Golf: Rio Mesa’s Kyle McLay wins playoff to top Northern individual regional

Kyle McLay of Rio Mesa was one of four golfers who shot a round of 72, but he ended up No. 1 after a playoff at Monday’s Northern individual regional qualifying tournament at Riva Ridge Golf Course.

All players who shot 77 or better (34) advance to the CIF Southern Section Individual finals on May 20 at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc.

In second place was Chaminade’s Justin Santos. Westlake’s Spencer Soosman and Oaks Christian’s Peter Griffith were next.
