'Please mute your cellphones ... Mr. Giuliani'

September 21, 2007 |  2:30 pm

During a speech before the National Rifle Assn. today, Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani paused to take a phone call from his wife. A few people laughed. The only question here, of course, is whether Giuliani really doesn't know how to silence his cellphone, since this wasn't the first time this has happened, or if he's taking the calls as part of the shtick. CNN has today's video here.

Our colleague Michael Finnegan was on hand for the speech, and you can read his report here and in Saturday's print edition on Giuliani's overture to a group tight with the gun manufacturers he once famously sued while mayor of New York.

As a strong supporter of 2nd amendment rights, I'm not buying what Giuliani is selling. At the best he's a flip flopper, and more likely a hypocrite.
