Ethan Katz, a former L.A. University High pitching standout who has been instrumental in the development of Harvard-Westlake pitchers during his tenure as pitching coach, has been hired by the Angels to become a minor-league pitching instructor this summer. He’s expected to return to coach with the Wolverines next spring.

Katz helped develop first-round draft picks Lucas Giolito and Max Fried last year and guided Jack Flaherty and Conor Cuse this season when the Wolverines won the Division 1 championship. He was a pitching coach last summer in the Northwoods League.
