Baseball: VIBL starts summer season on Tuesday

The Valley Invitational Baseball League starts its 13th summer season on Tuesday. Here’s the link to schedules.

It’s a great way to get an early peek at which teams will be good for 2014. Last summer, Loyola won the VIBL and went on to be co-Mission League champions with eventual Southern Section Division 1 champion Harvard-Westlake.

It’s a league where young players get their first chance to prove themselves. It was where former Harvard-Westlake standout Lucas Giolito first started showing his potential as a pitcher.

Here’s the list of teams competing this summer.

The playoffs will be single elimination and lead to a championship game.
