Football: There is life after Johnny Stanton at Santa Margarita

May 19, 2013 |  1:59 pm

Santa Margarita struggled at times trying to replace the injured Johnny Stanton last season at quarterback, but the Eagles could have a nice problem this fall: Two good quarterbacks.

Junior-to-be Kyle Sweet and 6-foot-4 sophomore-to-be K.J. Costello led Santa Margarita to the championship Saturday at a seven on seven passing tournament at Rancho Cucamonga, defeating Corona Santiago in the final.

Sweet played receiver when Costello was the quarterback, and that could be the way the offense thrives this fall.
