Baseball: Jack Hartman no-hitter leads Cleveland into City semifinals [Video]

May 24, 2013 |  6:54 pm

Jack Hartman won his 12th consecutive game, throwing a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts, to lead Reseda Cleveland past San Pedro, 5-0, in a City Section Division 1 quarterfinal playoff game on Friday.

The game was delayed one hour because the San Pedro bus didn't show up on time, but the wait was worth it for Hartman (12-1).

"That's an awesome experience to have," he said.

Reno Rankin had two RBIs for Cleveland, the No. 2 seed that will meet Marshall in Wednesday's 3 p.m. semifinals at USC. Marshall defeated University, 4-0, behind a complete game from Andre Burciaga.

No. 1 San Fernando defeated Bell, 9-2. Roberto Ramos hit a grand slam. The Tigers will face Banning in the other semifinal at 6 p.m. at USC.

Banning defeated Narbonne, 2-1. The Pilots received a two-run home run from Juan Gallardo. Gino Brockway struck out seven and walked none.

In Division 2, Grant upset No. 1-seeded Dorsey, 4-1.
