The Mission League figures to be loaded with top teams next season, and Alemany is showing early summer success in the Valley Invitational Baseball League.

Of the 15 players, 11 are juniors and four are sophomores. The Warriors also picked up Chaminade transfer Adam Bedrossian, who combined on the mound with Carter Yankie to throw a shutout against Crespi, 1-0.

Yankie, Kyle Merkel and Brandon Ponticelli give Alemany three quality junior pitchers that will get to match up against Loyola’s trio next season of Nathan Hadley, Quinn Brodey and Kyle Beadles, Harvard-Westlake’s Jack Flaherty, Chaminade’s Dylan Suppan and Tommy Costello and Notre Dame’s Tommy Wilson.

Also, Alemany won’t be pariticipating in the VIBL playoffs. Instead, the Warriors and five other schools will be competing in three tournaments this summer, facing off against teams from Orange County and Northern California in an experiment.
