FORMAL TITLE
Proposition 1D: Protects Children's Services Funding. Helps Balance State Budget.
FINAL RESULT – 65.7% NO
For full results, visit the LA Times' Elections Results page.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
- Prop 1D would help ensure counties retained funding and protect some of the state resources that go toward children's services, such as programs for disabled or foster children.
- Would provide $600 million to protect said programs.
- Money would come from redirecting existing tobacco tax money, as opposed to taking it out of state tax money.
- Basically, anyone who bought cigarettes in the past few years will have part of their sales tax pay for these programs, instead of taking the funding from the state budget, like it currently does.
