Whither Iowa?

August 10, 2007 | 11:51 am

With South Carolina Republicans elbowing their way closer to the front of the primary caucus line -- as Peter Nicholas reports on this website and in this morning's print edition -- the big question is what will the other early states do?  Will the "Twelve Days of Christmas" now include "six Iowans caucusing?" Gov. Chet Culver says "no," telling the Washington Post this morning that his caucuses would still be in January, though exactly when is up for grabs.  Culver has scheduled a news conference for 2:45 p.m. in Des Moines (12:45 p.m. Pacific) to discuss it.  We'll update afterward.

UPDATE: Culver makes it official. He's against a December caucus
