Boys’ basketball: Big games for Yonnie Napoleon, Aaron Holiday

Two guards from the Alpha League, Yonnie Napoleon of Brentwood and Aaron Holiday of Campbell Hall, had big opening games at the Maranatha tournament on Monday.

Napoleon scored 35 points, making five of seven shots from three-point range, in Brentwood’s 73-65 win over St. Francis. Noah Willerford had 23 points for St. Francis.

Holiday scored 34 points in Campbell Hall’s 66-53 win over La Salle. Vance Jackson led La Salle with 20 points and 17 rebounds.

In transfer news, Ajon Efferson appears to be back at Pasadena after playing last season as a junior for Gardena Serra and playing for Pasadena as a sophomore after playing for Taft as a freshman. He had 25 points in Pasadena’s 64-54 loss to Calabasas. Jeremy Lieberman led Calabasas with 30 points.

Loyola defeated West Ranch, 46-39. Alex Ettinger made four three-pointers and had 13 points. Khalil Bedart-Ghani finished with 11 points and 16 rebounds.
