Boys' basketball: Point guard Michael Oguine is transferring to Chaminade

The Mission League and West Hills Chaminade, in particular, will be getting even stronger in prep basketball this fall after standout junior-to-be point guard Michael Oguine of Reseda Cleveland said Tuesday that he will go through with plans to transfer to Chaminade.

Chaminade returns its two big-time big men, Jack Wiliams and Trevor Stanback, and adding Oguine to the team will make the Eagles one of the favorites with Loyola and Crespi.

Football: Servite is moving forward with renewed energy

The new coaching staff at Anaheim Servite has been finalized, and spring practice has been in full swing, with junior-to-be Travis Waller and senior-to-be Neil Pau'u battling for the starting quarterback position.

First-year head Coach A.J. Gass has put together a staff he believes will keep the Friars' program moving forward.

Among his hires are Mykeal Terry, an assistant from Santa Ana College to be offensive coordinator; Frank Kalil, a former Servite assistant who has returned to coaching running backs, and Scott Lambert, a Servite grad who will coach linebackers after coaching at St. John Bosco.

"We're young, energetic," Gass said.
