Senior-to-be Amir Ali Patterson of Encino Crespi won the gold medal in the shotput at the World Youth Trials on Tuesday in Edwardsville, Ill., tossing a winning mark of 65 feet, 3 inches.
It was a lifetime best for Patterson.
