary. She wanted power too much to give up the white house. Is this the person you want running our country? Do you really want Billy-Bob back in the White House, and this time with no job, just time on his hands and interns all over the place? I can't stand McCain either, so I don't know what I will do on election day. Why can't we get some decent candidates?

Bush may be a lying, thieving, corrupt and cowardly incompetent who's failed at everything he's ever done and just about bankrupted America...but he's no bastard. That would be an unfair insult to bastards everywhere.

I agree 100%. Bush is both a stupid bastard and an ignorant S.O.B.

Mrs Clinton is the most dangerous and hypocritical politician ever. Please America, wake up and stop this blatant attempt by a discredited former president and his corrupt wife to gain control of the White House . I find it astonishing that so many Americans take this woman seriously. Were it not for the clear media bias I suspect she would not have progressed as far as she has with her campaign. Today is the day we can finally send a resounding message of rejection to the Clintons - let's not fail in our duty.

I'd vote for Monica Lewinsky before I'd EVER vote for a Demoncrat. They have no spine. Just look at the mess the first Clinton got us into.

It's an unfortunate truth...

She's a bitch and Bush is a bastard. Welcome to the wonderful world of politics where painted on faces and half-truths are the standard by which we judge our leaders.

Apparently, quite a number of you don't even know what the word "bastard" means. It is every bit as derogatory as the word "bitch." It says that the person is an illegitimate child of a whore. So, not only is it derogatory towards the person being addressed, it is an insult to that person's mother. How would you feel if I went up to Senator Obama and say “YO MUMMA.” It’s pretty much the same thing.

But we all know it is Ok to bash Republicans. They are supposed to have thick skin. (sarcasm).

Ya'll listen up!!!!. For ANYONE who said or even thought in your heads that the words "bitch" or "bastard" were appropriate to apply to someone like "Hillary" or "George" at their ages just because of your hatred toward them. Please consider that, in fact, you are actually belonging to those ranks because of your moron and your ill nominative. Don't act retardedly. Wise up and grow up to make the society that you live in more respectful.

All, whether you like the president or not remember it's easy to criticise but you have no idea what he is dealing with on a daily basis...I agree with very little he's done BUT he is still president and deserves some amount of resepct! She just doesn't get that and that's why she shouldn't be president, siomply put: She has no repsect for the office so she shouldn't hold it! As far as Obama, sorry folks he really doesn't have experience at all, I think what you see in him is hope that somehow Washington will change, sorry folks, being in elected office is just another job for folks to get rich doing! Viva Ron Paul!

My prediction, if the Democrats manage, unlike the last two elections, to steal this election, whether it's a very Liberal Muslim Barack Hussein Obama, or Liberal Socialist Extrordinaire BillHillary Clinton: Much higher unemployment ,which they'll blame on Bush, much higher prices for EVERYTHING, which they'll blame on Bush, a recession which they'll blame on Bush, less money in your and my pocket, which they'll blame on Bush, double digit inflation, which they'll blame on Bush, and more dead Americans in the streets from terrorist attacks, which they'll also blame on Bush.
That's the true manifesto of the Democratic party. Put the blame everywhere except where it truly deserves to be. Oh, and don't forget, it's not your money, it's the Governments'. And all with the active approval and participation of the liberal media. Fox News may lean right, but they're the lone tree in the forest. Thank God for Fox News, and may God bless and help, the United States of America, and President Bush. He's not the best President, or a perfect person, that description belongs to Barillary Oclintonama.

Sorry folks, there is no difference in using terms such as "bastard" or "bitch". Yes, "bitch" has sexist undertones. It's actual definition is a female dog. However, "bastard" doesn't mean "darn fool" as one post suggests. Bastard refers to a child, usually male, whose mother had him out of wedlock. That is the ACTUAL definition...not the implied one, or an "undertone". To call Bush a bastard is a slam against him, his mother and his father...by actual terms. No inferrence is needed. If some of you had a little better command of the english language, this would be more clear. Perhaps we've spent a little too much time "celebrating diversity" in espanol??

The fact of the matter is that Hillary is classless. Always was. Always will be.

This is great, The libs were up in arms when someone called Hillary a BITCH yet Bastard is OK. Democrats want to blame the Republicans for all of the nasty behavior in politics these days but I think each party needs to clean their own house. If you disagree with President Bush then disagree, but do it with respect for the office. And if you are a US senetor and someone calls the elected President of your country a BASTARD then set them strait!

If any media endorses someone that would be all the reason one would need to go the other way. The media has elected the president for the last 75yrs. You think McCain coming from no where was a accident. He went from coming in close to last for a month, ran out of money to a big favorite in just the last three weeks. No real conservative would vote for a pro-abortion,pro-illegal amnesty, stopped a investagation into mia's,is nothing but a liberal marxist traitor. This is to make sure Hillary becomes president, because they know if McCain wins the republican nomination most conservatives won't even vote. Ray Charles could see this coming!

If there is to be a black President, I'd like him to be 100% black, not black only when it suits him. If we are going to have a female President, then I'd like it to be a female who has risen to the top by herself, not on the shoulders of her cheating husband. I have been living overseas for 5 years and I'm disgusted at Politics in the USA. How about a candiate that really understands what's at stake in this election. It's a mad world and we need to be defended from all our enemies. This is THE top priority. Not healthcare, not pensions, but defense. Without a country we won't be able to get the other problems resolved.
p.s. I live in a country with socialized medicine and guess what,? IT STINKS! You can't pick your doctor, you can't see your doctor when you want to, the doctors don't get to know you like in the US, and you often need to travel to other cities to get simple procedures done (forget the big ones). Think twice before voting for someone who wants to implement this kind of system. It's a system that totally snuffs out innovation. No wonder the techniques used here are decades old.

What a shame. She is running for the OFFICE of The President and she will not even stand up for that. The woman called the president a bastard. She disrespected the OFFICE of The President. Now Hillary wants to be president but she can't or won't stand up and show respect to the Office. Its not the person anymore when thay are elected its the OFFICE they hold and it should be respected by both parties even if their party is not holding that position.
It just goes to show how she will be if she obtaines that OFFICE. What a shame to all of the people and media that applauded,it just goes to show the character of those people and even to the Democratic party.

CNN reported that the lady was planted by Fox News but then took the article down a short time later. Has anyone else heard this?

Well at least she didn't open Her mouth and make that awful sound that scares the animals away [HER LAUGH] ugh ! ! !

Hillary knows about the Union and the Ameri-Dollar. of course she doesn't want us to know about it until it's too late to stop it. Her husband supported NAFTA and look where our jobs have gone. People need to look beyond what the news media puts out about politicans and explore the facts for themselves. Hillary should not be president and neither should Obama. We don't need another holiday. I'm not happy with my other choices either. It's a shame when we live in a country where we have few and bad choices to vote for for president. We need campaign reform so that other people can run for office that are not bought by special interest groups. And by the way, half of the people don't think that Bush is a bastard. We should respect him because he is still our president. I don't agree with everything that he has done but you can't please everybody. I would vote for him again over Hillary any day because I don't want us to become a socialist government and if Hillary is elected (which she won't be) thats where we will be headed. Vote Huck, NUFF SAID.

It scares me that someone would actually refer to the President of The United States that way no matter your view on opinions. This position should be respected. It is what keeps our country together.

I guess old ladies are rude and crude! She Must have been a (60's) communist old age Liberal , cranky and stinky, never mind that its ok to trash the Office .

Well at least she didn't open her MOUTH and make that awful sound

that scares the animals away [ HER LAUGH ] AGH ! ! !
