Baseball: Grant, Van Nuys, Chavez, Eagle Rock advance in Division II

Grant will play Van Nuys in the City Section Division II semifinals on Thursday at 6 p.m. at USC. Chavez and Eagle Rock also advanced with victories on Friday.

Grant pulled off the biggest upset, eliminating top-seeded Dorsey, 4-1. Robert Factora, a four-year varsity player, struck out 10 and also started the Lancers’ rally in the sixth with a double.

Van Nuys defeated Huntington Park, 7-2. Eagle Rock defeated Hollywood, 13-5. Chavez defeated Gardena, 5-2. Chavez will face Eagle Rock at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

In Division III, LACES advanced to Tuesday’s championship game at USC against East Valley, defeating Port of L.A., 11-0.
